I am having the same issue on the Switch version today after the update and also it keeps doing an autosave literally every 30 seconds.

migrated

Girlfriend and I updated to 1.19.60 on our Switches just half an hour ago and we are experiencing the same thing. The game freezes for a second or two and then continues on jittery and repeats the cycle a few moments later. Was bad when she was playing single-player and definitely not any better when I connected and came into her world. Noted that it seemed like the auto save was taking a very long time as well.

migrated

Also having this issue on my switch OLED with version 1.19.60 since the patch.  Frequent stutters in video, and it seems to be saving nearly constantly.  1.19.60 seems to be running better on my fiancee's older switch v2 even when we're playing together on the same world at the same time she hasn't been having the same issues.  The only other difference is that she is playing off a hardcopy and I have the downloaded version from the Nintendo eshop.

migrated

I uploaded a video example of the bug, very frustrating i must say.

migrated

alberto_balsalm's video is a perfect representation of what we're seeing and experiencing since 1.19.60.

migrated

Also experiencing this.  Game is basically unplayable on switch.

migrated

Same issue and the lag is even worse during auto save

migrated

I also have this issue since updating to 1.19.60 on Switch OLED. Block/chunk loading painfully slow too

the main world save that it has been happening on is a 15.9mb save size, online world. i created a new world with multiplayer off and it still did the glitch, though not as bad. so the issue that is taking place is the game will freeze for just a brief moment then unfreeze and continue. any where from 1-10 seconds later it will do it again. this continues as long as i am playing. i sat fishing for about 20 minutes then moved and it froze. it is less frequent while fishing. also it is more frequent when running. block rendering also does take much longer since the update. i sat after running to the edge of visible block for over 2 minutes waiting for the blocks to render and appear.

migrated

Confirming everyone else's comments, noticable and sometimes severe performance issues after 1.19.60 update on Nintendo Switch.

Save size: ~20mb, single player world. Freeze occurs every 1-10 seconds for about 1 second, then continues. Freezes worsen when running, in villages, interacting with villagers, etc. Chunks load in even slower than before. None of these issues were present on the previous version.

Will second that @alberto_balsalm video attachment is a great representation of the issue.

I've had this problem for some time. Today my main local world is relatively big, I explored the Nether and the Ender (my savegame is > 200mb). I have 2 Nintendo switchs, up to date, with Minecraft 1.19.60, and the problem is present on both. The game is installed directly on the console (and not on the SD card). No mods installed. Today, the game is no longer playable, even by lowering the settings.
From what I have seen:

  • There are big slowdowns, or freezes, during auto saves

  • Slowdowns occur when data/assets are loading

  • During these slowdowns, it often happens that no sound is heard, and suddenly, when it seems to be unlocked, all the sounds are played at the same time

  • The more the size of the save increases, the more the slowdowns are important (almost no problem with a freshly started game, but very quickly the slowdown occurs the more you start to explore it)

  • Some biomes pose more problems than others (example: Basalt Deltas).

  • When using a boat, the elements load very slowly, and the screen only displays white. By remaining motionless for a moment, the elements are displayed slowly. Same problem if you run fast.

  • Nether loading is also slowed down. Once through the portal, and the world loaded, the screen stays on the Minecraft logo for a long time. If an ostile mob is nearby, he has plenty of time to kill me before the screen appears.

For me, there is an obvious link between the size of the save file, and the loading of data/assets

I confirm this issue in v1.19.60. Game often freezes for 5-10 seconds and sound effects pauses (maybe related: MCPE-154110).

When traveling on boat textures load very slow — need to wait 10-20 seconds to draw blocks (maybe related: MCPE-162424).

Also game freezes when using inventory, making hard to play split screen (maybe related: MCPE-156497, MCPE-162277).

migrated

Same issue, everything was fine in my nintendo switch until yesterday, when the update for 1.19.60 was downloaded and applied. From that point most of my saves are unplayable; saves weighting more than 15MB lag every few seconds; small saves (3-5MB) do not lag that much, but still lag

I have the game in SD card. I tried to remove the SD card, totally uninstall and then reinsert the card, but I keep having the same issue

Confirming what others have said....

To add info  asked for @Mention [ [Mojang] Mega_Spud (Jay Wells)|https://bugs.mojang.com/secure/ViewProfile.jspa?name=Mega_Spud]

My switch is a Red Blue Joycon model (Non OLED) - I play with switch in Dock hooked to TV and use a Nintendo Pro Controller.  System v 15.0.1 (up to date) Minecraft v 1.19.60

Does this affect every world, or just larger world saves?

Appears to affect every world - I first noticed it on my current world which is relatively small/ New but  with a number of farms and redstone use. I had just played it before update with no freezing and glitching. After update it started freezing. ~170MB

I created a new world  last night, currently about ~ 12.9MB initially freezing and glitching was not as noticeable  (Little freezing but more lag than normal) but as I created more it seemed to get worse. When I added Bees to my garden by growing birch trees by flowers (3 hives total) It got much worse. At the same time I explored a little further from base which could also have triggered it.

I then checked an old world from last year ~151MB No red stone use and it was freezing and glitching.

Do you see the problem when playing on Realms or multiplayer worlds, or just local worlds?

These are all single player local worlds. **

Please try and include the following steps to reproduce the problem:

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open existing world or create a world
2. Play as normal.
3. Most noticeable when moving and turning through the world. On new world became worse as base was developed and world explored

Observed Results:
World Glitches and Freezes - very noticeable while moving or turning in world. The movement will stutter or freeze. Freeze is often quite long. Like several seconds.

Expected Results:
Game play should not glitch and freeze - Nintendo Switch gameplay does show a fair amount of lag but this goes beyond just lag into actual freezing of the video for several seconds.

migrated

We are also experiencing this issue since upgrading to 1.19.60. The difference is quite noticeable between the previous version and this version. It's quite painful to play now.

I wonder if there's a way to mitigate from user's side, like switching off certain features or reverting the update. Please share if anyone has any idea. Thanks!

migrated

I have experienced the same problem. I also notice that when the game freezes, the background music still plays on. But sounds of animals (goat farms etc.) stop.

I have a world of appr. 75 Mb. When I am in an area with a loth of farms (cow, sugarcane, melon, pumpkin etc.) I experience more lags and they last longer. In an area with no farms there are very few lags.

migrated

I am also experiencing this issue. Not sure if its actually freezing or extreme lag. Opening inventory produces the wait animation. Sound is seconds behind an action taking place. Can freeze for several seconds when moving or breaking blocks.

migrated

Same issue for me. Game freezes every few seconds. The visuals are all frozen and I can't do anything with my character, but once it unfreezes it loads in everything that happened while it was frozen.

migrated

I have the same issue on my switch, started immediately after the 1.19. 60 update. I noticed it doesn't happen when I move in a straight line either in the X or Y axis. As soon as I move through the Y and X axis together so diagonally or while turning, it freezes. Also boats are unusable as any deviation from a straight trajectory provokes a lag. For some reason the nether doesn't seem to lag as much as the overworld.

migrated

I'm also having this problem on switch. Every other second or so it lags. Tried without texture pack, turned off all graphics settings, lowered distance, checked emptier areas like desert vs a village, even tried a default skin instead of custom character. My game is unplayable like this and it's frustrating.

migrated

I tried a lot of different things - Trading out any chest with a barrel, turned off and / or deleted redstone, even created a new world and tried it 0 nothing helped. I am currently checking regularly to see if there is a software updated on Minecraft and when nothing new is found I switch over to Zelda..... It seems this should really have been caught in software testing not released for us to suffer with.

migrated

Confirming what has already been reported here.  Lag seems to increase on larger worlds, For me this is worlds that are larger than 50 mb.  Also lag and freezes occur when in areas where there are lots of buildings and creatures.
I have also experimented with various setting to try and improve performance with no success.

migrated

Any idea how long before there is a fix for this?  It's really frustrating and just unplayable.

migrated

Same issue. Switch has always had issues keeping up with game loading amd rendering, but they have been manageable. However about a month ago the game play started getting progressively worse and eventually started freezing. It has now gotten to the point thatvits unplayable,  there is 10-20 seconds of freezing  for every 5-10 seconds of game play.

Additional info:

-I'm playing the game from a physical disk.

-The world's played in are not online. Just local to the one system. (Less a few purchased packs).

-It is regularly played in split screen mode with two players.

-I tried clearing the cache and deleting all additional skins and packs.

-I tried not logging into the Microsoft account.

-I tried completly disconnecting from the internet

  • I tried turning down every graphics setting

  • and i tried everthing else i could think of but nothing improved it perfomance.

Any time-line on the fix?

migrated

I know it did not contain a fix for this, but if anything, today's update (1.19.62) seems to have made this problem worse.  On the previous version it froze up occasionally on single player but two-player had become largely unplayable due to the frequent freezes. On today's version, single player is now locking up for multiple seconds multiple times a minute to the point where it's impossible to do anything.

We're playing in an established world but not an especially big one, in terms of how far we've wandered from spawn.

Interestingly, it seems time is still passing while the freezing occurs.  If you're attacked by a mob right before the freeze happens, for example, you'll find that suddenly you're dead when you unfreeze.

migrated

Bedrock on the Switch is horribly laggy after the last couple of updates. It's nearly unplayable for my friend and me at the moment!

migrated

Made an account to follow issue and state that stutter is still present on v1.19.62. Game unplayable, especially near mobs and villages 😞 Switch error message pops up occasionally as well.

migrated

Pretty much second everything that @Ikknapp and everyone else is saying. This should have been caught during testing.

Does this affect every world, or just larger world saves? I only have 2 saves. One is 9MB, which i no longer play because I don't like the map, and the other at 70.6MB. I opened the smaller save to see if the problem persists. It is still there but not as noticeable as I do not have any farms in this world.

Do you see the problem when playing on Realms or multiplayer worlds, or just local worlds? I only have local saves and only play single player. No Realms or multiplayer worlds.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Open existing worlds or create a world
2. Play as normal.
3. Move through the world even a few steps, right off the bat from initial load.

Observed Results:

World Glitches and Freezes. It is very noticeable while moving or turning in world, no matter the mode of transportation. The freeze lasts quite a long time and is even worse when the auto save occurs (which happens way more often that it previously was occurring). The glitching/freezing/lagging is especially worse when around villages and farms, i.e. Cow farms, AFK sheep. My larger save has two separate bases both on opposite sides of the map. The one that has more farm animals has a more pronounced lag which makes the game unplayable. I also second what @diagonalfish mentioned in their comment "If you're attacked by a mob right before the freeze happens, for example, you'll find that suddenly you're dead when you unfreeze." This is also especially frustrating because sometimes the sound lag that occurs with the video lag does not even alert you that a creeper/other mob may be behind you and then your work gets destroyed. Then poof your villagers can escape from the villager farm you just spent forever building in survival mode...

Expected Results:

The game should not be freezing at all. It should be seamless game play like it was before this update.

migrated

I also made an account just to vote for this issue and confirm this is still happening. My game will freeze up to 90⚠️ seconds in less than 30 seconds of gameplay. This is simply unplayable.

migrated

Anytime I log into a personal world it will begin to lag almost instantly. It will always do this, online and local connection both.

Something interesting, however, is when I join my friends solo world (not a realm) it does not lag on my end or his end. Being cross-platform friends I connect to his world through an internet connection, switch/ps5. He plays his solo world on his PS5 and me on my Nintendo Switch. I connect to his world through an internet connection

Although when I leave his world and load up one of my solo worlds, the lag comes back religiously.

migrated

Some additional info on top of my previous comment: As game was unplayable, I deleted ALL my worlds (around 10). Then I created new worlds, I have been playing in 3 of them and so far there is no lag... but I have not built much stuff on them anyway. May the issue appear mainly if we have worlds created from previous versions?

migrated

Tested several worlds in 1.19.62 - One of the worlds was created in 1.19.60 for test purposes for this bug. Same same same..... Actually the main world which has more farms and redstone and villagers at base felt worse on 62 than 60. It seemed like it did not long freeze as much but constantly jerked and lagged. I do not get seasick but the motion while moving through the world was nauseating.

The newer simpler world created in 1.19.60 was less noticeably nauseating but definitely showed the glitchy movements.

Very frustrating as I had been kind of on a roll with my world and having fun until 1.19.60 broke it. I am back to playing Breath of the Wild for now.

migrated

Whenever I log on to one of my older worlds that have a lot of data the game can freeze for up to an hour sometimes. Whenever I make a new world and make it have a lot of data it can freeze up to hours. I tried to delete my old worlds that I don’t use anymore (40 or so worlds deleted) still no difference in the lag. I’m switching games until this is fixed. This is very extreme, but it probably only happens to my Nintendo cause I’ve had Minecraft on it for a long time. My friend on the other hand had Minecraft very recently and his still glitches for, not as long as me, a couple seconds.

migrated

I went to start a new world. For about 5 minutes I had no lag. Then it started to lag very badly

migrated

Also signed up to vote on this bug. Switch version, game rendered unplayable by lag.

migrated

Can confirm this!
My daughters whole world at the moment is Minecraft and it is completely unplayable since the recent update on Switch.
She walks around for maybe 30 seconds then the game will freeze, let her walk another 30 seconds and then the game crashes.

migrated

Commenting again to add some more info- this seems to be caused (at least from my experience) by entities moving. My game lags the most when I'm in villages or near mobs that are moving around, but I get much less lag at my spawner farm as the mobs can't move from one block to the next, even if there is dozens of them. Wandering traders and their llamas are absolutely awful for lag, same with villagers, and zombies that duplicate.

Hopefully this gets fixed soon because even when I can manage to play it, I have to have it on peaceful to cut down on the chance that it'll freeze up and get me killed.

Hangekisobu

Freezes and lags may be due to the re-addition of RenderDragon to Switch (MCPE-142934). Since 1.19.60, a bug where banners are drawn in front of transparent blocks (MCPE-130262)
has also been confirmed on Switch, so we can see that RenderDragon was added.

The solution to this issue is to remove RenderDragon from Switch.

Note: RenderDragon was added in 1.18.30. However, it was removed in later versions due to increased lag and frequent freezes (MCPE-154110).

migrated

Account created to vote for issue and keep it current.

Can confirm issue on newly created worlds as well as previously saved.  Creator mode or Survival.  Immediately started after update.  Have hard reset the Switch and cleared cache out to no affect.

migrated

Same issues here. Im paying 2-3 years straight for online on the nintendo switch but im not able to play it at all. I hope it gets fixed soon.

migrated

Yep. Started playing in January and it worked perfect. Ever since the update whenever i try to move around it just freezes every 10 seconds or so.

Hangekisobu

Severe lag makes me hesitate to apply resource packs (because it crashes as soon as I apply them)

migrated

Signed up also to vote for this issue. Ever since world depth was increased from 0 to -63 have been having problems. In addition to freezing etc. Blocks sometimes not rendered allowing a see through view to other structures in the world and sky colour (blue or black). Rendering can take up to a minute. Currently in old mineshaft which is unplayable as blocks take at least ten seconds to vanish allowing plenty of time for cave spiders to bite me!

migrated

Same things for me, I hope an update soon !

[Mod] OcelotOnesie

This issue should be fixed in the 1.19.63 update.

migrated

That will be great! Thanks

Edit. Tested now and it runs great. Still a few minor pauses when opening the inventory but a vast improvement and once again very playable. Please pass thanks on to developers who fixed this.

migrated

Problem solved! Runs smooth as butter 😃

migrated

Much better! Still freezes a bit and lags on block placing when autosaving but miles better than before!

migrated

Thank YOU! Fixed in 1.19.63!  I verified on a couple of my worlds and they are all back to "normal" lag.... -I do find that one of the farms that had worked before the 1.19.60 update no longer works - It is very dependent on timing and I can no longer get the delay correct. It has always been a bit fragile though.  EDIT Figured this out. While debugging the lag when the bug was first introduced I removed a redstone torch to power off the farm clock- I forgot that when testing - It works fine....

migrated

Still pretty laggy. Chests take a while to open, movement will lag here and there. Not a smooth refresh rate nor substantial fps..

at least I’m not getting 5 fps like last time

migrated

I've been experiencing the same lag/freeze/crash errors that so many seem to be having on Nintendo Switch. 1.19.63 automatically downloaded to my Switch yesterday. Minecraft seemed playable again (still a bit laggy, but played for 15 minutes or so without any freezes or crashes). But today it crashed again twice while trying to play. First time I played for about 2 minutes, game crashed (error screen with message: Minecraft has encountered an error and has to close). Takes me back to the Nintendo Switch home screen. I reloaded and Minecraft started me back where I had initially started playing (it didn't save anything I had done for those 2 minutes). Played again for about 5 minutes, game crashed again. I reloaded and it AGAIN started me back where I had begun playing the first time (it didn't save anything I had done for those 5 minutes). I am playing from a Minecraft game card.

Hangekisobu

if you're still experiencing lag, it could be due to MCPE-137537

migrated

The lag is bad for me. Placing blocks results in a delay. I've even had suffocation occur because of it. It's almost unplayable for me.
