The blocks don't burn away because they aren't listed among the burnable blocks in the BlockFire class, so fire itself isn't sustained by them, and also doesn't affect them.

RE: Les3awe, then it should not catch fire from lava, as that's just confusing. Either a block should not catch fire and not burn, or catch fire and burn.
I suggest listing chiseled bookshelves still.
I would think that items which are or are crafted predominantly from wood, wool, coal, charcoal, hay bale or plant-related blocks would burn, but not the smoker, rail, lever, grindstone, daylight detector or nether wood, as those are mainly crafted from non-flammable materials.
Can confirm this. Maybe this is because a door is a 2 block structure, however, that shouldn't matter
