I was trying to fight the ender dragon, as most players try to do, when I was instead thrown in the end city realm instead of the normal End. At first I was happy I was gonna defeat it, but i was somewhere far away from the dragon and instead spawned in an end city biome. There were no exit portals because I have not defeated the ender dragon. I had to give up my achievements and /kill myself in order for me to respawn and try to test my theory. I am sad I had to give up my achievements because of a dumb bug. Mojang please resolve this horrible issue because im the only player that has been teleported to the end city instead of the end. And yes I did do research on how this bug occured and there was no information.

Some tips for next time:
/kill is equal to the following survival operations:
Jumping into the void,
Looking at an enderman
Starving to death by jumping up and down and running around
Finding a shulker and having them shoot you
Also the following bits may be helpful:
end portals and the end fountain is different
The end portal structures generate regardless of the state of the end dragon.
you can pillar back to the end island
you can fly back from the end city.

I had a Win10 player encounter this issue on a Realm around the time a backup occurred, and I also encountered MCPE-115933 around the time another backup occurred, so I suspect there is some relation to world saving desync of some sort - you might need the world to autosave around the time you use a portal for the bug to occur.

I have experienced it as well in my 1.16.210.06 world on custom server (linux). World is over 7 months old.
I have created end portal in creative mode and once I jumped into it the coords in The End matched exactly the ones from the Overworld.
Second time I tried the usual end portal, the one we've discovered playing Survival on the same world, and it worked fine. So again as with the Nether portals, the bug happens randomly.

Can I make a suggestion? Take an ender chest with you. That way you can put all your armour and weapons in the chest and jump off into the void. When you rerspwan in the overworld, just open your ender chest and all your stuff will be saved. You'll only lose whatever levels you had.

Just happened to me, end portal spawned me in the void rather than the main island

Based on MCPE-123204 and having tested it, at least one way this can be reproduced is when the player is flying into the portal using an elytra. This should be done as horizontally as possible so that the player does not exit flying mode.

Based on MCPE-121081, an obsidian platform is generated at the incorrect coordinates where the player spawns. This is similar behaviour to MCPE-115933.
I do suspect this occurs when an autosave/backup occurs, so to reduce incidence, turn on the Show Autosave Icon option and wait for Autosave to finish before entering any type of portal.

If this is ocurring as follows - you end up at the same overworld coordinates, try throwing an item in first to make sure that you end up at the correct co-ordinates. It works for nether portals as they are experiencing that behaviour

Does this issue only occur in a multiplayer setting (eg Realm or BDS server)?

Can occur both on singleplayer and Realms/BDS.
This is one way to reproduce (there are other ways):
Steps to reproduce
/fill ~~5~ ~30~5~5 end_portal
Equip an Elytra
Fly in Elytra mode towards the portal as while aiming as horizontally as possible (to prevent exiting elytra mode)
Notes
An obsidian platform is generated where the player spawns, but is invisible until the area is reloaded/right-clicked on.
Practically impossible to reproduce on a newly created Flat world, but reproducible reliably (using the above steps) on a newly created Infinite world.
Appears to also occur during an autosave/automatic backup of the world.
Sometimes, the player starts to "see" the destination dimension (all the existing chunks disappear, fog colour changes, coordinates update correctly) when entering a portal before the loading screen/building terrain screen occurs (whether this issue occurs independently, or a client-side visual issue, is another thing), but after the player loads in, the coordinates are incorrect.
This information is also applicable for MCPE-115933.
Workarounds
Some possible workarounds (may not always work) include:
Throwing an item into the portal before entering it (per noob1884); this does not seem to prevent occurence using the elytra method
Turn on Show Autosave Icon and only enter portals in the period immediately after an autosave. For Realms, you can check when an automatic backup is done which is usually every 30 minutes when the Realm is "active"
Creating "safe areas" where you are expected to spawn incorrectly - perhaps a platform with water and a secure takeoff pad. You can also create a bridge to the nearest end gateway or supplies for players who do not have an elytra

Can occur both on singleplayer and Realms/BDS.

This is essentially the same bug that happens to nether portals MCPE-115933. its MUCH more deadly with end portals, since most of the end is void. As you can see in this attached video from Ldardare, if you happen to get unlucky you spawn just a couple blocks above the void (depending on the y height of your end portal).

Just happened to me. I hopped into the End Portal in overworld, and got teleported to -1200 ? 650(around that) and I was above the void(no block under me and I was at nearly Y 20). Luckily I managed to start flying soon enough with my Elytra and saved myself. I don’t have a video of it, but i screenshoted where I teleported(I’m looking at the location I teleported).

I recently finished a project to mine every end stone block of the center end island and encountered this bug many times during the project because I was going into and out of the end a lot. When it happened I always just quit the game and restored my world from a backup because the hour of time lost in that play session is less than the many hours it would take me to replace all the gear I was carrying with me. I was not usually wearing elytra when the issue happened, just running and jumping into the portal.
I also eventually implemented a protocol for entering the end that I would recommend for players who encounter this issue a lot and have already defeated the dragon. Put an ender chest by the portal in the stronghold and another one in the end by the obsidian platform. Put a bed by the portal in the stronghold. Before entering the end always put everything you have in the ender chest and set your spawn point on the bed. Hop in and if you spawn over the void you only lose your experience and will respawn back at the bed and you can keep trying until it puts you at the normal spawn point. Then grab everything out of your ender chest in the end.

I must be lucky because I already got the elytra and stacks of fireworks, stacks of food, and stackss of blocks when this happened to me

In my case, when I spawned, if I can say “spawned” I was in a place with no coordinates, which is strange because I play with coordinates on screen. I did not see the obsidian platform, the main island... nothing at all. In fact I thought it was still loading/spawning. It’s tough to accept I lost all my good stuff because of a bug.
I had no idea I was falling until my life started going down. Too late to try to save myself with my elytra and rockets.

This happens in the nether too, and it takes your overworld coordinates and either doesn't divide by 8 or x8 (nether) or doesn't set to 0 0 (end). Also sometimes there is a nether portal in the nether version of this and sometimes there isn't. People have reported both individually but I am not sure why bot together, I might be unlucky and get both

Is this bug fixed in the current 1.17.10 or has it not been officially released yet? This bug has happened to someone on my realm a day ago. They play on xbox.

Irritated Gamer: This was fixed in 1.17.10, which relased a month ago. If you can reproduce it happening please create a new report.

@GoldenHelmet Oh. Rereading the name I think I misread it. What happened to a realm member was that they went through the endgate and fell to the void instead of on some land. They use an Xbox. I think I found a ticket that better describes what I think happened but, it was marked resolved 3 days ago. So I guess what I'll do is, make a new ticket Only if it happens again. That might be the only thing I can do since it only happened to them and hasn't happened since. It's this one: MCPE-117709
