Villages and witch huts sometimes don't generate properly

I created some super flat worlds and most of the time I found the villages in these conditions. Attention! Sometimes not all the villages have this bug.

The bug has been working from the snapshot 13w19a. Follow those steps to reproduce it:

  1. Create a world and join

  2. As soon as you see a village, leave the game.

  3. Quickly re-join the same world and the bug should work.

Please provide seed, preset string and coordinates.

Now I only found these two seed with the bug.
Seed1:-8464678981462005138
x: -187
y: 4
z: -260
Seed2:-5599721526539106282
x: 1205
y: 4
z: -982
I'm sure there are other worlds in these conditions in fact I'm looking for more.

migrated

Tried the seeds, neither worked. Are you sure you are playing vanilla Minecraft?

migrated

I'm playing Minecraft snapshot13w19a. Are you sure you are playing 13w19a?

I recreated the worlds mentioned in the description by placing the seed but the villages were normal. I decided to create other worlds without seed, and the bug has come back. I don't know what to say

migrated

Unable to reproduce either. Created both worlds in 13w19a, both look normal, see screenshots.

I'm doing a video that will make you understand how to reproduce the bug.

This bug also affects other structures that are generated by the game

migrated

Confirmed by following the steps using the Seed #1.

migrated

Following the steps I was able to reproduce the occasional reports of MC-5737 still not beeing fixed. But these should be kept separated since they are reproduced differently.

migrated

I was able to reproduce the bug of the world that is generated in stripped parts. See screenshots

This may not be relevant, but confirmed for versions dating as far back as 1.3.2 - I've had the bug in the past, but figured it was just a one-time quirk. Yes, I re-loaded the world as I was flying around (inevitably generating chunks just as I reloaded), and the glitch was permanent (whereas MC-5737 is apparently client-side with unglitched server-side terrain?).

I even observed the chunks back then, curious as to why they hadn't populated - in MCedit, they were not marked for population, indicating that the game unmarked them without actually populating them. I've never heard of half-populated chunks, but the screenshots seem to contain doubly-populated chunks - it seems "unmark chunk for population" and "populate chunk" aren't atomic actions with regards to saving chunks, but "populate chunk" on its own is atomic with regards to chunk saving? I find it odd that both "accidentally leave unpopulated" and "accidentally populate twice" are possible, although that may not quite be what's happening in the screenshots.

ileon

The game generate the village twice.

Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.

This bug also works in version 1.6

Sciger

This bug still exists as of 14w02c, I have a screenshot of a very long strip of missing generation in the middle of a forest, can provide it if needed.

I was unable to reproduce the bug of the villages in 1.7.9. I came back in 1.6.4 version and it still works. This bug was fixed in 1.7 i think, because it is the first release where the bug doesn't works, after the 1.6.4

This bug still works. Some chunks get generated differently (are corrupted) when strolling to a place when chunks are still busy loading. I am not getting stripes, but I do get some chunks not appearing as they are supposed to. For example iof I let a world load perfectly a certain mountain may have a bunch of coal in it, but when I stroll to the location before the chunk is generated perfectly, the mountain wall looks different, with far less coal, flowers placed in another way and ponds that are different.

johndrinkwater

Seen this recently in 1.7.9 as we prepared our unpopulated chunks ready for the 1.8 update. Willing to share the map data if it’ll help devs look into this.

migrated

Confirmed for 1.8

migrated

Can confirm for 1.8.1

migrated

Cant really reproduce because I ran into a new area then quit then logged on later and saw this bug.

migrated

If you saw the bug, then what do you mean "Can't really reproduce"?

migrated

Good point

Confirmed for 1.7.10, but, unable to reproduce in 1.9.4. It is most likely lag based.

@unknown 1.7.10 is outdated.

Don't bother, the situation in MC-96998 does not have the same cause as this bug.

migrated

Changing this to generated structures only and MC-84800 to chunk population (trees, snow, etc.).

migrated

Torches sometimes stay in midair, or hang where they shouldn't

migrated

This is from 1.11, half of the end ship (with all the good stuff) didn't generate

End cities/Woodland mansions is MC-96998

Josh74000MC

this sometimes happens, its just a world generation glitch.

migrated

Seems to be fixed in 1.13.1, tried it by five different villages.

wobst.michael

Please check if that's still an issue in the latest 1.14 development snapshot.
