Steps to reproduce the issue - Open Minecraft Bedrock. Go to create a new world. Attempt to name this new world.
Expected result - Being able to name a world.
Actual result - Unable to enter text and the window enters a ‘lockout’ where all keystrokes stop responding. Unable to use the Esc key to exit the menu and need to manually exit out using the mouse.
Basically, I can’t input text into anything. This ranges from adding servers to renaming items. Anything that requires inputting text doesn’t work.
I did experience a minor version of this issue in the previous preview and reported it. Now in 1.21.120, the issue is even worse.
As far as I can tell, this is NOT the same bug as MCPE-230162. I don’t use an IME and cannot enter any text into any field. I have already tried reinstalling, updating drivers, checking my keyboard and checking my in-game settings. This issue only affects Minecraft Bedrock text inputs. Using the keyboard app on Windows also doesn’t work.
All other key inputs for things like movement and interaction work as intended and I can still navigate the menus with the arrow keys. This issue still persists in the 1.21.130.25 preview.
I’ve attached some clips of the issue to this report.

Hey, thanks for getting back to me! I don’t have any media I can really give you aside from the clips I have already posted.
To answer your questions -
Does this issue still occur in game with no modifications? Yes, it still persists.
Did the issue occur only once, or does it happen all the time? All the time. It used to be sporadic in the last preview.
Have you tried reinstalling launcher and Minecraft Game?
Yes, this was the first thing that I attempted. I’ve also tried updating drivers for everything and using two different physical keyboards. Nothing.
Could you please include details about your device and system (RAM, CPU, GPU spec)?
Sure, here it is. Installed RAM - 16.0 GB, Processor - Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10750H CPU @ 2.60GHz, Graphics Card - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 with Max-Q Design (8 GB), Intel(R) UHD Graphics
Have you tried updating Windows, if it is possible for your device?
I’ve checked since I’m currently enrolled for extended security updates. Aside from Windows 11, there are no current updates.
I’m having the same issue. Also on Windows 10.
A workaround is to alt+tab to another app or moving my mouse to my second monitor and back again. However it only works for that one time for that one text field.
I found someone else on Reddit that had the same issue and they said they had uninstalled and reinstalled the game with no change.
To help us understand and reproduce the issue, could you please include details about your device and system, specifically which operating system version you are running?
If you’d like you can also run dxdiag and copy the relevant information from there. (Win+R → dxdiag) - be sure to remove any personal information, just the PC specs and OS versions would be useful.
Copied over the dxdiag information. Here it is:
Operating System: Windows 10 Home 64-bit (10.0, Build 19045) (19041.vb_release.191206-1406)
Language: English (Regional Setting: English)
BIOS: V1.06 (type: UEFI)
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10750H CPU @ 2.60GHz (12 CPUs), ~2.6GHz Memory: 16384MB RAM Available OS Memory: 16220MB RAM
As for more information about the issue, it started after the Microsoft Store automatically updated Minecraft to 1.21.120. This seemed to try and migrate all of my old game files to the new location but it only seemed to half-work, since it left behind the ‘TmpMinecraftLocalState’ file. Not sure if that has anything to do with the bug, since everything else seems to be working fine, but I remembered that and figured that I should mention it. The alt+tab workaround does work for me as well.
If you need anymore information, please let me know!
YOOOOOO found the fix. it has to do with the mc launcher. just use a different launcher like “minecraft bedrock launcher”. hope this helps everyone and also hope it helps the team fix this issue cause id really like to just use native launcher
That’s not a fix… The Bedrock Launcher doesn’t have the latest version because of the switch to GDK. You’re just using an older, non-GDK version of the game. That’s why the issue is “fixed.”
well the launcher doesnt have the latest latest version but it does have the update i belive i was still having an issue with and typing worked on it
Thank you for your report!
