Chat has long delay (up to an hour) before appearing.

Can anyone still repro this?

Its has been happening to my friends realm wich i am part of its been happening for several days and we either use whispers or we chat  on out dc server. Its been very anoying luckily after the chat pops back up then it Goes back to normal for most the time.

Just added a photo showing someone leaving a realm then all the chats coming in after they were gone. This is very common for me. 

This is still happening!! I thought it was reopened and being looked into?

Still happening on Realm that I use. Preivously the delay was around an hour, but not takes about 1-2mins. /say still being used as workaround.

We are having this problem on our realm with severely delayed chats. Everyone will be typing in chat, and nothing coming through, sometimes for well over ten to twenty minutes - and then suddenly all the chats will come through at once. Sometimes after players have gone offline! It is NOT our chat privacy settings, as we all have them open to everyone, and the chats are coming through eventually in a huge bulk, but severely delayed. Please can someone help to fix this?

Seeing this also on our realm. Everything text related seems to be broken (or massively delayed).  Chat, sign text, renaming on anvil, etc.. All work, but only after a long delay (10-30 mins sometimes).

i cant even communicate with my friends unless we call each other mojang fix this

I also noticed that when this problem occurs secondary bugs appear on my realm, namely:

• text written in signs is only visible to the player who wrote them

• book and quill will reset cancelling all its text after being edited 

• items cannot be renamed in an anvil

It happens to me too, I play in the xbox, bedrock, I hope they solve it soon.
Oh and i can't name things in the yonke either

This is still happening to me as well. Text on signs also does not work most of the time, and even when it does work, the next time I log in, the signs will be blank. The realm also randomly crashes and wont allow players to rejoin-- and then backs up to a random place-sometimes with an hour or more of progress lost. The villagers are sleeping on the ground in random places and sometimes when a player dies, it says their bed was unavailable and then respawns them in a random place on the map (not the world spawn.) Yesterday, I dismounted a donkey and walked across the village, but then was teleported back onto the donkey and when i dismounted, I started suffocating in the ground. For twenty minutes or more, the donkey was on two legs kicking its front legs, and other players could see me in the ground under the donkey despite the fact that I was in another place on the map. When I restarted the game, I would once again be suffocating in the sand under the donkey. The realm eventually kicked all players and wouldn't let anyone rejoin for an hour and then reverted back to an earlier point.

Just so u know a way to counteract the bug on 1.17.34 is to use /say.

Thank you for the info! This bug has been reported to Mojang, but we don't have a timeline on when it will be fixed and if even if we did, we probably wouldn't be able to share it here. For now, I think we have enough info on the bug, so if everyone could vote for this issue instead of leaving a comment, that would be helpful! Votes help Mojang more than comments that just state "me too".

Yep, me and friends on my realm have this bug so much that we call it THE chat lag.

/tell works, and so does /say. Interestingly, anvils don't work while chat is lagging, and signs get set to blank (permanently) every time the chat lags. I have a theory that this might be caused by the game's chat filter or something that checks user input, but I have no clue.

the sign thingy is related to this and you can check if its working or not by seeing if you can name things in an anvill

still not working with the last patch...we have started using the /me command and also asked others to try it as a test so far working good. /me mojang fix some bugs before updates tell the BA its time now!

I wonder how many bugs would be fixed if they just removed the unhelpful, annoying chat filter that doesn't filter out things that should be filtered and instead censors normal words. I'm guessing this is also behind the bug where signs don't work, and the bug where feed pictures don't work, and the bug where feed comments don't work... Realms is getting downright unplayable at this point. What am I even paying for? 

This bug is killing realms, when it's happening you also can't write on signs, books or rename stuff in anvils which makes it unplayable, people are leaving for other games. Not many people know about the /say workaround either

I was so hopeful that 1.18 would bring a fix to this issue... but alas, not yet... we still have to use the /me 

Issued voted for. This is quite frustrating since it is a paid service. Having to use /me and /w userName have pretty much killed chat on the server where voice chat is not an option. At this point, we're just about ready to cancel Realms sub and move on to 3rd party server solution. I understand a comment may not be as useful as voting, but I suppose it's at least a little cathartic to voice my frustration. I imagine the issue is more widespread since a lot of folks probably don't want to make a new account to vote. Thanks and we hope it's resolved asap.

This is happening to me too. Just paid for a brand new 10+ player realm and cannot see chat messages sent by other players. The only difference is that even after hours messages are not received. I have another realm opened back in 2019 and messages as of yesterday (when I was last on) were working perfectly fine. On the new realm (the one with the problem) I can see messages I send but they are not received by other players at all. No one has chat muted at all. We can communicate instantly using /w or /say but it is very inconvenient for everyone, and being an OP on the server it fills up your screen very fast as each message with /w is received twice. 

The chat delay is not the only thing that occurs, you cant name anvils Either

Thankfully.. many people got this.. I thought Im the only one aheh.. This is Biggest Issue Ever in history of Minecraft Realm .. brruhh.. This is serious situation.. And please alert and notice that This PROBLEM also stick with :

1. SIGN TEXT MISSING OR NOT WORKING AFTER WRITING
2. BOOK AND QUILL ALSO NOT WORKING AFTER WRITING AND CLOSE
3. NAMETAG NOT WORKING AFTER NAME USING ANVIL

Please fix this.. This is huge problem.. Sound the alarm..!!

It Can Actually Vary Between 5 Minutes To 5 Hours From My Experience

If you go /me you can speak in the chat i think this bug may also be linked to signs, naming items, mobs, and writing in books all not working.

I had to wait 58 hours once for something to come through and this has gone unfixed for 2 patches come on Mojang.

This is 3+ months we have paid for and only received half the service we are paying for. I understand this is a big. But we will need at least half price wile this issue continues. Please don't make us take this issue further. It is obvious that this issue is larger than the numbers voting for it as hundreds of duplicates have be made. Please at least update us.

It is critically important that Microsoft/Mojang understand that this common text issue (text not working in many game elements/modes, apparently mostly in Australian realms) is replicated, tracked and updated across several different bug tracking numbers by different users who all confirm that it has been ongoing for a very long period of time. The frustration levels can be easily felt and to us users as outsiders, it does appear to be largely ignored and dismissed. The other active, open bug reports includes REALMS-9214, REALMS-9223, REALMS-9150 and the biggie REALMS-9191. Perhaps all affected users should join, follow and update all of these active reports to ensure our voices are heard.

If this is something that only affects some regions then it's logical to deduce that this has been caused by an administration issue with those affected regions and all of us who have been PAYING for a realm on these servers should be compensated for not getting what we have PAID for.

I’m in Louisiana, USA. I am having this issue exactly. I am the realm operator, and it’s only happening to me. The realm members are able to see each other’s messages, but my messages only appear to myself. Also, my signs’ texts are disappearing the moment I type them. Please help!

@kcobb0807, I'm having the exact same issue. I'm not the Realm owner, but everyone else in the Realm can write on signs, chat, and see each other's messages. They cannot see anything I type in chat and my messages on signs disappear when I place them.

On my realm, I have a long-time player who can suddenly not see my messages, but I can see his.

Only if I use /tell to whisper to him or all players can he see my messages.

I will test with /me , etc., to see if that also works until a fix is put into place.

I am playing on Android Bedrock and the other player on PC Bedrock.
