Stuck on "Building Terrain" Screen when Attempting to Join Realm

Workaround

The workarounds listed on MCPE-90372 may help with this issue.

I am trying to join the realm I created and get stuck on "Building Terrain".  My
brother can join and has no issues.  I can join in any other realm, but this one.

When my brother is logged in and I try to log in, my brother gets an on screen notification that I left the realm, but never joined the realm.

Ran a virus check and I'm clear.

I also restarted my computer.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the game.

Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks in advance!

I also tried to login via my Nintendo Switch and was told that I cannot connect to any realms.

If you have a copy of the world available, you might like to upload a copy of it for investigation.

  • On Windows 10 you can use the Export world feature.

  • On Android or iOS you need to use a file explorer to navigate to Device storage > games > com.mojang > minecraftWorlds

  • On Xbox or Switch the only way is to upload it to a Realm, and then download the world on Windows 10 or Android/iOS.

If the world is larger than 10MB you can upload the world to OneDrive or a similar file sharing site, and then share the link.

I was able to Temporarily Resolve the problem on WIN10 BE by looking at the Minecraft application settings and resetting the Application.

Notably, the bug occurred after a network connection issue, in addition, an RTX Enabled Texture pack was installed and working for one session of the game before the bug occurred. While Problem-solving, I was unable to connect to the same realm on an Xbox either.

I hope this helps in some way.

Addendum

Imported Texture Packs appear to Cause the bug, or at the very least, Agitate its likelihood of occurring. Even after the packs are disabled, the bug persists until the Application is Reset

I am currently utilizing Kelly's Vanilla RTX Texture pack

It may be the server system Identifying the pack(s) as Malware and denying the User Account until corrected

Alternatively, RTX Systems may be causing the affected account to communicate with the server.

Lastly, It is possible that the pack itself is causing the problem, This, however, does not account for malfunctioning of other platforms, Therefor the User's account may be the bugged software

I am not considered a Professional on the matter of servers or games yet, so the provided information may be hogwash.

I encountered this issue today on xbox one. Split screen player 2 was building terrain. I found their character in game but you couldn't hit them and you walked through them. I switched to creative mode and grabbed some potions of poison and harming. Swapped back to survival and hit their character ghost with both. It killed them and they respawnes jn their house without the issue. Hope this helps anyone else struggling!

This is also happening to me on the most current update, it only began happening after the most recent update. If I leave it alone it will eventually load in for me but it takes anywhere between 3-5 minutes to get in. This is on a friends realm but on my own I can load in just fine.

They said the world file is around 800MB and I heard that big worlds can begin to mess up. Any truth to this?

Addition to this bug:

It happens in a realm when you’re exploring and you reach in area in the realm, I don’t know why but I have this one area that I entered and I froze in place and nothing worked. So, I closed Minecraft and opened it again to realize I couldn’t join realms. So, I reverted to a backup from before I entered that area and it works. However, I went back to that same area and it happened again. So, for now I’m avoiding the area. But I think it maybe could be world corruption or something of the sort due to my world on the realm having a 500mb world size.

I can't log in during my play on my friend's realm server on the Switch.

The performance became heavy from the moment I entered "the End", and when I tried to restart, I couldn't log in.

I tried restarting the software, reinstalling the software, using a wired LAN connection, and deleting the realm registration and receiving an invitation again, but it remained frozen on the first "Generating world" screen without moving.

I was able to log in by purchasing the PC version of Minecraft and connecting from the PC side.

After that, I was able to log in from the Switch again.

The cause of the login issue was probably the map I had in my off-hand when I ended the game.

Even after logging in again, displaying the map made the performance extremely heavy."

Unless you personally have this issue (and since you commented on MCPE-170534), it would be best if you would use the Mojira Discord to add affects-versions to reports. Otherwise, these comments just add clutter and make it harder to find more useful information. In addition, Arisa (bot) will automatically add affected version when linking duplicates.
