This stinks, a lot of add-ons where broken with this update

I have done some testing and it seems that use animations do not work in first person. I was able to get a custom item animated in the 3rd person views. but in first person the item does not move. It appears to cast a shadow as if it was moving tho.

I believe this is most working as intended. A single Item reduces the REMAINING, not TOTAL, grow time by a percentage. I haven't actually counted but it usually takes me almost a full stack, if not more. to get a mob to grow up.

I'm also experiencing the same issue after the 1.18 update. Everything appeared normal in the 1.17.41 update however issues started appearing in 1.18. I'm using the Kelly's RTX Conversion resource pack. I will attach some screenshots later on this issue.

Specs:

AMD Ryzen 5 5600x

NVIDIA RTX 3070

16GB RAM

Also encountering this problem and hoping it will be fixed soon!

I'm running MacOS Monterey on an M1 Macbook Air. I tried to download the Minecraft Launcher for the first time yesterday and ran into this issue.

Because I haven't run Minecraft on this computer before, the known workarounds don't work for me.

Just wanted to chime in to let people know that another user is affected by this bug (responding to @glyph's accurate observation that surprisingly few people are talking about this).

I can confirm with my RTX 3070 GPU. When I am playing the game with ray tracing (24 chunks with DLSS) I am getting around 40-50 fps on average and the CPU usage (Ryzen 5 5600x) sits at around 10%-20% or so while the GPU is only at 57%. Since the CPU is only at around 15% or so utilization, it is not a CPU bottleneck.

Just checked in 1.16.220, the bug still seems to occur.

It appears to be fixed in 1.16.210.

I'm also hitting this issue. I'm on a Samsung Odyssey HMD, freshly installed Minecraft (non-beta) from the Windows Store, latest nVidia drivers, and Windows Update fully up to date.

Note that I'm NOT using oculus. This is happening with a WMR device, launching Minecraft from the pins panel in the cliffhouse.

It has been fixed as of the current update.

Are you in a laggy area such as an area filled with redstone contraptions or entities?

Confirmed that it affects 1.16.201.

Steps to reproduce

1. Go to the options.txt folder and change the gfx_viewdistance option to higher than your maximum render distance for your device.

2. Launch Minecraft again.

3. See that the render distance has not been changed to the custom render distance and it is back to your maximum render distance for your device.

4. When you open the options.txt file again, the gfx_viewdistance option is overwritten by the game and changed back to your maximum render distance.

The lag appears to be worse after the 1.16.201 hotfix especially in worlds with lots of lag such as redstone contraptions.

This occurs in 1.16.201 now. This issue should be reopened.
