We rolled out a server-side hotfix on Friday that addressed some of the issues mentioned on Realms, but we would like to know if this is still ongoing.
Also, could you please let us know if you were using the Caves & Cliffs Experimental Toggle at all?

Yes, this issue is ongoing as I type this. My realm, a few minutes ago kicked me out after stalling. Blocks wouldn’t drop, mobs were frozen, etc. After attempting to log in again it said I couldn’t log in because my profile was already on the world. I tried resetting the game and closing the realm, but both attempts were in vain. I’m currently sitting with a realm I cannot access or log into.
And to answer if experimental was on, no, this is a vanilla world.

We still can't use one of our worlds on our realm. We do not have caves and cliffs on. When I enter the world (on the chance it let's you sometimes it just says disconnected from server and doesn't let you load in at all) but upon entering you can walk around and maybe do things for about a minute. Then everything freezes. You can not open inventory, click anything, and all the animals are frozen still. You can basically walk around and do nothing. We created another world for the time being and although it seems to be working We still get disconnected from it. And today when I went into our new world some villagers we had relocated had de spawned. They were locked away with beds, food, and a bell. But now they are just poof gone. We would really love our first world back we worked so hard on it

This started happening on the realm I play on Friday (September 24, 2021). The realm owner had to rollback to a 2.5 day old backup to get it to work, but it's still lagging a lot, in intervals of approximately 30s, with a duration of 5s, and then it's good again. We checked everything, but no big amount or entities or redstone contraptions are around. And yes, we also play on a addon-less vanilla server, (Edit😉 and no experimental features.
Also, people from Xbox, Iphone, Android, PlayStation and PC play on the realm and everybody has the same issue.

It was still happening for us last night along with blocks unbreaking and villagers standing inside solid blocks. I am on windows 10. My husband is on Xbox. We play together on an Xbox realm that does not have any experimental toggled.

No, Caves and Cliffs is not on. And, yes currently this is still happening.

We reverted to the first save after the 1.17.31 patch, and it undid the world corruption on our realm.

Realms hasn't worked since early yesterday.

I reported my issue separately (which has been closed as a duplicate of this), but to sum up what I've had:
Since the 1.17.30/1.17.31 update, my realms map (which was created over a year ago without experimental features) has become more and more unstable, with weird lag spikes and bits of progress loss getting pregressively more frequent until eventually no one can log in. I tried reverting the save a few times, but it just happens again over a number of hours. When I tried downloading copies of the world to run locally, the older ones (which I I reverted to) ran fine, but the newer, corrupt one's would crash the game either whilst loading, or after a half a minute or so of the game running (I'm running all these files locally on an Xbox Series X). I also noticed that the corrupt file has grown by around 100mb vs the older (hopefully) non-corrupt one (from around 200mb to around 300mb), which seems like a lot for a few hours of play time from two people. I last had this issue (before giving up) on 26/09/2021 (I'm in the UK).
I've since started a new save (using caves and cliffs experimental) on the realm until this issues fixed, and so far (after a couple of days of use) it appears fine. But I see this save as temporary until the old one can be used again, as a lot of time has gone into it.

I have been having the same problem sine the last update. I either cannot join the realm, or when I try to use a backup (not all of which will work) but when I find one that does work it only works for a few moments, then it crashes and kicks me out. When it is working it is super buggy, lags a bunch, freezes, and chests and switches don't work.
Tried downloading the level to play on my device, but that downloaded level crashes or won't load too.
I have tried all weekend and no luck. This happens on my switch and on all of my android devices!
I am using just standard minecraft, no experimental add ons, just meat and potatoes minecraft

The Realms team have deployed a fix overnight which we believe will help with the majority of the issues mentioned regarding the crashes that started happening within the last few days and the resulting loss of progress. Please could you let us know here if you are still experiencing any crashes or performance issues?
Additionally, we are aware that some players were having trouble accessing Realms over the last few days - again this issue should have been mitigated now, but we are tracking the issue here: REALMS-9145.

I had created a new world on Realm when our original world stopped working. The new world would intermittently crash or kick us out. But I currently can not even activate our original world on Realm. It tells me "failed to retrieve realm information" so that's a new issue. I used to be able to at least switch and see if it was still not working.

Just tried to play about an hour ago. Was fine (no lag and the mobs seemed to be working again) but when I logged out, it kicked all other players out, and reverted our game about 30 minutes back, not saving the latest progress. I think there are still issues with realms right now.

I have been hoping on the last few days and just got off 30 mins ago and it's still not working. We were able to go to sleep but then everything froze while we were still able to walk around, the LT was not usable. I would very much like to finish my build, it's quite frustrating.

My realm still will not load. It says that it is building terrain and all of that and then it says "disconnected from Server"

Same here, but sometimes it does let me in. When it does I see that most chunks can't load. I get a lot of empty space.

Our realm is completely frozen now. We can walk around but we can't open chests or inventory and all mobs are frozen. No trading with villagers. It's like time has stopped. There isn't even a night/day cycle.

Earlier today, when I saw that a fix rolled in overnight, I attempted to enter and I actually did, super fast, but, like Duvall mentioned, everything was frozen. No chest, inventory, hopper, opening; no chat messages would send, no chunks would load (graphically, physically they would?). I logged out, asked the realm owner for a rollback to one of the detected safe backups, and they did, but right now, we can't enter at all. He even had trouble setting up the backup to begin with, so much that he had to do it on his cellphone (Android), instead of his PC. Other members (Android, iOS and Xbox) had and have the same problems.
I know this sort of things take time, and this could just be a few-unlucky-realm things and we should be patient (more?), but it's almost been a week like this. :c

The chunks don't load graphically. And physically they only load a couple right? Not the whole world. After that it's like an invisible barrier.
Mobs are frozen or stuck in a loop. Like one panda is spinning around non stop.

Try to find the last working back-up and download it.

Nothing works still - Twitter support account saying it was fixed was a big joke. Haven't been able to use realms since the update. It's pretty ridiculous.

Right? If this isn't fixed soon. I want my money back. There is no point in paying for something we can't use.

Here is what I did for a temporary fix. I downloaded my most current backup and named it "crashed" and my last working back up and named it "working". I restored the working backup, which was from the night before the patch. We lose a lot of work but we can play and its only a few days we lost. I have the broken world stashed for when/if there is a fix. Otherwise we will just continue on and redo the work. The backup file is working fine and even saving like normal again.

I restored an earlier backup. (Before the Friday patch). It is still not working. Any progress on this? Surly this is affecting more people. I'm wondering if we have a timeframe on when this will be fixed? I'm thinking about trying to suspend my account until this is fixed. I don't like paying for things I can't use.
Yesterday's hotfix may have improved some of the problems described with chunks not loading, and we are continuing to investigate the ongoing issues - thank you for your patience.

After struggling for a few days we were finally able to revert to an older save file and things seem to be fine now. I will add if we experience these issues again. Usually the realm would freeze/crash within 2 minutes of joining and so far I was able to play for an hour this morning. The first time I signed off after doing a few things it didn't save - but after that progress has been saving. We've lost several days of work doing this which is upsetting but at least we can play now. Hopefully the issue is found and solved as to prevent this from happening in future updates.

My realm appears to be working now. A couple of days ago (after the overnight update around Wednesday) I started it up and the save was still completely unplayable. I reverted to a save from before the issues, and it's now been working since. Should be noted the save I reverted to would eventually go wrong before, so it looks like some of the recent updates fixed the trigger of my issue at least. Also, my save file is no longer huge when I download it, so for my issue, downloading some saves and seeing how big they get may be an indicator on whether you have problems with your save (before the saves would grow by around 100mb over a few hours, now it's fixed I've seen it grow by around 5mb over a couple of days).
The realm has crashed and reverted by a few minutes a few times since it started working, but I'll take that over it being completely unplayable at the moment.

Everyone playing on the realm downloaded the hotfix yesterday. Played a bit successfully, then when people started leaving/joining, all mobs on peaceful, except the bees, were frozen - cats, villagers, cows, sheep, rabbits. I could still play normally otherwise, break blocks, build, fish, etc., but nothing fixed the other issue, including logging out, quitting minecraft, restarting my xbox, restarting my internet, etc.

I’m unable to join my friends server or any realm for like 2months is there anything I can do on my own to fix it or can someone just reassure a fix to be happening on my Minecraft account.

I've had the same issue ever since 17.3 was released. my realms with addons just wont work and when i do get in it freezes after like a minute or so. then it disconnects me and when i join back im back to step 1. please fix this asap

Our realm started doing everything again today. Villagers frozen, blocks not breaking, items in chest disappearing or going back into our inventory. We keep losing our work. We restore to a backup where everything is fine play for a day or so and then it just starts back up until it gets to a point we can't log in and if we try to play offline it crashes the minecraft app on both xbox and windows 10. I guess the saves are becoming corrupted or something.

Still unable to play our Realm. It’s been since Sept. 26.

The realm I play on has been crashing pretty much daily snd only one of those times was there even a chance that something crazy was going on, but it still wasn’t bad enough that I would think it would normally have crashed. Someone wore frost walker boots near the zombie farm and it backed up from the water getting frozen and left so when I loaded the area, it loaded a ton of stuck zombies at once and it kicked everyone out as soon as I saw the ice. I was able to remove the ice and all the zombies no problem once it was back up. The other ones didn’t have anything going on before the disconnect that stood out at all

Same thing happened to me since their update.
I'm paying for that, now they broke my save and i can't play with my friends on my realm+

We reverted to a save file from the previous version and things were going fine. But now chunks aren't loading. We are being pushed back several minutes (nit saving progress) and it is becoming a Hassel to play. Especially because we have no idea if are efforts are just going to be undone the next time we log on.

Same here. Changes still don't save. Signs don't have text. Chat doesn't work. Mobs are stuck in a loop or frozen.

No game crash at any point.
Last night I noticed that I couldn't access my inventory ie nothing happened when I pressed 'Y' button.
Seemed like game had bugged
I "Save and Quit".
Try to load back in, realm won't load, repeated fails.
Quit Minecraft and re-open.
Realm opens but have lost 30 minutes of play (nothing more recent in Backups).
Today similar happened where I mined for an hour (long tunnel) in two separate sessions and essentially lost the last 30 minutes of both sessions. These times there was no inventory/ui issues prior to Save/Quit.
Have noticed that when in menus all seems fine, but when in my realm at pause menu I'm seeing "Oops! Your Microsoft Account was disconnected..." under my profile. This has never been the case before.
In-Realm when looking to invite players, I can see none of my friends, and only my own account is available to invite to realm.
Commenting here because other tickets that seemed relevant (save loss without crash) have been closed and referred to this ticket.
With the volume of loss of villagers/carts/pets (another issue reported), and this I feel the need to shut my realm down until I see an update to these issues.

its been days of all players getting booted and losing progress.

Opened my own similar ticket, and was directed here as a duplicate. Am watching with interest, as I don't want to pay for Realms if I have no confidence in my villager traders disappearing every few days.

Since the last server side hotfix was deployed, our Realm has become unstable. At some point, the server fails to register event data: blocks break but without making the appropriate sound or dropping anything. Water stops flowing. Mobs stop moving. Once one quits, one may be unable to rejoin; typically, trying to do so hangs at the "Loading resources" prompt. When login is again possible, the world has been rolled back at least to the point where event data stopped registering, sometimes further. This occurs on both Xbox and iOS Bedrock clients. It's as if the Realms server hits a point where it can no longer synchronize world state data with the client.

Now we can't join any world on our realm at all 🙃 please fix or refund us 🙃

my issue is similar but we are online and playing and we are kicked and the realm is rolled back

This has happened before. If everyone gets disconnected from the realm, wait at least 30 minutes or more before the realm reopens. It's only a temporary solution to this problem.

My Realm suddenly stopped working. This problem started on September 29, 2021. None of the members, not even me, the owner, could join the realm. I tried replacing the world with a backup, but it just wouldn't let me. After several attempts replacing the world with a backup, he allowed me, I tried to join the realm, and he also allowed me, but there was too much lag. After a few hours playing with some of the members, all the members were disconnected from the realm, and again, we were not allowed to join. After a few days I repeated the process, and the realm worked perfectly, if I remember correctly it was on the release day of update 1.17.32. It wasn't until two days later that he didn't allow us to enter the realm again. I tried to download the world and it didn't let me either, after several attempts I was successful, but it didn't let me enter the world either. Since the world had commands and a resource pack, I thought that had to do with it, so I reset the world of the realm (this put a whole new world in survival mode in the realm, and allowed us all to join together), but again , within a few hours the error was repeated, and when downloading it it did not let me enter the world either. I noticed that all the worlds I put in the realm increase their file size every so often, and apparently this is causing this problem, but I'm not sure. I followed the troubleshooting steps, without any success. Data to take into account: The realm had been working correctly for months, despite having commands and a resource pack, there was no lag and it allowed us all to join. The lag is: Delay in destroying blocks, delay when attacking mobs, delay when seeing messages in chat, delay when enchanting, etc. Chat was not working properly when I was able to replace the world with a backup. There were between 4 to 6 members in the realm after posting the security copy

I have been having the same issue since the last hotfix. It has degraded to the point I can't even get into the realm from any device. It simply loads for several minutes then I get the Disconnected from server message. I play everyday on my realm so I would like to be credited for the time lost on this realm that way I can get the weeks worth of game play back. It doesn't seem to be affecting everybody's realm but only some folks. For reference I play on Nintendo Switch. My friends with a switch are also unable to connect to the realm.

I have the same issue, when joining realm it sometimes say disconnected from server or it kicks us from the server within 5 minutes. Nothing loads, all mobs freeze, cannot break blocks, cannot open doors, cannot open inventory, etc

After rolling back to a backup that works multiple times we now are getting the dreaded disconnected from server. Is it possible that those of us with this issue are hosted on the same server? It seems like the problem is degenerative. Has anyone tried moving their world to another realm and see if it works on a different upload?

@duvall we didn't try moving our world but we had someone start a new realm with a brand new world and we still experienced issues. Not as severe. But we would get disconnected. And have progress not save. So the next time we were on we'd be a day or so behind

I guess this is where mojang is tracking the issue, so I thought I would add my comments here as well. I am also experiencing intermittent but chronic failures to connect to my realm, as well as periodic disconnects (with associated loss of progress). For me, this started right after downgrading from realms plus to realms. I never had a single disconnect or failure to connect while on realms plus, but the problem started within a day of opening the new (non-plus) realm. The time frame that I first started seeing this was 26 or 27 SEPT.

Last couple days have been the worst, I logged into my realm for the first time this morning and was instantly unable to open chests or hear sounds like gates or pressure plates, then I was kicked and it rolled back to me where I had logged in.

They just released 1.17.34 update and I was playing fine on a new world on Realm (occasionally getting reset an in game day but whatever) now I just keep getting a failed log in error. I can't even sign into my Microsoft account, I had someone else on our realm try after they updated and they can't either 🙃

it was doing this to me all week. Now it says i cannot play because i dont have gold. The other account on our xbox does so why is it now showing this new message today? My account has the game pass and realms subscription and i paid for the full game.

its been doing this in my realm aswell over the past 2 days and has been terrible. I am on PC if that helps and am on realms plus.
theres no problems connecting yet but after half an hour or so the game will stop, we can still move and the day night cycle still works but blocks dont update, water doesnt flow, no block break animation plays and we fail to get the block back after broken. we decide too leave and when we get back on progress has been reverted.

This issue appears to have happened twice today on my realm. The usual unresponsiveness of blocks, can't open chests or doors. Then disconnect and then it takes about 10 minutes before anyone can reconnect, and we find progress has been reverted anywhere between 5-15 minutes.

Having this issue after updating to 1.17.34 on Nintendo switch. Nothing interacts in bedrock on realms, single player works perfectly.

My bug report [REALMS-9311] that I lodged yesterday (9th Oct.) got linked with this one as a duplicate:
My friends and I are on a (2)3 player realm with our long-term (1 year, probably less than 1Gig) survival world. But some days it's basically impossible to play, and more frequently so the last week. Chests won't open, mobs/entities freeze, new chunks won't load.. and then the realm/server crashes entirely. You get the "Unable to connect" message for a few minutes if you try to log back into the realm after getting disconnected .. and then when you eventually are able to reconnect, it's rolled back the server somewhere between about 10 minutes to an hour, basically sending you back in time in-game. Of recent times, the game chat is also lagging so badly that it's basically unusable - messages can take 5 to 10 minutes for other players to see, then all coming through at once, and signs are regularly impossible to write.
I appreciate that it hasn't deleted thousands of hours of work entirely, but why are we paying $ every month for an unacceptable quality of service? I don't know whether it's a Microsoft issue with them skimping on server capacity, because I've noticed it seems more likely to do it during what would be peak US times.. (my friends and I are located in Australia)
Any replies/input would be appreciated. Maybe this is more of a complaint, but the problem needs to get fixed.. otherwise we'll just download the realm and cancel our monthly realm subscription. It's just not good enough, considering it's a paid service.

Our second realm has now become afflicted with whatever bug this is. We have been playing on it just fine for days. Suddenly lost audio on placing blocks. Villagers became frozen. Left the game. It did not make a backup and the last backup was 25 minutes back. I got a failed to login. I downloaded my world and it is playable offline. Both of us can play it offline. I am on windows 10 and he is on xbox. We now have two unplayable realms. this is becoming a huge problem for all of us.
However, you guys should know that refunds have to come from Microsoft, not mojang, and asking for one here will do you know good. Complaining to microsoft is the only way to get a refund and they typically refuse to give refunds for realms. Last time something like this happened they would only give me the amount of time it was unplayable off my next bill.

I have the same issue. I organized my storage system which took me 2 hours and the realm crashed with my 2 hours of work. 😞
Btw this has happened to me 20+ times. Also reducing the chunks to 16 on a pc or 14 chunks on a console helps.

Additionally, as of about the last week or so, we've noticed that when trying to join our realm it can commonly take several tries to connect. Yesterday it took me about 5 minutes of trying to get in, without any other players being online already.. it just kept timing out - which would mean the server/realm itself was having trouble booting? Maybe the data center hosting the servers needs to allocate more resources?.. I'm doubtful the issue is just Mojang/XBOX Studio coding bugs.
Maybe Microsoft needs to dig into their profits a slight amount to be able to provide an acceptable level of service for the biggest game in existence.. Why pay for realms at all if they're hardly functional?..

This has happened to us for the past three days on our realm. At least once a day. No warning. No specific thing any player is doing. The game just becomes unresponsive, disconnects you from the realm and then you are unable to connect for approximately 10 minutes. Once back in...you have usually lost about 20 to 30 minutes from the time the game showed signs of being unresponsive. Just like has happened with other previous updates.

This is happening on our realm since the 1.17.34 update. We also have the caves and cliffs toggle enabled. Can’t open chests or interact with anything. After a short time all mobs stop moving. Unplayable service.

I had the same issue just a few days ago on my Xbox I was on my realm and I open my ender chest and it stayed open then I couldn’t open the crafting menu and then there was no sound so I exit and tried to go back in it just stayed on the loading screen and then went back to the main screen saying trouble with realm try again and I don’t have the caves and cliffs toggle on

Yes. Same thing has been happening to me ever since the halloween update. Me and my friends have over 4 years worth of work in this world. I’ve tried everything, but even when I downloaded the world it wouldn’t load. It just sits there loading forever.

It happened again. I restored a previous backup and played for a few hours (redoing all the progress I had lost). This afternoon I got back in and chests were not working. My heart sank as I realized that all of the work I did yesterday is probably lost. As the owner of the realm I feel responsible for all the work lost by my friends and family that play with me. They are saying they don't want to play in it anymore because there progress will be lost. Please fix this.

This has been happening on my realm for any device running 1.17.34. Previous versions run fine but if you did the Halloween update then you can’t play the realm.

Realm has not worked properly since started last week. We lost about 30 minutes of work last time it froze and booted us. We were unable to log in for about 15 minute after. Once loaded in, we had reverted back about 30 minutes. It is completely unplayable.

I haven't been able to use realms since October 1st. Do we know if they're working on this? I haven't seen anything showing they are trying to fix this.

Still nothing from Mojang support even acknowledging the issue. This is totally unacceptable. Going on week #3 since we’ve been able to properly play our Realm.

Well, knock on wood, but I did not experience the problem yesterday. I joined my realm a few times yesterday throughout the day, and I was able to connect each time, and even better, did not get disconnected.
Frankly, I think that the problem started because they had realms on too "small" of virtual servers. A server straining for resources (memory, CPU cycles, or even network bandwidth) could by itself cause the symptoms that all of us have been seeing. Probably some bean counter saying they could make $.02 more per day if they put realms on slower servers. And just at a time when mojang is introducing some features that are a bit more resource intensive. Perhaps MS is slowly (quietly) migrating those servers back to what they were (at least), and hoping this problem just goes away...

I'm experiencing the same issues. I cannot access my Realms subscription saved world on any device I own, including the following:
Microsoft Windows 10 PC
Microsoft Xbox One
Samsung Galaxy Tab S6
. The game does one or more of the following:
Instantly crashes upon opening, gives error
Instantly crashes upon opening, does not give error
Does not allow for the world to be downloaded, fails/crashes
Allows for world to be downloaded, fails to open
Opens world, does not load more than 500 blocks surrounding
Does not save the game
Crashes if you get too close to the edge of the limit of what has loaded
Does not allow inventory to be opened
Does not allow chests or minecarts to be used
Consistent lag
Opens world and allows the game to load beyond 500 blocks

I have done one or more of the following to resolve the issue on my own:
Restarted my modem and router
Restarted my Microsoft Windows 10 PC, restarted Minecraft
Restarted Xbox One, closed/restarted Minecraft
Restarted Samsung Galaxy Tab S6, closed/restarted/uninstalled Minecraft
I have been unable to access or use this game since 10/10/2021. This is using the $7.99/month subscription for Realms Plus. The world is called Pompeii, which I find very ironic given this situation.

Our realm is having regular crashes with the aforementioned symptoms as well, i.e. players unable to interact with anything for a short time, mobs freezing, and then a sudden crash kicking all players from our realm.
It's made our realm nigh unplayable, save for those with a high tolerance for sudden rollbacks.

Mojang - Will someone please provide an update. Many of us have documented the very same or similar issues and have not been able to play in our realms for a week or more. We are paying for a service that is unusable. Please provide us with details on what is being done to correct this as well as an estimate of when the problems will be fixed.

Just had another server crash. ..was playing with two other friends, and suddenly everything is frozen, including them. We first noticed mobs weren't spawning where they usually should be, then we couldn't even bring up our player inventory. Realm disconnected all 3 of us a minute or two later. Rollback was minimal this time though, thankfully. It took about 10 minutes or so before we were able to join the server again.
Caves & Cliffs experimental toggle has not been touched. .. just running regular, vanilla, current release (1.17.34).

One thing I noticed is that marketplace purchased worlds don't run into this issue, at least not for me. Could it be possible its something with player made worlds?

We saw this too with one of our marketplace maps. We're the creators of Odyssey Builder 2: Revenant and have seen several live streams go by without issue. BUT when we try to host our own version of OB2 on a realm, not purchased from the marketplace but provided from our direct source/copy of the original map with a few addons added to it, the same lag, choppiness, rollbacks, and all started happening.
And what's more, when I download this from the realm and try to fix things locally thinking maybe its the addons I added or something, it does the same exact bs. I've no idea what's happening.
-I have experimental toggles enabled for this version so that we can use the new dialogue features, but we arent using caves and cliffs at all.
-We had ticking areas but cleared those days ago when the issues started and killed all entities since. Still to no avail
-Killed all villager and NPCs at spawn
-Removed all addons, even textures (we used them to add our own custom items and entities not found in the Odyssey Builder 2 map on the marketplace)
None of this fixes the issues even locally.
Still cant open chests without delays, cant hit mobs or place blocks without 10-15 second lag. And text chat (even say commands) will not show up for over a minute or more. Now maybe its experimental. Maybe not. But when we first enabled it, everything was fine and dandy day 1, even before loading the map on the realm. I had a day before that to test it all, no issues.
Also, file size doubles at worst when downloading a "corrupted" copy from realms, or if the copy i have locally decides to act up and I decide to save and quit, it bloats from 200mb to over 500mb and makes my entire computer choppy and laggy. Cant click icons like discord or Edge without a 5-10 second delay.
One more note
Odyssey Builder 2 map is running 1.17.11 (and has a locked template) in the manifest file
Latest MC version is 1.17.34 and we are using a non-template and non-marketplace version of the map on a realm (and locally)

This link at the 39 min mark shows exactly what is happening on current worlds. This was on a Marketplace world on a realm. After the streamer pulled a backup a few more minutes in and launched the game locally, the issues went away.
Mind you, he is playing on a template world, so I dont think 1.17.3 is the true culprit as the manifest file in Odyssey Builder 2 is set at 1.17.1. Maybe it's a realms thing that triggers the freeze and crashes?
However, my previous statements sorta contradict this too. This streamer has streamed this world 2 other weeks before, and both times for several hours each, all on the same realm. The only difference I saw from those 2 other times and this occurrence linked above is that:
he is now on 1.17.4 (i dont know if realms are updated to this as well yet at the time of writing this, but the world he is playing is locked to 1.17.1 for sure as its a marketplace world)
he now has a 3rd player in there with them, when the other 2 streams he had just himself and a friend (though his first stream had his child playing for a few minutes with them, but wasn't for very long)
So I wonder, is it entering chat mode or having chat/say commands speaking that triggers the issues? (he didnt notice the freezing until he started the command at 39 minutes in), or is it because there is a 3rd person that resources start to thin out too much and bleed, causing crashes and freezes?

This issue has only been happening to me on my android app, once I switch to my Microsoft computer (surface pro) my realm seems to work just fine and this issue doesn't occur. When on my phone (Samsung galaxy 10 - mobile app), the server only stays connected for anywhere from 2-10 minutes before booting me off, saying "disconnected from server." Upon logging back in, the work i managed to do in those 2-10 mins would be reversed.
This issue started only AFTER I installed update 1.17.40 that the "short period online before getting kicked off" thing started happening. I installed this update yesterday (oct 19th) around 7pm.
BEFORE the update, it would happen way more sporadically, would sometimes crash/disconnect after an hour or two of work and when logging back on it would all be reversed.
Now (after update 1.17.40), it will consistently kick me off after about 2-3 minutes. I tried again this morning (oct 20th ~7AM) and the issue is still occurring.
Since I used to get this error screen only when my internet would disconnect, I tried switching the internet I was using. I tried my mobile data, my regular internet, and my apartment building lobby's public internet. All three had the same crashing issue, all three after about 2 minutes of play time. Which leads me to believe it probably doesn't have anything to do with the internet.

Edit: I was reading some of the other comments and someone thought maybe the chat had something to do with the crashing, but we never use the chat feature in our realm so thats not what caused the crashing in our case. The chat box didn't have to be touched for the crashing to happen
Edit: tried again, as of 10/20/21 12:10 pm, issue on mobile still happening. Stayed in realm for 1 min 42 seconds and then "disconnected from server".

I hope this is helpful. I just tried to download my realm so I can play offline. Minecraft crashed at the end of the download. When I get back in, the newly downloaded world is almost 3 times larger (in mb) and will not open. Minecraft crashes upon attempt to open downloaded world. I can still enter the world in the realm, but it is not saving. I am running MCPE on Android.

For me the issue happens after renaming an item (or at least it seems so). About 30 mins after renaming an item the realm freezes up and rolls back to before I renamed the item, deleting lots of progress. this has happened twice so far.

For the last three weeks i have been unable to login to my realm. I am on Xbox One. I attempt to log in and after several minutes am told that "Failed attempting to rejoin realm. Please try again later".
I just now attempted to download a copy of my realm from Sept 28 21. It downloaded but when I tried to play it Minecraft crashed to the Xbox homepage. When I tried to reload Minecraft I was told the game needed to be reinstalled.
I rebooted my xbox and things appeared to be operating again.

I can confirm that this problem happens in worlds that didn't even go through version 1.17.30. It should be noted that in worlds with versions lower than 1.17.30 this problem happens, but it takes less time to become known. This error seems to be occurring due to an error with bedrock dedicated servers, because it looks a lot like an error that occurred a few months ago(REALMS-6812),in addition, some users are commenting in that same report that it is happening again. I hope this comment is useful to solve this problem as soon as possible.

I have been experiencing all of the above problems on my realm for weeks now. But something that I have noticed that I've not seen mentioned in other comments is that it doesn't seem to effect everyone. For example, Me and my son (US), and three other players (US, UK and SE) can still get into the realm and play mostly normally (with some minor issues like blank signs, delayed chat, etc).
However, if two of the other players (UK & AU) try to get in, they are unable to connect. Their name will show up in the player list (but it won't say they've joined in chat), and the game will freeze for the rest of us, as described by many others: chests won't open, mobs freeze, can't break blocks, and eventually all get kicked.
The realm functions mostly normally for five of us, but is completely inaccessible for two of our players, and just their trying to join the realm breaks it for everyone.

Dare I say they've patched it. My realm seems to be running, finally after this latest update. I'm curious if other players realms are functional now?
With the 1.17.41 Bedrock hotfix (MCPE-143156), we hope that this will have also addressed the issues mentioned here.

Sadly I don't think it's resolved. I managed to get on for the first time then after one of my friends logged in it logged me out. When I look at the back ups the size is fluctuating again which makes no sense (which is what happened before). I can attach a few versions of the backup worlds here if you could confirm which file I should be uploading please?
I was sooooo excited and now so sad. Is there going to be any compensation as I'm still paying for two realms which are unplayable.
It feels like it's something to do with users being on the realm from different devices maybe? I am on my mobile and someone else is on their playstation or switch...

I'm sorry, but the hotfix has changed absolutely none of these problems. I went into my realm, everything was fine. Asked one of my players who can't get in (see above comment I left) and as soon as he tried, chests stopped opening, mobs stopped moving, can't break blocks, etc .... and he couldn't get in.
If he or the other player try to join the realm, they are unable to and it freezes the entire realm for everyone.
Again, the realm works for me (owner) and four other players (US, UK, & SE) but if either of our other two players (UK & AU) try to join, they cannot get in and the realm stops working for everyone already in the realm.
All players have updated to the current 1.17.41 hotfix.

Nothing has changed on our two realms. They are exactly as they were. When we log in, when we finally get through, villagers are frozen, chests open but do not initialize, if we leave the area chunks do not load.

Realms still not fixed. We played yesterday, expecting to be normal, and froze, couldn't access inventory, or break blocks normally. Logged out and back in and our peaceful/neutral mobs had disappeared at an alarming rate. Logged in and horses, llamas, villagers, and cows are all missing in some quantity.

THIS IS NOT RESOLVED. Still being kicked and losing progress with no reason why.
EDIT: I didn't even get 15 minutes of gameplay in this morning before being disconnected.

NOT RESOLVED. Why would they mark it as resolved when as early as yesterday we have people having the SAME issues we have all been having for weeks now? It's not resolved, I still get disconnected intermittently depending on the internet I'm connected to.

For our xbox realm we completely deleted our realm from minecraft and we unsubscribed and deleted our realms account on the Microsoft subscription page. We discovered that we were being charged for three realms accounts when we only had one. I don't know if that was part of the issue or not. This seems to happen when you do anything in realms and you get a screen that says "someone tried to start a realm on this account would you like to finish?" we always select no, but for some weird reason it makes multiple realms anyway.
After we deleted everything we started a brand new realm and uploaded the last working map that we had played on before the 1.17.30 update. The file was from sept 28th and it was 1.17.11. All of our backups after September 28th were corrupted and either crashed minecraft completely or refused to let us on.
Starting fresh seems to have fixed the issue. We are both playing and have not had an issue for an hour.
On my windows 10 realm I only had to upload the version of my world that we had been playing offline and it is running fine on the realm. I played for about two hours and it seemed fixed.
Reopening based on the comments that this is still occurring.
For those affected, could you please confirm that you have updated to the latest Bedrock hotfix version, 1.17.41?
Also, if you download your Realm world save and play it locally, do you still experience the same issues, or is it purely when playing via the Realm?

We downloaded both our windows 10 world and xbox world they both updated through all the recent updates and for us they still worked when we played them locally. Once we reuploaded them they locked back up. For us it was just playing on a realm that was the issue.

I'm on 1.17.41.
Today, if I can load into the Realm, I cannot open inventory, or interact with anything. After a short time I will get the Disconnected From Server message. Loading back in, I will reappear in the same location as the first time I opened the Realm.
I have been able to download a copy of the world, and playing this locally works without issue. Trying to upload this copy to one of the Realms slots results in an Error message, after staying on the Initialising Upload screen for an age.

1.17.41 seems to have fixed the issues I was having. My realm is still laggy, but it is saving.

Realms still isn’t working. I can’t upload a new world. I’m playing on PS4. It says that the hard drive might be full which it’s not, I have 861 GB of space. The one world that I managed to upload about 2 updates ago is now playable but not the world I want to play in. I was just testing to see if I could upload any of my worlds at that time.
To @unknown: The issue with uploading is tracked as REALMS-8022.

This problem is still occurring, and it is the same in BDS.

Some of the issues here with mobs freezing could be due to MCPE-147391.
Resolving temporarily as Awaiting Response. Can you still reproduce the issue where progress on realms is not saved after everyone leaves in 1.17.41? This ticket will reopen automatically when you reply.

can confirm still happening in 1.17.41 it's not every time everyone logs out from the realm it is a random in game freeze/crash (the games stops responding you can move but unloaded chunks will not render and you can not interact with anything, chests, your inventory, mobs or anything else) the only fix is to wait around 5 minutes at which time everyone will be kicked from the realm, OR if everyone online logs out after a few minutes the server will allow everyone to reconnect. when you reconnect you will be rolled back to the last time the game auto saved a backup (anywhere from a few minutes 30 minutes) last confirmed time for me was 8:40pm MST on Nov 14, 2021 (haven't played much since then) reported it to the link listed above

Is this still an issue for anyone after updating to the 1.18.1 Hotfix?

I gave up and cancelled my subscription but I hope it worked for others.

This has occurred on the latest hotfix (1.18.2) for me. Not sure if this will help but 2/3 times this has happened one person has tried to go into the end portal. Then the freeze, disconnect and rollback occurred.

Still an issue after hotfix. I am a owner of a realm as well and experiencing the same thing.
Hello I am having issues today with my realm. My game will not save on on realm as well as removing players from game. Please fix we have Is lost a lot of progress multiple times times and my members are starting to get frustrated.

This has started happening with my world as of 1.18.30 when I enter certain parts of my world.

Forgot i was watching this issue. We found out that there was a hacker on our realm who was causing the crashes.

My realm has started to do this as well ever since the 1.18.30 update please fix this issue

I've observed that it started to happen the second I tried to activate RTX with ";". Do you guys use RTX when it happens or any other packs?

After I turned on RTX I turned it off again and now it happens even when not using RTX. But this can only be a coincidence.

Just looked into it and tried it on a server but the second I turned RTX on it happened again. This is not just a realm thing

Happens for me when trying to load specific junk.
Noticed first that server crashed (Realm) when specific player tried to log in. Another player went to check -> crashes now as well.
I downloaded the world and check in creative. Chunks around location fail to load and game crashes on save (local).

Update: 1.18.31 fixes the issue for me (at least by first impression 🙂 )

Was working fine before updating to 1.18.30
Gameplay freezes after a minute upon joining realm, and I eventually get kicked out and lose progress. Also face the same problems as others.

Issue started again with the newest 1.18.30 updated.
Possible pattern is XBOX or console players, no issues for hours until xbox player logs in and plays for a few minutes, could be unrelated but this is making the game UNPLAYABLE for our entire realm.

Exact same issue started right after the update, it kicks everyone on the realm out when someone walks into a certain part of the map and resets progress, here i got a clip of it happening.

Issue as of 1.19.2 hotfix.
We had 3 people total in our realm ( all of which AFK upon the crash, one console ) and I went afk for five minutes and the server disconnected and rolled back 30 minutes. The two other accounts were at a ghast farm ( one overworld, one nether ), and I was in the swamp with a haste II beacon clearing out a chunk for a slime farm. This issue was on 1.19.1 and still persists on the latest version. ( 1.19.2 ) One thing to note is due to other players reporting villagers as a possible culprit, wandering traders have this same random appearance as seen with this bug making them something of notice. It could also be an issue with the ghasts or the leads wandering traders use. ( or llamas? ). It cannot be chunk loading or an issue that involves player input as again, this issue occurred when everyone was AFK.
