Update on this issue
We are hearing from users that a new Amazon device account setting is triggering this issue. In order to create worlds, you will need to allow contacts and storage for Minecraft. To toggle this setting, navigate to
Settings > Manage Storage > Internal Storage > Apps & Games > Minecraft > Permissions
Per this comment, this needs to be done while logged into the child's profile. The settings can be accessed by swiping down from the top of the screen, expanding, and selecting "storage."
It it also necessary to install Minecraft to internal storage and not an SD card. (MCPE-66549, and this comment)
Please comment below if these actions do not resolve the issue for you.
My son got a new Fire tablet. I loaded Minecraft and now we are getting this error when trying to create a world. We are having the exact same issues as another case opened- MCPE-105962.
We click create world, it seems to try and load and we get the error.
When we click on the worlds, it lists the attempted world. Click on it, error message and id disappears.
It does not matter what settings I use to create this world.
Now, the interesting thing... this same version is functioning fine on his old tablet (it was purchased in October). When I looked at the version numbers they are the same. Obviously something isn't the same.
We have deleted/uninstalled, reinstalled. I have deleted the files and had Amazon repush the app. Nothing works.
Please help!

Hi, Minecraft upadated on my sons fire tablet. In his profile he can't create or open worlds. It does however work in my profile but obviously thats not for him to use. It had been working fine for nearly a year prior to this week.
If you have a copy of the world available, you might like to upload a copy of it for investigation.
On Windows 10 you can use the Export world feature.
On Android or iOS you need to use a file explorer to navigate to Device storage > games > com.mojang > minecraftWorlds (This should be similar on Amazon)
On Xbox or Switch the only way is to upload it to a Realm, and then download the world on Windows 10 or Android/iOS. (Please do not purchase a Realms subscription just to provide a world to us - but if you have a Realm already this may be a viable option if you wish to do so.)
If the world is larger than 10MB you can upload the world to OneDrive or a similar file sharing site, and then share the link.

Could you please also let us know if you are using external storage, or how much storage space is available on the device?

I purchased this game this morning for my kids kindle fire 8 kids edition tablets. I used the tablet to purchase and download the game using my main profile. I then added the content to my kids "Amazon Kids" profiles. I went into their profiles and installed the game. The game runs but will not create or load a world. I get the same "Something went wrong" message. I shut off the age filter for their profiles. I spent an hour with Amazon Tech Support and they finally sent me here. The game runs properly when using my profile but not the Amazon kids profiles. There is 7.3 GB of free space on the internal storage.
Game version 1.16..201
Device name Fire HD 8 (8th Gen)
Device system version: Fire OS 7.3.1.7

I think the problem may be more complicated or perhaps just my instance was.
I couldn't get these solutions to work until I moved Minecraft off my sd card and into internal storage.
I hope that helps someone.

The permissions fix solved the problem on my two Kindle Fire 7s (FireOS 5.6.8.0 and FireOS 7.3.1.7). Thanks! FYI: in both cases I was logged into the child's account and accessed the settings using the parental lock password.

same with my 3 kids!! very annoying

I solved it... done as above. the only different thing I done aswell is cleared the cache and it loads now!!

This has been a problem on both my son's kindle tablets for two weeks. I reloaded the app multiple times. It would still error and say it couldn't load. The required permissions listed here where on. I turned the permissions off, the back on again. That seems to have fixed it.
Thank you for mentioning the other ticket. Normally we keep only one ticket open for each bug, so I would have resolved this one as a duplicate report. However, since this concerns creating the actual world save file and you are on a different hardware, I will leave this ticket open for now and link it as related.
