Attention
Note: This report was previously resolved as "Fixed". It has been reopened as it appears that some additional work needs to be done to fix one or more additional causes.
This report is being used to gather all reports of stuck Marketplace downloads on Nintendo Switch devices. A "stuck download" situation is indicated if the Marketplace page for your title has a download progress meter near the upper right corner and it never goes away, or if you're downloading it for the first time, the download progress meter in the center of the screen stops during Step 1 or Step 2 and never goes away.
Workaround: If you have a stuck Marketplace download, first try this:
From the Minecraft start screen, select Settings > Storage.
Click the Clear Marketplace Cache button.
Exit Minecraft (<IMPORTANT!), restart it, and try your download again.
If this doesn't solve the problem, you might want to the consider trying the pinned comment in MCPE-36670.
Original description:
My son bought "Jurassic World Adventure" by Syclone Studios in Minecraft marketplace on his Nintendo Switch account. However we are unable to play it because the download never ends. The progress bar arrives at the end, it says that all 290.7MB have been downloaded, but the installation never goes to step 2.
We have already tried the "clear marketplace cache" method suggested in MCPE-54531 and we are sure there is enough space on the Switch and in the Minecraft user storage.
Any suggestion is welcome. Thanks!

@unknown: Thank you for creating the new report. You might have noticed that another moderator closed it as a duplicate of MCPE-54531. (He wasn't aware that we were planning to close the older ticket.) I have reopened your report and passed it along to Mojang.

I tried again the proposed steps but I still cannot download the map. I managed only to do steps 1 and 2, because the "Cached Data" section is not present on Nintendo Switch.
I closed Minecraft after steps 1 and 2 and restarted the console.
The download arrives at the end of the progress bar but nothing happens after that.

@unknown: Unfortunately, with this being the holiday season it might take a little while before someone at Mojang gets a chance to look into it. But be assured that this is just a delivery problem: Your license to download the title is granted when you purchase it and doesn't depend on anything stored on your device. So once Mojang solves whatever is causing the blockage and the procedure on your Switch is reset, you should have no further problem downloading it.

I've had the same problem on Bedrock Edition on PC. Everything I try to download starts and never goes anywhere. Currently on 1.20.51. Have tried the cache thing but doesn't help.

@unknown: How many is "everything"? (Listing a few titles you've tried might be helpful.) Is this a new problem for you or are the stuck downloads brought forward from an earlier release?
Since you're on Windows, there's another workaround you might want to try.
Export the worlds you care about.
Make sure you have copies of any third-party (i.e. non-Marketplace) world templates, packs, and custom skins you've installed.
Make note of all the component pieces of Character Creator characters you want to recreate. (I'm not sure these characters will be lost, but better to be safe than sorry.)
Uninstall Minecraft (just the game, not the Launcher or Java Edition) including data.
Reinstall Minecraft from the Store.
Recreate your Character Creator characters if necessary.
Reimport your worlds, world templates, skins, and packs.
After this all your owned Marketplace content will need to be re-downloaded, but you can do that a piece at a time as you need it.

Hi!
Since the holiday season is over, do you have any news on this issue for the Nintendo Switch edition?
Kind regards

@unknown: The insertion of an "ADO" number in the heading 3 days ago tells us that Mojang has entered this bug into their tracking system. Beyond that, I'm sorry but we're unable to provide status updates. We're just community volunteers and have no access to Mojang's internal systems.
I'll mention, though, that I was specifically asked to break out this kind of issue on the Switch from other Marketplace downloading issues, so I know the devs are actively interested in it. And because it's Marketplace and Switch related, this is the kind of problem that might get fixed bit-by-bit without being definitively resolved until we stop getting new reports for it, so it's worthwhile trying the workaround again from time to time. You might find that the problem becomes solved for you while others are still affected.

I just hit the exact problem described. I tried cleaning up old world and templates and I also cleared the cache, but still ran into the problem after restarting.

[Jurassic World Adventure] purchased from Minecraft Marketplace on Nintendo Switch Creator: Syclone Studios
So, I still can't play the game because of the same symptoms as the previous person. I can't proceed to step 2, and the download has not finished, so I can't play the game.
My son still can't do it every day? I ask. It seems like he's really looking forward to it, so I hope he'll be able to play the game somehow...
I have tried clearing the cache and reserving storage many times, but nothing changes.

The current game I'm troubleshooting is: 200 Mobs - by Cyclone.
The download reaches 100% fairly quickly then just hangs w/out ever moving to step 2 of 2.
Already tried several fixes before arriving here, including clearing the Marketplace Cache, and all options in the Switch System Settings menu including Delete Software and Check for Corrupt Data, followed by redownloading/reinstalling Minecraft.
Appreciate any help. Thanks!
UPDATE: This is still an issue in the latest version 1.20.61 - purchased games in Marketplace complete downloading, but never moves to step 2 of 2 the installation. Most likely the downloads never gets flagged as completed.

@unknown: The bug tracker gathers information about bugs and submits them to Mojang. It is staffed by a small number of community volunteers. Regrettably, we don't have the resources to offer you technical support beyond any workarounds we learn of, like the one in the description section above. For that kind of help, you might want to try the Community Support Discord.
If you haven't, you might also like to learn more about what the bug tracker is for and what you can expect here: Mojang Bug Tracker Guidelines and FAQ.

The same happens to Warden-Dimension, which is quite a huge DLC with also >100MB.
It works for smaller DLC, though. So my guess is, that this issue has something to do with some checksum-calculation after the download finishes.
This still happens with the just released 1.20.61.
At least warden-dimension worked on an older version. Unfortunately I can't tell which version this was exactly, but it was the version right before 1.20.51.

@Auldrick: Thanks for your suggestions. Unfortunately the Community Support Discord had nothing to offer besides pointing out that that this bug report incorrectly only list version 1.20.51 as affected. As this has been ongoing with every version for at least the last 6 months and is still occurring in 1.20.61, should the affected versions be updated in the Bug report?

This report is a clone of MCPE-54531, which has been closed. As I explained before closing it, several issues were found and fixed under that report, leaving us and Mojang unsure whether any of the many past victims were still being affected–except that we knew Mojang is still working on an issue for Switch. To assess the current state, I asked the historical commenters there to speak up if they still had the problem. The assumption was that if people were still having the problem, they would be watching the report and get email notification, or if they were watching but no longer had the problem they would unwatch it. I got zero responses except for one Switch user, who I requested create a new report since we knew about that; that's this report you're reading now. After one week with nobody else responding, the evidence I had was that nobody on other platforms still had the problem, that their issues had all been fixed. Therefore I closed the report and marked it Fixed.
We have since then received a handful of comments of stuck downloads on non-Switch platforms, mostly Fire-based but there might be something happening more generally. The symptoms sound the same, but that doesn't necessarily mean it has the same cause. As the description above says, those will be handled via MCPE-177684. If your Discord contacts originally reported the problem via MCPE-54531 and are on non-Switch platforms, they can renew their report by commenting there.
There's no point adding outdated versions to the Affects Version/s list. That list is mostly to track whether a problem is still occurring in active releases, because sometimes a problem goes away spontaneously for any number of reasons. That's why we encourage people to help us keep the list up to date. But old versions are only documentary, or sometimes they might be helpful if a coding change is suspected of having caused the issue. But since 54531 was fixed with no objections, we're treating all further non-Switch issues as new bugs, so years-ago coding changes are irrelevant. We can add older versions if we have to, but it takes a special process, so we'd prefer not to.

@Auldrick Thanks for the thorough explanation. I appreciate the work you do here, and agree with not adding older versions. My goal is to help get this fixed by providing constructive feedback.
I can totally relate to the frustration of getting zero responses, and I would have certainly responded to you had I been on the original report. This has been an ongoing issue for my kid for at least 6 months, but I'm new to this bug report.
I noticed a pattern where parents are the ones reporting on behalf of their kids, and if their households are anything like mine the kids may get limited play time (only on weekends). I think that combination of parents doing the reporting and limited play time may result in low bug reports for active bugs, along with slow responses from the users, which obviously doesn't help.

@Auldrick, I finally managed to finish the download! However the map is really slow to play, the game lags a lot... Probably this map asks too much to the Nintendo Switch old hardware... I'll try to tweak some settings, but maybe it's time to move to a pc...

@unknown: That's excellent news! Did it just spontaneously finish downloading on its own, or were you trying to nudge it? If it finished on its own, maybe they fixed it in the Store (which is where the Marketplace content resides). If you nudged something, please share what you did: Maybe it would help others!
By my count, this leaves up to 5 other Switch players who might still have this problem, so we don't want to close it yet. Alenuovo, if you no longer want to get notifications as creator of the ticket, I can assign it to myself. Just let me know if that's what you want.

After a Minecraft update, I deleted the marketplace cache and then it worked. Very slowly but it worked.
If you assign the issue to yourself, that'd be great. Thanks

I'm trying to import a large DLC of 140MB or more, such as Starwars (2020), to Switch, but it gets stuck at Step 1 157.9MB/157.9MB.
Also, using this bug, when you enter a world and close it, you will get stuck saving and your progress will not be saved. Also, in this state, when I opened the Switch's home → Album, it took about 3 times as long to open.
I tried clearing the cache and reinstalling, but that didn't solve the problem.
If the download gauge is 0MB and it does not progress, clearing the marketplace cache and restarting may solve the problem.
Aug 29 2024) Not fixed as of 1.21.22. It was successfully imported on PC and Android smartphone.

My son purchased/downloaded Weapon Fusion by Cubed Creations. Every time we try to load it so he can play it, it gets stuck on the loading screen. I have tried clearing the marketplace cache suggestion but it still won't load.

@unknown: Did you exit Minecraft immediately after clearing the Marketplace cache? We've had evidence that it will only fix the problem if you exit before trying to download again.

Hi, I have a stuck download situation with the Electric Cars package by Octovon. Download reaches the end, but it never goes to Step 2. Have tried clearing marketplace cache, exiting immediately and it doesn’t help. Any ideas?

Confirming this is still ongoing on the latest build on switch. My daughter has been unable to install purchased games for about a year now. There's plenty of storage free, we install all updates, but it never gets fixed...the download appears to complete but doesn't move to step 2. Clearing the cache and/or reinstalling Minecraft doesn't help. Not likely a cache issue - more likely a missing trigger to signify that the download completed and begin the install. Still hopeful on a fix but not holding my breath...it's been a year. Friends and family have been advised to stop giving Minecoin gift cards.

Hello,
I purchased the Classic Shaders texture pack by Square Dreams and the FURNITURE Add-On by XP GAMES and have not been able to download either one. I tried to clear marketplace cache and then immediately restart the game, but it does not work. My downloads keep getting stuck at 0%. I am on the Nintendo Switch. Please let me know what I can do.

We appreciate your patience as we wait for a fix!
I'm told that there's currently a fix for the more general problem (not just the Switch platform) that's already been released in the Preview/Beta release and that, barring some unexpected problem with it, should be included in the next full release. We don't have a firm date for that, but many YouTube creators who closely watch for such news are saying they think it'll be in June. Let's hope that provides a solution. But please, if it doesn't, don't hesitate to comment that you still have the problem after the update. I'm keeping a close watch on these Marketplace issues and I can tell you with certainty that Mojang isn't neglecting them, despite how long it takes.

All: A fix went into Preview 1.21.10.20 today for the general problem (similar to this, but not Switch-specific). If you are playing the Preview version, I'd appreciate you letting us know either way whether it fixes the problem for you.
If you're not using the Preview version, we're probably just a week or two away from retail release 1.21 dropping, so stay tuned and keep your fingers crossed! We might finally be in the last days of this issue!

This appears to be an issue when downloading Dragons ++ ... we have cleared the cache (multiple times) and verified there is plenty of storage space, powered off the device, etc daily over the course of the last 10 days and the download stalls after eaching 100%

Now that release 1.21.0 is out, all known problems with hung Marketplace downloads should be fixed (on all platforms).
If you are still having this problem,
First try the workaround shown in the description - even if you've tried it before. Be sure to restart Minecraft after clearing the cache (people seem to think it's ok to skip this step for some reason).
If that doesn't solve the problem, we need to hear from you. Add a comment with the exact title and creator name for each item you're trying to download.
I will wait up to 2 weeks from the date I post this. If there are no new comments in that period, we will consider this problem fixed and resolve this issue as Fixed. If you have a problem downloaded Marketplace content after that, you will need to create a new bug report.

Hello. Unfortunately, 1.2.1.0 has not resolved the issue on switch. Same symptom as before, the download completes but it never moves to step 2. Tried the recommended cache steps as well as general troubleshooting - reinstalling the game, disabling auto-archive, moving the game data from the SD Card to System, deleting old worlds and resource packs, singing out and back into Microsoft... but nothing helps.
Important: we discovered that the issue is happening on the main profile only. The installations complete successfully using a different profile, but cannot be played as you are asked to re-purchase the templates in order to play.
This was tested with both games below:
Captive Survival 2.0 – by HorizonBlocks
200 Mobs – by Cyclone

@unknown: Thank you! That sounds like really helpful information. Unfortunately, I don't have a Switch and don't understand enough to do anything with it myself, but I will pass it on to the developers (via our liaison). Please keep watching this report closely in case they need more information or want you to try something.

@unknown: After reviewing your issue on your main profile, we believe you have a different problem which has previously been reported as MCPE-36670. Please see the latter for more information.

@unknown: You were right, that fixed it. Thank you! The mentioned report describes a different error, BUT I followed the instructions for deleting all the Minecraft saved data for the profile - and once deleted I was able to install the games.

@unknown: You were right, that fixed it. Thank you! The mentioned report describes a different error, BUT I followed the instructions for deleting all the Minecraft saved data for the profile - and once deleted I was able to install the games.

@unknown: This issue was resolved and the bug report was closed almost 2 months ago. The issue you are experiencing sounds like the one described by user tlev4577892 in the most recent comments, which we were tracking in MCPE-36670. That issue has also been resolved, but the workarounds published in it solved the problem for tlev4577892 and will probably work for you as well.
If that workaround doesn't solve your problem, you will need to search for another bug report that matches what you're experiencing, or create one if there is none.
Incidentally, please note that commenting or updating bug reports that have already been resolved is risky because in general the staff only watch them for further comments and updates for a short time, if at all. You were lucky this time: I was notified of your update because I authored the report, but I had stopped watching it and wouldn't have seen your edit otherwise.
Also, it's fine to update your comments to correct mistakes, but once a little time has passed, please use a new comment to add or update information. Otherwise, your edit is likely to be overlooked, or even if it isn't, it makes it hard to reconstruct the sequence of events or flow of exchanges between us at a later time. (For example, this comment is nowhere near yours that it's responding to.)

Hello, my son bought “Ultimate survival World” and this same issue described above is happening. It gets to the end of Step one download, gets to the full MB but doesn’t go further on to step 2. We tried another game and it went through completely fine there seems to be a problem with this Marketplace game. We tried all the same stuff people have stated but nothing worked. I see this says resolved but it is not resolved. Hoping to get some help here.

Hi! I've been attempting to join my friends Realm on my Switch Lite but as soon as I click to join then click the pop up saying "download add-ons and join". Once I did that it would load for a few minutes before closing and saying it encountered an error. I have moved things around on my switch to make sure there's space as well as troubleshooting by archiving and re-downloading the game as well as outright deleting the game and re-downloading to the same result. I submitted a ticket and was directed to clear the market place cache and close the game before rebooting it and it still didn't work.
Any help would be nice! I just want to play on the realm I was able to join before with my friends.

@unknown: The bug tracker is for reporting bugs. We are not set up to provide support assistance and don't have expertise with your platform. You would likely find more help at outside community resources such as the Community Support Discord or at a Switch-specific Minecraft user group. I haven't checked, but Reddit might have one.
Although I don't really know, it does sound like you might have a free space problem. However, downloading add-ons from a Realm is a different process than downloading Marketplace content, so I doubt that your problem is a match for this bug report.

I have found that there is another bug report specifically about hitting storage limits on Switch when downloading from Marketplace or Realms. Recent commenters should check out MCPE-36670. It looks like that problem may be fixed in the next release (though it's possible the fix may only be to explain more clearly what happened).

In response to MCPE-177765 being reopened, we would like to inform you of the current situation as of 15/Jan/25.
Platform: Probably a 2018 Switch
When trying to download DLC, worlds, textures, etc. that are over 140MB, it stops at 100% of Step 1/2 and does not import properly.
I have tried workarounds 1 to 3 in the past, but it did not solve the problem.
If it does not solve the problem, as stated in the pinned comment of MCPE-36670, there is a final method of initializing Minecraft save data from the Switch management menu after linking it to a Microsoft account, but this is not recommended. All saved worlds will be erased, but if you log in to your MS account again, your achievements and purchase history will likely be restored.
In addition, we have confirmed that some Switches have successfully imported and have screenshots of opening DLC.
If you see a message that there is not enough free space, please see MCPE-36670.

I was directed here when I sought help for an issue I was told is related to this bug. My son is trying to buy minecoins on his iPad and when he does so it says it will only take a minute but never finishes then gives a U-000 code.
This is on an iPad so I thought it might be unrelated but I was told to leave a comment here.

I have recently found that Realismcraft 1.5 by Spark Universe is having the same problem on my Nintendo switch.

I am entering a comment for the first time after the bug report site has been renewed, but it is still not fixed as of 1.21.60.

This is exactly happening to me:

Me too. What is the cause of this? I think the fundamental problem is that the capacity of the world where software doesn't have bugs is very low.

This issue was happening to me some updates ago but for me now seems fixed, but will vote it to be fixed this issue definetely.
