I left the game to view a game capture on the Xbox, came back to a normal start splash screen, then the syncing popup window, after that the menu screen with no main menu, or the Minecraft header text/splash text.
I screen capped 10 minutes of the event, I couldn't use buttons in case of transparency issue, no screen/ui change, and in the hour I left it up it never shown up.

Did this issue definitely happen in 1.12.0, or is it just a beta bug?

This is not on beta this is 1.12.0

This happens on Beta 1.13.0 too.

I’ve already tried soft and hard resetting the Xbox one, quitting and reloading the game, I’ve gotten the screen to load properly a few times but it takes many many retries to work and then the game crashes and I am back to the beginning.
Is this issue still occuring in the latest 1.13.0.13 beta?

No not any more.

iPad Pro 12.9” Gen 1 on iPadOS 13.4 with Minecraft 1.14.30.
have had this issue happen to me a few times. It’s extremely rare though and I have absolutely no way to replicate it. It’s not at all a damaging bug as restarting the app fixes it for me, but it is annoying if it happens. Whenever on that screen nothing is there. It’s juts empty as described. No buttons, nothing.

Can confirm for 1.15.30.
It sometimes happens, often when you have the "quick start" option on Xbox One (the one that makes your Xbox One turn on faster by not actually turning it off), enter Minecraft, log in, turn off your Xbox and turn on again. And restart Minecraft (force-closing it and opening it again), can easily be fixed by simply closing the game and opening it again.

this bug just happened to me, however I understood how to fix it, just close and reopen minecraft windows 10 edition

The bug is back in 1.16.40

Happening to me right now. I reinstalled mcpe, reopend it and the menu won't load.this is the latest public version 1.16.40 I think. This has been happening for 2 days please fix.

From duplicate report MCPE-103478 from a user with an Android device:
Steps to Reproduce:
Delete and reinstall Minecraft.
Change 'Application' to 'External' in the File Storage Location settings.
Exit and restart Minecraft.
The menu screen works abnormally.
Observed Results:
If you follow the steps described above, the logo, character profile, and all other buttons except the exit notice window will not appear.Expected Results:
The menu screen should be shown as it normally would, and all features should be available.Full Video Screen Recording of the bug:

+ EDIT
The best solution right now:
Move all folders out of 'com.mojang' and move it back to their place.
*This will only work twice until you turn the game off and on again.
If you restart the game twice or force-stop the game, it will glitch
as before. To make it normal again, you have to repeat the above
process. THIS IS A ONE-TIME SOLUTION.*

This bug occurred for me on Switch after dealing a sign-in problem (MCPE-34662) for two days. When I finally got signed in by accessing https://aka.ms/remoteconnect from a different device than I had been using, it went straight from the sign-in confirmation to this bug. Closing the app from the Switch home menu, restarting, and repeating the sign-in procedure from the new device got everything working again.

I now have the same problem. Worked fine for weeks, I've been playing normal. I haven't installed or changed anything. But now, with 1.16.200, boom! Now I have no startup menu and can't play the game at all.
Here's a video:

Just started happening on 2020-12-08
There are some odd little pixels floating there too, I pointed to them with mouse, in video. And if I click at random places on the screen, I hear a sound as if the button has clicked, but nothing happens.
How was this bug reported in the beta, and yet you still released to production?

This just started happening to me as well. I tried reinstalling minecraft and that didnt work.

This is happening to me as well. I've never changed any settings to go into a beta or anything, so I think this happened when 1.16.2 got pushed out. I don't see any menu, although I hear it when I click around the screen.

It's happening to me as well, I have already tried uninstalling and re-installing multiple times. I have even made sure to update my display/graphics drivers and restart the pc multiple times without resolution. I would like to not that I can still click on the screen randomly and hear sound of the menu responding but nothing shows.

If you are experiencing this after updating to 1.16.200, please see MCPE-109870
That bug involves the entire UI (Pause screen, settings etc) being missing, but clickable.

Any mods available to answer why are versions getting added to this as they belong to a newer version of the game, it doesn't necessarily match the issue that I had in the my posted version, but resembles the same bug, and most likely a different coding issue?

@TormentedWill: affected versions are added automatically by a bot whenever reports are resolved as duplicates.
I looked at the 5 most recent duplicates and only one of them was unambiguously a duplicate of the new 1.16.200 bug (MCPE-109870). Unfortunately, many of the newer reports did not contain enough information to differentiate.

This bug appears mostly when opening the new Achievements screen on Nintendo switch.

I can confirm that the repro steps from MCPE-103478 reposted by @unknown is one way to reproduce the bug, by changing the said setting on first launch after install. I also noticed that if I switched from Application to External after a few rounds of closing and reopening the app (I reinstalled again), the bug does not occur.

This is particularly annoying on devices where MCPE takes about 30 MINUTES to start up. Starts up and no buttons. Need another 30 minutes to start up again.

@unknown if you are on an Android 11 Samsung device do see MCPE-117751 (and the workaround in the comments)
