I'm having the same issue.

I am experiencing this issue as well. When attempting to sign in, the sign in fails, and displays the "Drowned" code. I have tried signing in afterwards, and it doesn't seem to let me afterwards, with the same message displaying.

Also having this issue.

This is also affecting Switch

I'm sorry for y'all, we can't guarantee it being fixed anytime soon because we are not the ones fixing that. Although, we can try to do a workaround, so you can all, possibly, log in. Won't promise it would work but it can help.
1. Have you tried to delete the application data? Maybe a reinstall? Of course, if you have any worlds please try and move them outside of the console, if it is possible, so you can save them and upload them again when reinstalling.
2. Maybe try to create a new account and log in with it?
3. If I'm late to the party and you have already tried to do previous steps, can you tell me if you've tried any other workarounds, and with what results?
Please tell me if any of this helps. It's not only for me but for the bug as well, so we can know what works and what doesn't.

Also seeing that when a user experiences this error, when they join worlds over LAN, they don't have any of their items or armor they previously had.

I am also experiencing this issue on my switch. It has been on going for around a month now. A little bit before the 1.16.22 update as I thought that would fix it.
I have tried deleting and reinstalling the app, after saving back up data. Did not work as I tried this 5 times. I cleared my log in data, tried logging in again, nothing. I have tried clearing out the cache of files for realms (so when I eventually am able to log back on I won’t have any of my saved progress on realms but whatever, I can do that again) and still did not work. And of course, the ultimate fix, turning it off and on again, restarting the console. You name it, I’ve tried it. I have over 600 hours of gameplay logged on my switch, as well as all the maps and texture packs I’ve purchased over the years. So this is very disheartening to say the least.

My son just ran into this on our Xbox. And it seems all accounts on the same Xbox are affected. No issues our other Xbox, PC or Android phones luckily.
Took me a while to figure out that it was that he wasn't properly signed in because on the Worlds screen it said he can't join our realm because of his privacy settings. Very misleading.

This issue can also be triggered by disconnecting from the Internet while the game is loading.

Same issue have not been able to login for 4 days now. Are they ever going to fix this? I've had this problem for months now, but it seems to get worse every ''hotfix update''. Why can't Mojang atleast put out some kind of official statement? I keep paying for realms plus but everytime there is atleast one gamebreaking bug that takes for ever to fix!

Same issue on two separate iPads and two different accounts (probably relevant because you don't even get to the login screen).

I am also experiencing this issue on my Alienware Win 10 PC with Minecraft Bedrock edition. I contacted Microsoft originally to resolve the issue, exhausted all of their troubleshooting steps and was referred to Mojang after being able to login, then play, Minecraft on our Xbox One. I was literally about to file a trouble ticket myself until I ended up resolving the issue myself.
The troubleshooting steps I was told to try were:
Delete my profile information (That option is not under settings. If you go to "Manage Account" it pulls up the Xbox app, where you should be logged in. My Xbox app wouldn't open. They both stopped working at the same time. )
Deleting and reinstalling Minecraft & the Xbox app. (That didn't work either AND I lost my worlds)
What DID work was Xbox Live Authorization Manager . It's located use Task Manager/Services. It had become unchecked at some point in time. I'm honestly unsure how it happened to begin with. At any rate, making sure it was checked and running is what resolved my issue. Maybe it will work for some of you as well.

I have been having this issue. https://aka.ms/MCErrorCodes does not work at all. There is no button to actually clear log in data either. If this is not fixed I will be extremely mad.

i’ve also been having this issue along with my friend (both about the same time). tried all the troubleshooting i could find and nothing is working. this is so aggravating, i even lost all my worlds from reinstalling the app!!! what the heck microsoft or mojang or whoever

I am also unable to use my account on Windows 10, and there is no button to clear the data under the profile setting. Uninstalling/Reinstalling does not do anything either. Nor do the steps listed in the link. It was fine until yesterday evening.

Come on guys ! This is open for over a year ! The actually issue here is that it never triggers the sync with the server (the syncing prompt that you see that will download the saves from the cloud). I tried removing local save file, then resetting the whole console and reinstalling Minecraft but nothing works ! The prompt never appears to be able to sync ! Of course trying to login from settings does not work either !
Recent August update seem to fix the issue ! I was finally able to login and sync my profile on Xbox!

Just encountered this issue yesterday when trying to install/play Minecraft (PS4 disc version) on my PS5 for the first time.

The issue is happening on Windows 10. Here is a video that proves it
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1008kWKTE54oO10_lFLbcvkIv-3bHvs35/view?usp=share_link
I cannot play the game, please fix it.

I finally fixed it by turning on these services

only three days later it was fixed for some reason meaning that i can finally enjoy my minecraft experience with my existing account
i uninstalled minecraft on my phone meaning that i can enjoy anything online on my pc without hesitation

Has anyone found a way to resolve this on a phone?

Is there a way to solve it on mobile. It's been over 2 days and still no help. Also I did the troubleshoot help but nothing happened.

I'm having the same issue on 1.18.12 86x. PC

I thought I was the only one having this issue
Please solve it on android mobile

I've been trying to logon on my tablet for almost a month now with no success. Tried all recommended troubleshoots, no success. I can logon to the desktop version, but not my tablet.

I was having this issue on Minecraft for Windows 10. I went through all the troubleshooting steps and even tried launching the game with my device in airplane mode to see if I could get a different error message (i.e. network connection error), but I just get the same vague "drowned" error.
In the end Will's solution worked for me. Somehow the Xbox Live Authorization Manager service was disabled; After manually starting the XblAuthManager service from services.msc, I was able to sign in without issue. I can't imagine what the workaround would be on other devices though.

This is currently happening to me on the nintendo switch with v1.20.41. It was working before this update was applied.
I have done the following:
restarted the device.
click the settings button to disconnect my micro$oft account
uninstalled the app from the device and re-downloaded it
Deleted the save data for the device through this process: https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/27449/~/how-to-manage-%2F-delete-game-save-data
none of these allowed me to successfully navigate the https://aka.ms/remoteconnect process to have it successfully login my device.
I continue to get this "drowned" code when trying to connect my switch. I tried to contact support and they sent me here.
I should note that I'm trying to sign my son into his account.
I'm able to use login to other accounts on my PC on the same network. Something is wrong with nintendo switch login process... Please fix.

I am another victim, I started getting this error out of the blue a couple weeks ago. Everything had been working fine previously; my son could login via Microsoft and play online with his brother and cousin in the same world. Now I get code:Drowned after every attempt to sign in via Microsoft, and I have one kid who can't play with his brother and cousin. What's the deal with this bug? Years worth of reporting and no solution? All of the troubleshooting steps suggested by Minecraft support are useless (check internet, close and restart software, switch) and they finally just sent me here, which is essentially saying "oh well I guess you're screwed". This is incredibly frustrating and not at all what I would expect from support for a login issue. It seems they haven't bothered looking into it and don't mind having all of us wasting time trying to fix it on our own. Come on, man!

I've got the exact same problem @preisen or @jamesjnadeau explained below.
My son cannot play anymore with his friends or even me.
Everything was fine the day before.
I got an email from the support than sent me here, with no solution excepte internet issue or restart the game... Of course it does not fix anything as the Switch is OK with all others games and Internet "things".
COME ON MICRO$OFT!
P.S: the pinned solution is for Windows ONLY. It's obviously not working for consoles (Switch & PS)

I'll reply to myself.
I finally "fixed" this issue by changing the way I sign in to Microsoft services.
It used to be with a temporary code sent to my email address, by default.
Changing this method to a password authentication one allowed me to login to my Microsoft account in Minecraft (Nintendo Switch).
I can't believe it, but it's real. How can this king of company can have such a miserable infrastructure and products?

I had the same issue with my son's Minecraft on PS4. Minecraft support couldn't help and referred me here.
It was a struggle, but I finally resolved it. Here are my steps, which I hope will save time for someone else:
The first thing I noticed was that, when logging into my son's MS Live account, there was a continuous refreshing loop at account.live.com. To fix it, I recovered the account here: https://account.live.com/acsr.
Then, I followed the PS4 instructions to sign in with Microsoft by entering a code at aka.ms/remoteconnect. Instead of confirming my identity by getting a single-use code, I changed the method to confirming by password.
After I entered the password, everything went smoothly, and the login worked without any errors, finally.

On iOS you can use another device to use remote connect to try and help this issue.
[media]
Same issue, on Nintendo Switch, for a child account . Have successfully authenticated via both the on-screen QR code and remoteconnect. After authentication, the Switch reports Failed to Login with ErrorCode: Drowned.
Note I can authenticate with my own account but the whole point of the guardian account is to limit access to marketplace, etc.

Sounds like we're all in the same boat. Worked for our kids one day, broke the next. Stuck between terrible Nintendo support and terrible Microsoft support.
Despite support and I both knowing that it wouldn't help, we re-initiated the Switch device again, installed Minecraft again, went throught he multi-authentication process again. Then waited the fake 24-hours AGAIN. Still get "Cutesy Error Message: Drowned".
Then support finally just sent me here, and told me to "vote" for the developers to fix it. Can I add the eyeroll emoji here? (strangely, they seem to have disabled that particular emoji. )

I also had this issue with my son's MS account on a PS5.
Like others we were seeing the continous refreshing loop when trying to sign in at https://accounts.microsoft.com
I went to the additional security options page (https://account.live.com/proofs/manage/additional) (was able to sign in to this fine by getting a code sent to my son's email) and on this page selected the Change Password option.
I don't remember previously having set a password for this account so it's possible it was set up as passwordless. Now when I sign in at https://accounts.microsoft.com I use a password (the first time after changing the password I had to select the option on the sign in page to use a password rather than sending a code). The account page no longer auto-refreshes.
Tried Minecraft again and it now worked. On my phone I had to enter the password after scanning the QR code from the PS5 screen.

Login to Microsoft/XBOX-Account is working fine on Nintendo Switch and a physical Windows 11 machine plus virtual Windows 11 machine (running on HyperV on Windows 11 host - another physical Windows 11 machine).
But on the Windows 11 host itself login was NOT possible. Several uninstallations (of Minecraft Launcher + Minecraft Bedrock) and re-installations were not helping.
Finally, I got it fixed while manually activating "Xbox Live Auth Manager" service. On the other Windows 11 devices, this service was running by default. I have NO idea, why it was not running on this single machine.
Btw.: Login with same account on same machine in Minecraft Launcher was possible. Entering Bedrock from the Launcher... login was failing. Entering Minecraft app directly... login was failing.

@callumblack - this worked! my own account could sign into https://accounts.microsoft.com but the boy's account was looping. I added a password to his sign-in options (previously set to emailing a one time code) and chose this option on the sign-in... and it worked. thank you!

This error code has been a problem for me for months. None of the things they had me do helped resolve this. I ended up making a second account and it ALSO started giving me this error code last week. This is the worst. I spent money on this account that I now no longer have access to and all they can say is "sorry this isn't the outcome you were hoping for" Thanks for nothing.

I had same issue on PC, and heres how i fixed it:
Use 'Window key + R' , and type 'services.msc' and press 'comfirm'
Once the services opened, find 'Xbox Live Auth Manager' , 'Xbox Live Game Save' , 'Xbox Live Networking Service'.
Right click on them, and press 'properties(R)'
Check if their option is 'Disabled', if they are, follow the 5. but if not, this method won't work, meaning you have different issue.
Change the option in 'start priority(E)' into 'Manual' option, and press 'comfirm', make sure you do this on 'Xbox Live Auth Manager' , 'Xbox Live Game Save' , 'Xbox Live Networking Service.
Once you finished, You will be able to login without restarting the Minecraft.

Same issue (Code Drowned) on Minecraft Bedrock 1.21.1.03 while playing on Bluestack X Android.
Worked fine on the 1.21.0 version, started the errorcode right after the update.
Resetting userdata did not resolve. Other solution posted here (starting services) are not applicable for Android.

I have the same problem on an I pad 5th generation… I don’t know what to do

Hi! I am having the same issue as well suddenly! Everything was working just fine less than 12 hours ago, but now every time I try to log in I get the error code "Drowned" as well. (I'm playing on an android phone.) I tried going to the website mentioned in the note, however I just get a 404-error and get sent to the "We're Ssssorry" page
The recent outage is being tracked at WEB-7272.

I got this issue today, wasn't a problem yesterday. Don't know why it happened, all the servers' statuses say they're up and running, and I updated to 1.21.1.03 some time ago so idk why it happened so suddenly. I tried all the fixes I could do on android, nothing worked. Hopefully it will be fixed soon.
ETA: login function on the Xbox app and website is unaffected for me

> Changing this method to a password authentication one allowed me to login to my Microsoft account in Minecraft (Nintendo Switch).
This method solved the problem.
Platform: Nintendo Switch
Version: 1.21.23
Support only sent me the standard minutes and did not resolve the issue.
Thanks to the forum here.
> I can't believe it, but it's real. How can this king of company can have such a miserable infrastructure and products?
Agree with this.

Having this problem on the switch for 3 days now. I've done EVERYTHING and it still won't let me login.

Hello
A login error has been occurring on the Nintendo Switch version of Minecraft for about two weeks. I've searched and tried everything I've found, but I still haven't found a solution. Please tell me how to solve it
model iPhoneSE nintendo switch lite

I repeatedly was greeted immediately with a Failed To Login Error Code: Drowned when I tried to log in and run the Windows 11 bedrock version v.1.21.73 of Minecraft Bedrock after launching its Bedrock version through Minecraft Launcher, with no way to roll back to an error-free v.1.21.73 version of Minecraft Bedrock for Windows 11 through its Minecraft Launcher, thus with no access to my account’s marketplace downloaded content, yet I can launch Minecraft Java edition through the exact same Minecraft Launcher just fine with no such login errors.
Yet I am able to log in to the Android bedrock version v.1.21.72 of Minecraft without any login errors (and can access marketplace with downloaded content, including paid downloaded content, and Minecraft coins just fine in the Android version v.1.21.72 without any problems).

Addendum: with no way to roll back to an error-free v.1.21.72 version of Minecraft Bedrock for Windows 11 through its Minecraft Launcher, [ v.1.21.73 probably isn’t login-error-free ]
