Interesting. I only tested it on ominous vaults and it worked for me, so I assumed normal vaults shouldn't be any different.

Wow, you are correct, and it also only works for sussy blocks that came with the structures too. Oops!

A simple way to reproduce this bug is to repeatedly generating a bunch of single biome dark oak forest worlds, since most of the terrain in that biome is covered by leaves.

Confirmed in 1.20 release candidate 1, shouldn't the title be changed to "the end generates in ring patterns" instead of "the end does not generate in ring patterns" because the bug is that it stops and starts generating, forming a ring?

Follow up: I've used yellow wool blocks instead of the carpet in my tests, and I've since reproduced this bug with carpets. It only happens when sprint jumping as described. Did you use carpets in your testing too?

Cannot reproduce in 1.20 pre release 5. I've tried to align my camera at a perfect 90 degrees angle with a tp command but still cannot reproduce.

Hasn't this always been the case before 1.19.4? I think its good to mark that version as affected as well for archival purposes.

After some testing, I don't think i can reproduce this same bug without sprinting.

Although it kind of seems that if I do sprint, the sprint seems to not be added mid air if I start on the far side of the block. Though I could be wrong.

This bug actually affects every block type. For example, with this same method it is possible to jump off of a magma block without taking damage. As well, this will cause the step sound to not play when using this method to jump off of every block.
