Chat messages don't show to some or all other users

Aaron Fletching, I myself am dealing with the exact same problem. I wish Mojang could fix it, because, it is clearly a Minecraft problem. Well, I am not exactly sure that it isn't a Microsoft problem, either. This bug becomes annoying whilst I am trying to communicate with my friends. I play Mineplex as well, and I too have discovered that using teamchat still works. I have also used signs in regular worlds when I really need to chat. It would be great if this bug could be fixed!

Thanks for notifying me! Phew, I'm glad I'm not the only one with this problem. Well, I mean, I'm sorry you're suffering too, but at least it's not just me. Hopefully, this bug will be fixed soon!

Yeah, sure XD. When I saw someone else with the same problem, I was quite relieved as well. All we can do is hope that Minecraft fixes it. In the meantime, I'll just be playing without my chat, no biggie.. 😛

Hey, you guys have the same problem?! Wow, okay, it really isn't just me. Yes, I soooo wish they would fix the chat glitch! Like, um, I need to talk to my friends.. What if there's a creeper right behind them and they get killed because I didn't warn them! Well, okay, over exaggerating XD.  Please fix this chat issue! It gets VERY frustrating and annoying!

Oh, wow, the comments are just coming.... XD. Well, at least there's more than just two of us who have this glitch. I sympathize you, Leck, and you, Aaron, and myself... But we WILL get through this! Minecraft can't just leave us hanging. I assure you all, they will find a way to fix this nightmare...

Okay, well, a little bit of a relief here. Sorry you're suffering what Storm and I are... but, yes, Storm, I am sure that Minecraft will due its best to fix it. And of course, I can live without my Minecraft chat... for a bit, anyway. I'd really like to chat, though, so keep those updates coming! (Oh, just don't add updates that create new bugs...)

I am suffering of the same symptoms. My chat cannot stay broken any longer. It highly agitates me... I hope Mojang will fix it. Aaron, Storm, Leck, I pity you and I pity myself. We should not be dealt a weakening blow, when we have done nothing to be weakened for. Mojang will have no other choice, but to fix this glitch, because they'll start loosing patrons if more and more people get the bug. With all my hopes - Flame

I am also having this problem, except only certain people can see my chat, I hope this gets fixed.😉

This has already been reported to Xbox Live. There have been no chat service alerts issued yet, but they are probably trying to fix this server-based issue on their end.

On Xbox, mute certain person will not display message in game chat. Check your friend's profile if it has been muted.

How is this still an issue if this problem was occuring last year. I don't really value a reason why it's not fixed tho. I just need my accounts back please: ninjaa uwu, ninjaa muted and karma3477 all got this glitch in three days Microsoft confirmed it was a mojang issue. Pleaaaaaase fix my chat or give a timeframe of when it will be fixed

After all we all spend money to buy the game, chat included it would suck if we dont get what we payed for I've spent over 100 dollars on these accounts in the servers. Could a mod or something atleast give a timeframe for my accounts specifically to be fixed?

Hello?  Anyone there?  This ticket is very old and still we are experiencing this problem.

In my case, I own the realm and cannot send any chat messages.  Nobody receives anything, even if I use /msg or /tell.  However, another user was able to send me a message using the /tell command.  What gives?

I created an account just for this I hate it and nothing seems to be working. I spent money on this game and chat is crucial to games like skyblock and survival games. I NEED MY CHAT.

Yeah my chats don't work at all now, and I tried to get help and now they said it's resolved by coming here, but by the looks of it they aren't going to help us...

My Xbox Account's Enforcement History is empty. My reputation is "Good Player" according to Xbox Enforcement. In Privacy and Online Safety settings, my Communication Settings are set as "Everyone" (My account is not a kid account). I used live chat of Xbox Support two times, and their methods didn't work.

Also I contacted to Mojang, and they aren't responding to me since 5 months.

Unfortunately I can't chat with players in servers and realms since long time 🙁.

OMG I am so happy my friend told me what to do, it sounds a little dumb but it actually worked. Just type out the alphabet send each letter at a time and by the end of it you should have chat working!!!

Guys, did anyone solve this problem with chat?

Hello everyone. I SOLVED THE CHAT PROBLEM! In order for other players to see your messages, you need to write in chat alphabet from A to Z, (1 letter at a time). IT HELPED ME. Good luck to all 🙂

I've tried writing the alphabet more than once Its not helping me I can't talk on most servers.

For people who are experiencing this issue,

1. Make sure your Communication Settings are set as ''Everyone'' in your Xbox Account's Privacy and Online Safety Settings (if your account is not kid account).

2. Visit Xbox Enforcement Website, and check your reputation, maybe you get negative feedbacks from other players. For more details, visit here.

3. Maybe you get Suspended, check your xbox account's Enforcement History. For more details, visit here.

4. Contact to Xbox.

My problem is my Enforcement History is empty, I'm not Suspended at all, and my Communication Settings are set as ''Everyone'', I contacted to Xbox 2 times, but nothing changes.

Not true. It happens to me and my friends on realms as well

This bug happens sometimes when my friend enters my world, and also when I enter his. He and I think this bug has something to do with Xbox Live.

@unknown Please don't swear in the bug tracker, this is supposed to be suitable for all ages.

I would say this is still a valid bug based on previous comments, and that many people have already tried the earlier suggestions without success.

However to add on to the possible causes, it is possible that either person does not have Communication Settings set as ''Everyone'' in your Xbox account settings. Both players must have it set to Everyone, else neither person will receive each other's messages. There may other settings regarding chat settings/Realm interactions. If this fixes it then you are likely not experiencing this bug.

Note that if you have a child account, attempting to visit the Xbox account settings will send you to the Home > Family & online safety section and you cannot change it using this account. An "adult" account must change it (for details Google).

Again you and your friend may have already done this/it doesn't work, but if you have not done so please check these steps (and earlier suggestions) before voting for and watching this report.

Also try to reduce "please fix" comments, only comment if you have useful information that could help solve the problem.

@unknown: I'm sorry you're having trouble playing the game the way you want to. However, you need to know that the kind of comment you've been leaving isn't appropriate for the bug tracker. I'm not talking about swearing (although that's certainly inappropriate, too), I'm talking about urging us to hurry up and fix this issue.

What you don't seem to understand is that the Bedrock (MCPE) bug tracker is not staffed by the developers or other Mojang people. Our staff consists of community volunteers who are tasked with eliminating duplicate and invalid reports, confirming valid reports, gathering more information when we can, and forwarding the updated reports to Microsoft Studios. After that, we don't have any more involvement in the process of fixing the bug, so we can't give you any information about whether it's being worked on, what's holding it up, etc. Since there's nothing we can tell you that's relevant to your complaints, we basically just ignore complaints most of the time (because more often than not, people just need to vent).

The Community Management team has the information you're looking for. You might be able to contact them on the Minecraft Discord or via Twitter.

I have experienced this when on LAN with my sister. I hear her narrator (because she turned it on) saying a message but I don't see it in chat.

Oh thank god, I thought I was the only one. I’m going crazy having to switch between the game and discord every time I wanted to say something,😅 rooting for y’all to find a fix on this bug!!

This could be because you have friended a player, but they haven't friended you back. Check to make sure that both players have friended each other.

I am unable to see messages from those who are not in my friends list. I have checked the settings and everything seems to be ok on my end so there is no reason why I shouldn't be able to see everyone's messages. This becomes a REAL BIG PROBLEM when doing important things such as nether world traveling and working on builds. I'm on the Nintendo switch by the way and this has been going on for some time.

I have the same problem and almost everyone has this problem, your chat is not displayed properly for some players or the player chat is not displayed properly for you, this problem exists in both Realms and servers, really It's frustrating because you suddenly see your friend talking to no one while you can not see another player's message,

The Same here, with a own Windows-Java-Server and only with Multiplayer.

Playing alone is the Caht working, but NEVER on Mulitplayer. Please fix it.

I taped hi, and my friend playing with me EggWars in CUBECRAFT, didnt recieved it.

This happens to me every time i join a server for example: lifeboat, mineville and cubecraft...
This happens in more than one platform (i tested on my xbox one and phone) and i had this issue on both devices...

Please patch this bug I love chatting with other 🙂

The issue was solved for me by changing settings in the Xbox profile settings page. I've never played on public servers so I don't know why it would affect people playing on public servers.

Just started experiencing this, multiple members in our bedrock realm cannot see eachothers messages/messages are lagged and come in a massive wave all at once.

I might add that chat does work however it sends the messages in bulk after a long amount of time, if everyone is chatting none can see other messages until they all come through and chat starts working again.

Experiencing similar issues with 1.17.30 on Realms.

• Yesterday:

  • User A on Xbox with Visitor privileges was not able to see chat messages from User B (using an iPad with Operator privileges).

  • On the flip side, User B was able to see User A's messages.

  • The Realm's owner (User C on Windows 10) was able to exchange messages from both A and B, i.e., expected behavior.

• Today:

  • Neither User B nor User C could see each other's messages at one point, i.e., different behavior than yesterday.

  • Several minutes later, each user could see the other's messages. Following that, they could exchange messages without delay.

  • User A was not able to participate in testing.

It may be unrelated, but users are also experiencing issues with sign text disappearing, as reported in MCPE-142788.

this is still happening in 1.17.32 Hotfix please get this fixed its anoying

I noticed that using the /say command works sometimes.

I am seeing that this is the same bug listed on issue REALMS-9150 here on the bug tracker.

Seems to be related to Xbox.
When I had this issue with a friend, it was due to them having me blocked on Xbox Live.
It was resolved immediately after they unblocked me.
