Surround sound issues with Logitech headsets

Original title
G35 7.1 Surround Sound headset only playing sound fom Front Left and Front Right (Stereo)

my Logitech g35 headset is able to play 7.1 for Minecraft pc/java fine. the windows 10 version for some reason has 2 channels operating as if the headset is set to stereo. on top of that, I am missing sound for center and rear left and rear right; I can not hear my forward footsteps, block breaking, fire burning from behind, etc.

I do notice if the Logitech Gaming Software is uninstalled, the audio channel in default playback settings is 2 channels, there is no other settings. however if it is installed, it is set to 7.1 only. I am thinking if that is a contribution to the problem as the Gaming Software manages sounds in the default playback devices and perhaps the game does not recognize the third party audio controller.

still happens as of 0.16.1. I uploaded 2 videos: one in the Logitech g35 and the other by a surround sound speaker. although the record only made it stereo, you can definitely make out the difference, but the Logitech record may be quieter on the count that I was trying to get the audio recording to record the right playback device.

5.1-jackconnected.mp4: this was used by surround sound speakers that uses the multicolored jacks (green, yellow, black) and the sound can be heard from all around. no issue at all

7.1-OneUSB-LogitechG35.mp4: a 7.1 surround sound headset that requires Logitech gaming software to use all channels. otherwise without it, the headset will only play in two channels. note how the sound of breaking wood block is not centered, it is sided. not to mention you can't hear my footstep when I walk forward or back, only sides.

I thought it would be a windows 10 problem, as if all windows game apps is suffering from the same problem. this is not true, as Gears of War 4 can support the Logitech g35 with no issue when it first came out.

Virenbar

I have the same issue in version 1.1.0.

migrated

yep, as of v1.1.0 (1.1.55 in store) I can still only hear from the front left and right speaker of the headphone but still is treated as 7.1, giving a "broken 3 other speakers in headphone" feel

migrated

I'm having this issue as well. This actually makes the game unplayable for me. Sure would be nice if there were some advanced options in the sound menu other than just volume, that I could play with to maybe make it work in at least stereo.

I've tried disabling the surround on the headset, and re-configuring the headset in the windows sound panel. Just updated Logitech drivers, and this is still happening...and how is this unconfirmed?

I'm on 1.1.5 and this issue is reproducible...very easily. Just use logitech g35 headset. That's all you have to do. I'll add anything else if I find something useful.

I'm still trying to figure out any work around but this is VERY frustrating and it's been ONE YEAR since this has been reported! Somebody seriously needs to get their shit together. I'm sorry, I know that kind of attitude resolves nothing, but this has been a year now and nothing. No fix, no suggestions, no information at all about what else MIGHT be causing it (if it isn't a bug in minecraft). It's bad enough Microsuck decided to make ANOTHER VERSION (yes, I know win10 is basically PE...) of minecraft instead of FIXING THE JAVA Version (and by fixing, I mean getting the @$#% away from Java), but I have to deal with this kind of crap too? I just don't know how I can't complain about this. I'm playing in less than ideal conditions because I can't run a dedicated server, but my friends and I can't use Java because one of us has an oculus and the VR mods for the java one suck apparently, and even if we could play the Java one it has it's OWN issues and I'm just ranting now....I'm sorry. I'm not deleting anything I said because it's true and frustrating, but I'm not saying anything else off topic.

Just please, someone look into this or provide some useful information, a workaround or something. If I figure out something, I'll post it here, and I'm going to continue to try and figure out a fix or work around.

migrated

I found a fix for this...or a workaround rather. It only requires that you uninstall the Logitech G35 driver and delete the driver as well. Then, make sure the Logitech software is not running and unplug your headphones then plug them back in. I believe that is the process i used to get it to install the windows driver which will install them as stereo only. Go ahead and flip the dolby switch to off on the headphones, you won't be using logitech's built in dolby virutal surround anymore.

The next part has some requirements; you must have windows 10 and the creator edition update (there may be other methods, but this is the only way I know for sure). The creator edition includes a virtual surround format called "Windows Sonic for Headphones". You should be able to use this, and tick the "Turn on 7.1 virtual surround sound"....that SHOULD do the trick and minecraft should now not only work, but you will have virtual surround so you can hear zombies behind you!

I personally downloaded the Dolby Atmos software and am using it, but it's $15 and I'm not sure that it really matters.

If you don't have the creator edition, you will have an annoying problem that I'm not sure how to get around. If you can find virtual surround software online that will work with stereo headphones, then that should do the trick as well, otherwise, you're stuck with stereo, but at least minecraft's sound won't be broken.

To the developers....WHAT HAS TO BE DONE FOR THIS BUG TO BE CONFIRMED! Please advise as this ABSOLUTELY is an issue with minecraft...I just don't know exactly how or what information is needed to get it solved.

Thank you!

I also have the exact same problem with the sound. But I use a slightly different headset but is still Logitech.

It is a G430 7.1 Surround Sound Headset which uses a USB dongle connectionto create the 7.1 surround sound with the logitech gaming software application/program and the headset driver. All the other applications that I have used and the windows store apps have worked with the headset but the minecraft bedrock edition (right now v1.2.1) the sound is exactly how the person who issued this problem.

Liam Flower, please see my comment above, it will solve the issue. Pretty ridiculous that we have to resort to a work around, but it's the only solution. Alternatively, if you haven't already, you might try the DTS virtual surround option that's on your screen there.

And again, DEVELOPERS, what has to be done for this bug to be confirmed? Am I just going to constantly get ignored? IS THIS ISSUE just going to get ignored? My burning passion has faded because I found a work around that I'm satisfied with, but it's BS that I had to find a work around in the first place.

migrated

Still having this issue. Confirming for Minecraft Bedrock 1.12.2

I don't understand why Minecraft (bedrock edition) does not support 7.1 surround sound. My footsteps are completely silent when running forward/backward, and placing/breaking blocks is completely deafening in one ear (but no sound in the other).

My apologies for what I said previously. After re-reading it, I re-considered what you said and will use the provided work-around. After a little bit of testing, I've decided that I'll try using Windows Sonic instead of the logitech drivers for a few days/weeks to see if I see a noticeable difference.

migrated

First of all, back the tone down. I'm not forcing you to do anything. Second, this is not a temporary solution, it's a permanent fix, albeit a work around. Also, Logitech's built in surround sound is a dolby virtual surround technology, not logitech's own, and Windows' "surround sound" option is actually a virtual positional audio option which is potentially superior to 7.1. You can also get dolby atmos for headphones which, while it cost $15 IS without a doubt superior to the Dolby technology provided with logitech's driver. And you do NOT need to uninstall the logitech software, only it's DRIVER. I only said to CLOSE the software while you plug the headphones back in so it would not reinstall the logitech driver. I use the software for more than my headphones too.

And finally, you're absolutely right, this is bullshit. Moreover, they are not even acknowledging it as a problem when it clearly is. Bottom line though, my solution works, it works VERY well and after having done it, while it is technically a work around, I don't consider it some "patch job", it is amazing plain and simple. And even if this issue was fixed I WOULD NOT go back to using the dolby virtual surround included with logitech's driver. I might buy the $15 dolby atmos license though (although I'm very happy with windows sonic)

migrated

Is there a way to fix this besides going in to the creaters update?

migrated

Exactly the same problem for me.
Game version is 1.2.3
Headset is Logitech G35

I will try and upgrade to the creators update now and use the workaround

PLS fix this problem

migrated

I have same issue. G430 headset. Game doesn't recognition the headset plugged into USB through logitech drivers so I cant hear sounds. Just some of the sounds are heard and they are really soft and sound like coming from the back of my head.

In the windows 10 edition the sounds worked fine because i could change the sounds device option. But this got removed for BTU. All you need do is put it back in to Windows 10 versions.

migrated

The G930 headset has the same issue. Looking forward to a fix soon.

migrated

I have a logitech g35 and I have an issue with sounds when I play in multiplayer. I can't hear objects or sound sources that are directly in front of me. But when I change my direction so that the object is either to the left or to the right of me, I can hear the sounds.

migrated

If your looking for a solution, just turn off surround sound in the software by hitting the power button.

migrated

Or, you know, they could just fix surround sound support.

migrated

still an issue at 1.7

numeritos

Still an issue at 1.11.1. I hope this issue is fixed shortly, users with this problem can't play MCW10 properly...

migrated

Running v1.11.4 and have this issue, except for me the sounds seem to come out of the Left Surround and Right Surround channels, rather than the front channels. Turning off surround sound in the Logitech app does NOT fix the problem.

migrated

Can confirm for 1.11.4.

Minecraft Bedrock Version (win10) : 1.11.4
Logitech headset : G430

I'm having the same bug audio like everyone having a logitech headset with 7.1 audio/surround sound

I cannot hear in front or behind me front/back walking sound is every reduced and glitched , when i walk to the left , the sound is normal but appeers to right , same to same to right

So i have 1 solution that work :
-disable surround sound in logitech software or switch to DTS (both have terrible sound but if i can sound is doesn't matter)

Sorry for my very bad english

Yes this is still an issue, "build date: 2019-05-20" I also have the issue of surround sound on Logitech g35, BUT I have a fix. What you will want to do:

1) open Crotona on windows 10 and search for "change system sounds"

2)press enter and go to the recording tab

3)right click stero mix and click properties(if you have it, if you don't this won't work)

4)click the listen tab and check the listen to this device box.

5)select playback through your "Logitech g35 gaming headset"

6)click apply and close the window

7)right click stero mix again and set it as your default device

8)go under the playback tab and right click your speakers or any other playback device, but not your G35 gaming headset, and set it as your default device

9) click OK and now the sound plays through your headphone (but it will also play through the other device too)

This is a "quick and dirty" fix for this because you will have 2 audio devices playing sound at once, unless the one audio device doesn't work, like a broken pair of headphones. Mojang and Logitech aren't seeming to help so this will have to do. If anyone wants to refine my method go ahead but this works. Good luck!

Confirmed in 1.12.0

Still an issue to this day... Just to restate the issue, I have the Logitech G430 (which works great on every other game/program I've ever used and I've owned this headset for 5 years now) but when playing minecraft for windows, for some reason audio only comes out of the left or right speaker, never simultaneously. So when running straight forward or straight backwards there is no audio at all. Also if you move the cross hair slightly to the right or left while running straight forward, the audio will cut in on the side you move to then quickly cut out. I played for around 45 minutes and had a headache from this afterwards. It's quite ridiculous this there's no fix for this issue yet, it's been 3 years... PLEASE release some kind of patch to fix this or at least address it on this post or something, I was excited to play minecraft for windows because some of my friends were on xbox and it would be nice to be able to play with them but this is really a deal breaker for me.

Same.I still have this issue from yesterday. The sounds are being cut off and really weird.Mojang team.WHAT DO WE HAVE TO DO TO FIX THIS ISSUE OR SOMETHING?! smh

migrated

This issue is getting annoying.

How many minecoins do I have to buy for this issue to be fixed?

The problem resurfaced on new headphones when i went on a different computer. at time of original incident, minecraft was in stable branch (not beta from xbox insider), the pc was on fast ring early access and headphone were g35. i have not spoken since i got new headphones, g633, which were working, except for a very low volume from behind. now i am on a new computer for the moment that is on normal update branch, minecraft is on the beta branch from xbox insider (1.14.0.52), and now the problem is back for the 633: only can hear from the side (can only make out the cropped side stepping sound)

migrated

Hey all, i had this exact same issue with my headset (Sennheiser PC 363D) and found a solution within Windows.

Go to Settings > System > Sounds > Device Properties and turn on Spatial sound (Mine says 'Windows Sonic for Headphones') and now my audio issues in MC are gone.

Hope this workaround helps others.

migrated

This option is not available for my headset (Logitech G35).

Note:  So, here's a fix to fix your Logitech headset to make it have Surround Sound if it doesn't have it.  This is NOT the fix for Minecraft, but a fix for the Logitech headsets in general that are not getting surround sound in Windows.

I unplugged my Logitech g930 headset from a USB 3.0 port, put it in a different port (USB 2.0) and bam.. guess what?  It worked!  I have surround sound.  Again, this does not work with Minecraft.  I uninstalled Minecraft, reinstalled it, and it's still an issue.

This is not just with headsets.  My computer speakers (Gigaware) have the same issue.  They're 7.1 surround sound and when I play music from the jukebox and stand directly in front of it, it's very feint.  When I turn to my left, I can hear it on the right speaker.  When I turn to my right, I can hear it on my left speaker.  When I spin around and face away from it and the jukebox is playing behind me, I don't hear anything at all.  The jukebox test is the best way to see if there's an issue or not.  Also, I've noticed being in a minecart and having your reticle in the middle of the screen, facing forward directly with the rail, you don't hear anything.

Will  update with any additional info I can find or any other workarounds.  So far, none that I've tried work.

Update:  Don't know what happened, but my computer speakers work with the surround sound in Minecraft.  However, my headphones still do not.

I found a fix for this that works for me. I also have a Logitech headset with surround sound, specifically Logitech G430 Gaming Headset, and I went into the Logitech gaming software app, switched to the headphone setting, which you'll see at the bottom left, and you should see a home button, the mixer, and the surround sound option. click on the surround sound option and change from Dolby Atmos to stay headphone x. In my opinion, it's slightly less quality, but miles ahead of no front, rear, and center sound while playing Minecraft. When I made this switch, it felt like a whole new world unlocked to me when I started playing again. I hope this works for you guys too!

migrated

I am on iOS and use my airpods to play minecraft. For me the sound is completely inverted - as in sound plays on the right when its supposed to play on the left and at the back when its supposed to play in the front. I first noticed this when I shot a ghast to my right and it screamed at my left ear. Now I literally cannot unhear it. Pls fix as it is VERY annoying for me☹️

GoldenHelmet

@@unknown your issue has nothing to do with this ticket.

It sounds like you might be wearing your airpods in the wrong ears and backwards. If you're sure you've got them the right way around, please make a new ticket for directional sound on iOS airpods.

@GoldenHelmet I'm sure. I have already made a new ticket. Thx

I've been patiently waiting for over 4 years for this issue to be resolved, only to be told that the only fix possible is to simply uninstall the logitech gaming software.

The reason I got these headphones were for the superb virtual surroundsound and base, one of which doesn't work without the app.

These headphones work perfectly in Minecraft: Java Edition. They work just fine on the xbox. They work with my phone. They work with other games, such as COD, CS:GO, and even older games. They work great with minecraft dungeons, even. They just don't work with the windows 10 edition.

Sure, you can get sound working by uninstalling the software. But you know what? You can get sound working by unplugging your headphones too, and just using your TV speakers.

Four years, twelve duplicates, and 38 emails from being subscribed to this bug only to be told "won't fix". I'm SOOO glad I kept updated on this... /s 😡

Yet another reason to stick to the much better java edition, when the bedrock team can't even figure out how to detect 7.1 audio.

migrated

Java edition has audio issues too. As sometimes my stereo system is not playing sound in that game. I play both Java and Bedrock and bedrock has less issues.

migrated

I have an issue with my arctis Pro (with DAC). Where sound FX are bouncing between left and right ear, and there is a bit of a latency issue. Music sounds just fine, just FX. I also turned off DTS. It seems minecraft windows 10 has an issue with USB headsets. No other games do this. lastly, the issue is intermittent, meaning sometimes the sound is fine. (I'd also like to add that the issue occurs on my laptop, a completely different computer.)

migrated

Simply marking this "Won't Fix" is simply unacceptable. Hundreds of other games (including Minecraft: Java Edition) work flawlessly with Logitech Gaming Software. This is an issue with Minecraft: Bedrock Edition, not with the Logitech headset or software.

migrated

I've created a Feedback issue to protest the Bedrock team's refusal to address this long-standing issue. Please vote for the issue if you have been following this bug. Bedrock Edition should Support Digital Surround Sound – Minecraft Feedback

migrated

This issue seems to affect other kinds of digital surround sound as well. This is likely related: [MCPE-50616] Poor surround sound & background noise with Razer headsets - Jira (mojang.com)

Please re-open this bug. It does not appear to be brand- or headset- specific. This is a problem with Minecraft: Bedrock Edition.

RESOLVED audio on G930 headset!

I posted issue MCPE-71200 on this topic back in April and it has since been RESOLVED for me. In-game sound is better for me with both the surround and stereo software settings in Logitech Gaming Software (LGS).

My Setup:
Minecraft Bedrock (Windows 10) release 1.16.201
Logitech G930 headset connected with wireless USB dongle
LGS release 9.02
Windows 10 version 20H2 (latest)

When launching game: Ensure the headset dongle is plugged in FIRST and the headset's audio device is selected before starting Minecraft.

GoldenHelmet

A friend told me that to get their Logitech audio to work properly with Minecraft they had to manually add Minecraft as a game within the Logitech software. I.e. the Logitech software did not recognize Minecraft as a game automatically. I do not have a Logitech device so that's the best I can describe it. I hope that helps.

migrated

I have used Logitech G hub and G 430 headset and have had the same problem, what seemed to fix it for me was going back to Logitech gaming software 9.02.65 2018 latest version or using a DTS surround sound tech in G hub, but it sound a little bit off for me. Might be only temporary fix but it works that way atlest.
