Certain content in the Marketplace shows an "Update" button instead of a "Create this World" button, and pressing the button doesn't work

I have the same issue with my android tablet and Amazon fire tablet. On Samsung nothing happens after pressing update and then download and then nothing happens. Just spent £17 on a world for my son who now can't play it. On Amazon tablet it starts to update but then it gets stuck and the whole screen starts flashing. I really hope this will be fixed soon. 

I cannot download the master chief mashup pack, It says there is a 0kb download then nothing happens

Same issue on xbox,,, i play on series x all my texture packs and mash ups say they need to be downloaded,,, says will download to device and percentage bar runs but on importing,,,, stage 2 of 2 just freezers and you have to close game,,,

I suffer this too!

I am having the same issue I believe.
Purchased the Star Wars Mash Up Pack $8
Downloaded it, then an Update button appeared. 
Pressing the Update button brings up a POP UP that reads:
This will download the Star Wars to your device.
Then you press Download or Go Back
Pressing Download makes the POP UP disappear and nothing happens.

IOS - Ipad 5
Minecraft is updated
Ipad has been rebooted.

I have the issue! I spent a couple of dollars already for nothing!

Any suggestions? My 6 year old successfully completed a bunch of school work and wanted a mod as a reward and now she has been waiting 3 weeks to download after the purchase on the xbox.

Noticed that downloads started working this AM. I can't tell what if anything changed.

We purchased City Life during their marketplace sale yesterday and it’s stuck at “update.” We haven’t even been able to play the new world and have no way to get a refund since we play it on Nintendo Switch. Then they marked my issue as “resolved,” with no actual resolution! 

I'm an original Xbox 1 player and can't download my previously purchased skin, text, and mashup packs and can't download the new tycoon 4 the 5th year of marketplace. it doesn't do anything after i click download the 2nd time but ik the world can load 4 me bc a friend invited me 2 it and everything worked as intended. I uninstalled the game and re-installed it but nothing happened. I also removed my mods from the game 2 see if that would fix it but still nothing and 4 those on Xbox of any kind uk how tedious the process is 2 get them in the first place.

Wow this has been an issue since April? We paid for this stuff!

So my old marketplace items finally updated and I foolishly went to buy the kids new ones thinking this has been fixed, well surprise surprise, the new ones don't work! Stuck on update. Is this just the new reality now then? Because I won't spend any more money on marketplace. I've no idea how to get my money back either. I can't believe they're not fixing this or at least updating us that they're working on this, we have paid for these items that we now can't use. 

This has to be fixed! I’m not able to sue any updating texture are worlds that I own because they have to update!!

I experience the same issue with the package "Escape Room: Illager's Mansion"

Bedrock on PC 1.19.0 and Nintendo Switch 1.19.1 wont work. Updating the package is not possible. The window simply closes. But creating the world until updating is not possible. So no way to play the recently bought packages.

It's amazing this is not getting addressed...

 I tried to update my Music data pack (I'm Android user) and it didn't updated. It Sayed updating... but when I entered the game, it didn't!

I bought the dragon pack about a month, and none of it since I bought it has downloaded, I have tried everything I can think of. I don't understand why this isn't being resolved considering the amount of people I see with the issue. I wanted to get realms plus for my daughter to use with her friends and sister, but I am afraid she won't be able to enjoy the packs if I am unable to use the stuff I bought for my own game. 

Please will someone work on this! Or refund start refunding money! its robbery to continue to take money from people while there are people who can't use what they buy.

Same here using Minecraft 1.19.10 on Windows 11 PC. Dinosour World asking for an update that never happen.

Hello, I can't download the music pack, it remains stuck importing content. 

We have this exact issue with the Prestonplayz craftable houses pack which we actually bought last year but my son had never told me that it hadn’t downloaded.  We fixed the first issue which was space related, only to find this issue. If players can’t download within a certain time period, there should be a refund. 

We have the exact same issue and it seems that there is no way to get a refund. From Microsoft Store it looks like you can get refunds for your orders where you bought Minecoins, but not for the purchases that you used your minecoins on. 

I also have this also I can't fix it or do anything I've deleted things from my PC restarted, and nothing!

I also have this issue as the mod previously purchased is no longer available and has blocked any other downloads

Does not resolve with a reinstall either. still get the downloading overlay that never progresses.

#MCPE-158878 describes my problem. I click download on the content. It seems to do all the right things to download. It then has a button that says "Update" instead of "Create World". Okay, I'm game, I click "Update". It again says that it's downloading. And then I get the "Update" button again.  This is for FTB's Stoneblock 2. My system is Windows 11. I have uninstalled and reinstalled. I have cleared the Marketplace Cache numerous times. I have removed the content numerous times and tried re-downloading.  What's even more great fun is I have the exact same problem on my Kindle. Of course, reinstalling means I lost ALL of my worlds. I have backups (exports) of some but I recently encountered the Export bug so not all. If I can't create backups and now can't even get at the content that I buy, there isn't much point to Minecraft Bedrock for me at all.

This is the same for me on bug MCPE 164318. Given this looks like it was created half a year ago it would be good to see when this is being fixed. I also have the same issue with the Furnature+ app by 4ks studios. Given this seems to be a recurring issue can you just arrange a refund for these two mods instead?

I am also having this problem. Platform is Xbox Series X.

My daughter has two downloads from the Marketplace that always say "Update" and we can't ever actually update it.

• We have tried deleting the items from our storage.

• We have tried clearing the cache.

• We have tried clearing the marketplace cache.

• We have tried uninstalling Minecraft and re-installing Minecraft on the Xbox.

In all cases, these two items will do the initial download and then once downloaded they will have a button that says "Update" but then clicking Update will not do anything.

The two items in question are:

• PrestonPlayz Craftable Houses by Meatball Inc

• Monster School by Team Visionary

Deleting and re-downloading didn't not help resolve the issue of "checking download" 

I found my manifest.json but don't have an update_history.json.... I was hoping to manually edit one to see what happened. I presume it would be in the same folder? (Yup, I have system files visible 🙂 )

@unknown: Are you sure you were looking for update_history.json in the right folder? (It's LocalCache, not LocalState. The full pathname should be
%LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.MinecraftUWP_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\minecraftpe\DownloadTemp.)

But anyway, I do not recommend attempting to edit these files. I don't know how they control the game logic nor what cross-dependencies might exist between this and other files. You could break your MC install and have to reinstall it, and I can't guarantee that your license to paid content will be unaffected. I included the technical information for the devs, as a hint toward where to look for the cause. I didn't mean it as some kind of workaround.

I bought the PS4 Minecraft to my son. It has been installed at a PS5.

When we try to build the LittleBigPlanet world from the LittleBigPlanetTM Mash-up Pack, we're asked to update the pack.

After updating the pack the installation doesn't works. It seems that the updating is aborted.

It happens with The Nightmare Before Christmas pack too.

Could you check if there is a problem at the updating of these packs?

Same steps to reproduce, but cannot access the files to check the version mismatch. 

All: When commenting with additional pack names, please include the author name as well in case there are multiple packs with the same name. (It's not common, but it happens.)

please fix it soon, I've been wanting to play that for 3+ months.

@unknown: Have you actually tried again recently? I don't have direct access to the Marketplace team (which is who actually fixes these) but I had the impression that they had been notified of all the packs at least up until December, and I have personally verified that some later ones have been corrected. So if you're still having a problem with one from July, maybe I should try to look into it more.

BTW, right now the Marketplace team has to fix this manually, but I'm told they're working on a solution that will either prevent the problem or shorten the lead time to fixing them.

Unspeakable under water bunker . As of 5pm. 01/18/2023 . I want my money back . Says update, where create world should be  . Not working 

Also "25 tnts" by the bbb studios . Says you have to buy a template. When I've purchased it awhile ago . Now I can't play it any more unless I buy a template ??? This is on another account. What up with the new template ? 

@unknown: This issue is due to an elusive bug in the Marketplace team's procedures. The last I was told is that they didn't yet know what triggers it but they do know how to fix a given title once it's reported. My understanding is that they've fixed all the ones listed a few comments back, but we're continuing to collect new reports and passing them along to Mojang. I will be sure to include the two packs you've named in the new list, which should appear sometime tonight.

In the mean time: Templates are the saved worlds in Marketplace world and mash-up packs. You do not need to purchase the title again to get the template, just ignore that. Try creating your worlds again in a few days, after the Marketplace team has a chance to fix it.

With respect to your refund request, this is not a customer service site so that's not something the bug tracker can help you with. We don't have access to your account and we certainly can't get the details of your past transactions and payment method. This site is only for passing bug reports and supplementary information to the devs.

(In case you weren't aware, the staff here on Mojira are not Mojang or Microsoft employees, we just manage the bug reports and pass them on to the devs.)

Little Daughter very sad as SpellRune (on the list)  and Holiday Resort  are not downloading #sadness

My son can't access Winter Skyblock by pixelbiester. Same issue requests update that never happens. 

This happens with all marketplace items for my 2 daughters.  iOS 16.2 and Minecraft version 1.19.51. It doesn’t happen for me. You can click Download but it won’t download. They can’t download new items nor the items they purchased in the past. UPDATE: We cleared the Marketplace cache and rebooted the iPad and now we can download items from the Marketplace.  Instructions are in this Jira item. MCPE-54531

Hi Ryan, thanks for the suggestion. I tried that. Deleted marketplace cahce. Worlds, templates. Even the partially downloaded winter Skyblock world so we could re download it. Turned it off and on and a few times but still no joy.😞

As of 2023-23-01 Escape Room: Illager's Mansion by Pathway Studios only allows me to Update and never play.

These three do not download, allow update or world creation:

• Holiday Resort

• Lucky's Minigame Mayhem

• Magic Wands

• Marketplace Creator Tycoon

• Monster Attack: Nian

• PureBDcraft

• Rising Lava Oarkour

• Spellrune

I too have become effected by this bug just a few days ago. The following worlds are in my queue to download but have not done so for a couple days. they are stuck at 0% and the bar has not moved at all, just like the pictures at the top.

• Aether Dimension

• Police Underground base

• Advanced Farming

• Monster Attack : Nian

HeroFair also affected. 8 year old son can't play this world that he's just purchased.

This was previously reported last month, but we're also experiencing it with Pets by Team Vaeron on iOS.

Sonic the Hedgehog download failing on PS4 from within Minecraft game marketplace.

Having the same issue for two different maps on IOS

We are getting the same update loop bug on PS5 from the content "Weapons 3.0" from SNDBX. I have added the photos.

I had multiple of these already downloaded before but now they show that it's downloading without pressing update or anything. The table shows that Spellrune and the City RP are fixed but for me, it's showing that it's downloading

Star Odyssey: Beyond Space by Odd Block, Windows Marketplace Texture Pack

This happened to me with the world template for Shiver Mist Exiled by Monster Egg Studios. I got it a while ago but I forgot about it and I never made a world with it, so I tried to download it recently. I downloaded it, but immediately after the game told me I had to update the world. I clicked the update button multiple times, but nothing happened and it still wouldn't work. Whenever I clicked update it would just "downloads" the world template again without actually downloading anything into my files. I play on a iPad Pro and everything is up to date, iPadOS 16.5.1 and Minecraft version 1.20.1. I tried clearing the Marketplace cache and I also restarted my device (multiple times), but nothing is working.

Currently having this happen on the following title:

Robots by Team Vaeron
Minecraft for Windows (v 1.20.1)
Windows 11

This issue is occurring for me for Preston PlayzCraftable Houses by Meatball Inc. It is happening for me on both windows version and Xbox. I've tried reinstalling minecraft so that it's the only mod downloaded, but it still gives me only the option to "update" after downloading where it normally would say create game.

A problem was found in Kylin City made by LINSCRAFT, and there was no response after clicking the update button many times

Update loop i have cleared game cache and marketplace cache.

Partial Cause

I found a partial cause of this problem (more specifically, why it keeps showing as "Downloading")
The processState "downloadPending" is stuck in the download_state.json until the cancel button is pressed, but the cancel button does not go back to the content screen, only the X button does. With the X button, the processState is kept along with the rest of the pack info in that same file when it should be removed as it causes it to keep showing that it is "downloading". I recorded a side-by-side video of the game and the file being updated.

I, too, can not update marketplace content.    This has been going on for many months.     The two maps I tried to update have been stuck on "downloading" for a very long time.  

I'm having the issue on Windows with both of the following:

Unspeakable Underwater Bunker by Meatballs Inc.
PrestonPlayz with Craftable Houses by Meatballs Inc.

Festive Pizza Delivery Sim by 57 Digital

Upon purchasing the above mention game and selecting the download option the menu is stuck on the update option and the create world never shows up.

@unknown: I don't see any content named "Hero Fair". As stated at the top of the description, please provide the exact title and author. We cannot help you without knowing this information.

By the way, this ticket is a catch-all for Marketplace titles that have the stuck Update button. You need to comment here with the exact title and author you need to have reset, because until the root problem gets fixed each title has to be reset individually.

I thought I got that wrong, but I'm seeking customer support. An based on the link you sent its an official support channel, so I was asking about this bug and expecting to get an official reply for Mojang Studios and based on Bug Tracker Guidelines I just want check the status about this bug because it's affecting the behaviour of the platform and this is been here for more than a year without a solution.

Same issue with Everbloom's Wizard School Roleplay. For me, the update button DOES update to 100%, then the package installs, but after installation, the "Update" button remains and I can't create a world use the world template, as it just instructs me to Update again. I've checked that there's plenty of free space, and I've also navigated to Storage and deleted the world template, which changes the button back to 'Download' instead of 'Update', but once I download it, it's the same loop, just telling me it still needs an update.

Also, I did try clearing the Marketplace cache as well, but this didn't help.

This happens on both Xbox (One S) and PC (Windows 10).

Craftable Imposters by The Craft Stars. Windows 10. Whenever I click download it shows "downloading" and it completes, but it still shows "Update."

We have purchased 'Dragon Hero' made by PixelHeads. We downloaded it and afterwards there is a update button. We have updated it several times but the update button keeps on coming back. The device is a Ninento Switch. The version is the newest as of 21. Jan 2024.

I notice that the Marketplace entry for this pack is missing its pack image, which makes me suspect KA Studios submitted a malformed update pack and that's what caused the problem in your case. If I'm right, it's actually a different issue than this report was written for, but it's related so we've pointed the flaw out to the Marketplace team, who will have to contact KA Studios. I'd suggest giving them up to a week to correct it. In the meantime, you can disregard the comment I'll be leaving in a moment.

 Hello, I'm having issues with updating a world template that is titled Dinosaur Island, its developer going by the name "PixelHeads" I've attempted to update the template a dozen times and nothing, hope this will help me get back a template I really enjoyed. I do mainly play on my PC which utilizes Windows 11

Please help. I can not update Age of the Samurai by Magefall that I got from the bedrock MP.

This problem is occurring with "Rising City" by Glowfischdesigns, I did not see it on any lists.

Lord of Fire and Ice has the same issue. Followed all the directions for PC and IOS both no luck.

I use windows 10 and 11 both doesn't work on either machine. On Ipad 9th gen same issue latest version of each OS and Minecraft updated to the latest versions.

@unknown: Is that the title "Lord of Fire and Ice" by GoE-Craft? (Please always provide all requested information. Although in this case I only found one exact match, there are thousands of close matches and if I list the wrong one it will delay solving your problem.)

As info, when these issues occur, it's a problem with how the pack was processed in the Microsoft Store (which is where the Marketplace is hosted). It will therefore affect every player on every platform when they try to update it. This is also why it's not really a Minecraft bug, but we're handling it through the bug tracker because there's no direct support channel for the Store.
