Tridents no longer stay centered in a block while using a EXP farm

Hi there! The newest release that came out on the 30th of October 2019 just caused a bug. I have an exp farm I use in my survival world. It's a zombie spawner with a water direction method to have them drop into a hole where a kill chamber would have a sticky piston moving a slab back and forth with a trident that was thrown into the slab. Normally I could throw a trident into the center of the slab and then turn the sticky piston on, and it would kill the zombies as I am afk. The Trident used to move around a bit but the tip would always stay centered in the slab where it was thrown, keeping the kill zone the same all the time. Now it walks and causes it to fall off the side of the slab, making it useless. I rearranged the design a bit to help, but it still happens. Also if I am one block away from the trident, I can pick it up through the wall. That never used to happen. I hope this gets fixed because it's really my only semi fast source of exp.

Thanks

Anthony.

This is a serious bug that breaks a number of trident killer designs. Especially problematic is the previously unbreaking design where you could throw tridents on stationary blocks in front of pistons and never have to rethrow them. Please fix this with a patch fix ASAP as it has a serious impact on game play and existing mob/XP farms.

Yes this is a very serious thing that affects a huge amount of the community. There is no substitute to trident killers on bedrock edition!

To explain this bug in simpler terms:
Tridents that are thrown on the ground, can get random bits of momentum when they hit a mob. That momentum adds up over time, resulting in the tridents moving around very frequently, and breaking builds.

Trident killers do still work, however, they are not reliable and break very quickly after killing a couple of mobs.

yeah it can really mess xp farms

Please fix this bug. xp farms with trident killers dont work anymore after a couple minutes. I spent days on a witch Farm and and decorated it and now all that time for a trident killer not to work now I have to let them die from fall damage and get like 1/4 the loot. Not satisfied

Ive spent months building a mob farm on bedrock with a full perimeter and my farm is completely broken by this bug is completely unusable. My tridents keep falling off my tridents killers due to random bits of momentum when they hit mobs.

Why is the "relates to" issue a java bug? This doesn't really have anything to do with java edition.

Also, its kind of sad that the issue is marked as "works as intended", since this is legitimately one of the best things bedrock as going for it. Removing/breaking features the community actively loves and cares about, and that have no real impact on the wider game, isn't that nice :/

@Reid You're talking like trident killers have been removed. One specific design is gone but they still work. Its just old tutorials that need to be updated.

Edit: It sounded more direct than I meant it to 😛

@Silentwisperer While you can't push slabs or carpet with tridents on them, you can push tridents directly. I attached a screenshot of a working trident killer (tested using a repeating command block that constantly spawns zombies). The blocks in front are bottom slabs that you stand on. The rest is an observer clock that powers the pistons.

Edit: now that I understand the bug tracking process better, re-writing this comment to more prosaic.

While trident killers can be redesigned to get around this bug, it is not clear right now whether the devs intend for trident killers to continue working or whether they will make further changes to disable them. There are bug reports open that describe the ability of tridents to hit more than 1 mob as a bug (MCPE-60933 and MCPE-46369). If the devs decide to "fix" this mechanic based on these reports, there will be no more trident killers at all. The more recent of these reports is based on the same Java report linked as "related" to the present bug. In that report Jeb states that tridents hitting more than 1 mob is not intended behavior. I draw attention to these facts here because I want those of you who voted and commented on this ticket to be included in what may be an ongoing process of evaluating trident mechanics with respect to and Bedrock-Java parity.

Cant help but feel like I've been slapped in the face along with the other 222 people who up voted this issue.  The real issue to me is that previously it was possible to build a trident killer with a gap in the kill chamber to allow xp orbs to be transported by water stream.  In the case of multi spawners it was a great way to mend gear quickly.  I've tried everything I can think of to re-engineer this behavior using the new mechanics to no avail.  Mojang seems to have broken the cardinal rule which the community has voiced loud and clear.  "Changing features is fine, but don't take them away." If QC or 1 tick block dropping were taken away from the Java community.  The loudest voices and supporters of Mojang would be enraged and I know something would be done about it.  Why is Bedrock brushed to the side when it's the platform that the majority of people play on?  If this is really, a works as intended mechanic someone needs to explain to us why this is "better" than what we had previously.  Are trident physics required to be this way to allow drowned despawning?  I doubt it, but if something like that is the case I think we'd be much more likely to accept the change.
