Notice
According to Mojang's beta release changelog, the pink texture glitch should no longer occur after 1.19.20, the next update.
When playing on servers (confirmed for Cubecraft, The Hive and Galaxite) for long amounts of time, textures will start to change to pink. This is mainly for skins, but can also include UI, HUD, blocks and even the sky. Once glitched, the pinkness does not disappear until Minecraft has been restarted and it follows the user into single-player worlds as well. Finally, it will cause a crash when rejoining any server.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Join any server
2. Play for a prolonged period of time (about 2-3 hours)
3. Look for any unusual pink textures whilst playing
Observed Results:
Other players' skins will turn to a neon-like pink, possibly other textures too.
Expected Results:
Textures should not change from what they were before.
Update 17/3/23
Confirmed on 1.19.70

Very closely relates to MCPE-103791

Confirmed for 1.16.100

Affects 1.16.201.

This happens to me too, while playing on Hive.

I had MC open all night while my PC was in sleep. I turned it back on and the entire game was pink and there was no audio

This can be fixed by removing all active texture packs and then reactivating them

Confirmed for the server Lifeboat, also happens on the Nintendo Switch and Windows 10 Edition.

Main menu also goes black after a certain amount of time on Windows 10.
Could you please include information about your graphics card and its drivers?
You might also like to run dxdiag and copy the relevant information from there. (Win+R → dxdiag) - be sure to remove any personal information.

I personally don't have this problem on Windows 10 so my GPU and drivers will be the same as an Xbox One S.

works on acer aspire E5
additionally when rejoining servers instead of the game crashing more textures become pink, this can be repeated to make more and more things pink

On a single player world, mobs such as rabbits and foxes appeared neon pink. On a separate occasion, on a different laptop and on a realm, all the armorstands were bright pink. On yet another device and on the Hive, the other players appeared pink. Closing the game of Minecraft and reopening the game resolved the issue.

This is very crazy glitch it also happens on win 10 edition but it looks like it doesnt happen on android (Atleast for me)

I’ve been having this issue happen on my Win 10 version. I have an RTX 3070 But it sounds like it’s on most platforms. It happens from my experience for playing for an hour or more on cubecraft(any server) and after I get those textures my game crashes.

This happened to me. Win10

My daughter has the same issue. It follows her from public servers to local games and realms. It happens on multiple devices (Win10, XBox, Switch, iOS) and it eventually crashes or she is forced to restart the game. Other accounts in the same household using the same devices do not have this issue (at least not as frequently, she is the heaviest server player). The game has become unplayable for her. I've spent a small fortune on this game that my whole family plays and I'm sick of the constant bugs that are making it unplayable. She's gravitating to Roblox now, which is a steaming pile of garbage, but at least the textures load.

once texture begin becoming pink, you can leave and rejoin the server repeatedly to slowly have it happen to more and more textures
[media]

At least for entity textures, you can replicate the pink glitch by removing the textures array from its respective render controller.

Same exact thing happens with me, after playing for a while, skins and the stuff you touch that access' something or brings you somewhere turns pink. This makes games unplayable after a while because you can't properly see any of the things you really need to see. The issue is saying resolved but me and my friends still encounter this issue almost everyday or every other day.

It happens very frequently on The Hive server. I don't see this much on any other server but it happens.
It is frustrating to see that this very common game breaking bug still exists after 6 months of someone reporting it. The only permanent fix for this right now as we continue to wait another 6 months, is to roll back to a previous update before this was an issue. I believe you can only go back to a previous update on Windows 10 though. But rolling back to a past update requires a bit of hassle.
You can find YouTube videos on how to go back to a previous Minecraft update.
I think version 1.16.100 was the last update which doesn't include this bug.

This occurred for me too, also on my friend's Realm.

It still happens in 1.17.2 but after it happens the game crashes (PS4)

The same thing happened to me but on the hive

I play on Ps4 and this glitch still happens in 1.17.10 This picture shows the hive during the sonic event and all entities turned pink. Then the ps4 crashed a few minutes later. I know a friend which plays on switch and it never happened to him. And he plays for hours at a time.

I can say I too experienced this bug just recently while playing on the hive server on windows 10. It's hard to tell who's who while playing modes such as murder mystery and such when everyone and certain items have the same pink texture.

I heard of that bug a long time ago, and first got it just around a month ago. It seems to only occur on large servers. Small servers, like player worlds and just servers with low player counts don't seem to run into this issue.

Everyone pls vote if you want this bug to be fixed

I have done some extensive testing over the last weeks, trying to pinpoint the cause of the issue.
Only appears to affect textures/sounds that are not set to "load on low memory"
The RAM usage of Minecraft slowly increases over time
Sometimes, Minecraft can get stuck for a second, having a lag spike out of nowhere. This does not change the RAM usage, but still sometimes causes the bug.
The bug is 100% reproducible by filling up the system's RAM using other programs (or limiting the amount of RAM Minecraft can use), and can thus be reliably triggered whilst having the game running
I am currently playing 1.17.20 and played around with the new async-texture settings. I attached my settings.
What i have noticed additionally:
Usually, once you experience the bug and try to disconnect from the server, the pink textures remain, and often the game crashes
Having
gfx_max_dequeued_textures_per_frame
set to any number (in my case 128) andgfx_async_texture_loads: 1
sometimes removes the pink textures when disconnecting, and once you reconnect (without requiring a restart of the game) sometimes all textures are back to normal.
Though the last part was observed on a server that has a resource pack applied (contains a small glyph_E0 file), so upon disconnect Minecraft reloads the textures. I could not check if it "fixes itself" without a pack reload yet.

This also happens in the singleplayer worlds.

It crashed my game three times

For me this only happens sometimes when I minimize the game, and it only turns skins pink. Profile pictures turn into pink and black.

I've only experienced this issue when on the hive, never in single payer or added servers. The time period for me is also a little random sometimes it can happen after half and hour, to an hour and sometimes happens instantly.
Only custom textures/models are affected for me never any vanilla textures but sometimes does also affect player skins.

I can confirm this bug.
On Windows 10 & xbox editon.
Its turns randomly some entitys pink an gets more and more over the time.

This happens on every platform. It is the most annoying bug ever.

does seem to happen on the latest version of bedrock as well. Also, it seems to me that I need to play on only 1 server for extended periods of time, and all entities with player models are affected for me.
Thanks for your patience while we continue to investigate this issue. For those affected, could you please add any additional repro steps that trigger this issue? For instance, does it occur after switching between apps, or after resuming the game? Or does it happen after changing servers? Anything that can help the team reproduce the bug reliably will hopefully help us to get this resolved more quickly.

How to reproduce this issue:
Play on a server that uses a lot of custom geometry models that use a custom human geometry for a long period.
After a while 2/3 hours the textures change to pink.
There isn't really an easier way.
It really does seem to happen randomly.
I've had this happen ALL (not sometimes just all the time) the time when I just stayed AFK for a few hours.
Daniel also posted something maybe usefull at the first of September.

I play Hive, and it normally happens (after about 2-3 hours of playing) when I transfer from say the hub to say a skywars game.

@jey wells pink glitch has a higher likelihood of occuring when switching apps.

This bug most likely happens due to a error in Minecraft’s featured servers. Especially cubecraft and hive… it happens due to custom entities being summoned in with the items that exceed the name limit of an anvil (35 characters) in lag conditions and enough stress on the server to bug your textures. This texture in the game is replacing any of the following textures: particles, block entities, entities, armour stands, armour, flowing water/lava, menus, hotbar slots and finally the screen itself
only solution is to restart Minecraft. If it continues, reinstall the game.

Another way to reproduce that I have not seen stated anywhere else can be reproduced by spamming the /hub command inside of the Hive. Using this method, I can reliably reproduce the pink glitch without having to spend hours playing the game.

There’s two ways I’ve gotten this glitch to appear. One would be being in a server for near an hour or so. The second way I’ve gotten it to work is for example on hive I do the command /hub a few times maybe like 30 or so, and then skins start turning pink. It appears to happen when ever the game try’s to refresh the textures

Hive developer here.
The glitch is a memory-related issue, specifically with how player skins are handled. Seemingly, the client doesn't release player skins from memory when it is no longer needed. This leads me to assume that this results in the clients texture atlas/memory being exhausted, resulting in RenderDragon being unable to load/assign new textures.

Affects 1.18 😭

Another quick way to reproduce this bug that I haven't seen mentioned yet; go on the Hive and play the Murder Mystery minigame. After about 20-30 minutes, (depending on how long your games go) the glitch will begin to occur and textures will begin to turn pink.

I experienced the same issue. :/

Affects 1.18.12 hotfix

For those who are affected try deleteng hive packs from settings

Pink glitch is now on all platforms

This bug is not necessarily related to a computer's hardware. It's more related to the rendering system that they use.

This still exists and it will be worse since it is on all platforms now...

This issue seems to be caused by the renderdragon game engine as it now happens on iOS and Android which got the renderdragon in 1.18.30 and previously didn't effect mobile platforms prior to this update

@Mega_spud and @Jay_Wilson
There is a part of the issue on windows 10 where clicking F11 to put the game in full screen causes the whole screen to go pink and you have to force quit Minecraft.

@Bizhan Gonzalez does that happen after parts start turning pink or is that another way to trigger it?

Real talk: Does this happen when vsync is on? For me it never happened until I turned my vsync off. Why is everyone complaining about the pink glitch.
*me: hmm
*also me: vsync has input delay
Hehe me: turns off vsync
Minecraft: here's your order sir, pink glitch, enjoy your order.
[media]Edit: i didn't order anything lol, Disclaimer: this could not apply to all people since everyone has different computers. Others have vsync on they still get it[the glitch]. Just happened to me for some reason.
pink glitch is an actual nightmare help

I've tried both and it happens with vsync on and also with v-sync off.

From what we know it is not related to vsync and rather is related to memory
Seeming to be particularly common on devices with integrated graphics, in which video memory is shared with the RAM which results in a lower amount of memory to be used for the game

Yes, you are correct about that sir. I use integrated graphics, Integrated gpus usually uses shared memory. I believe (but not sure at all) vsync uses less ram because my phone is only 2gb in ram. I am not sure though. Pink glitch could still happen to others who have vsync on but my entire 3 years of playing murder mystery and renderdragon with vsync on never experienced any pink glitch until i turned it off.
Note: I turned off vsync cuz i experience in delay like 100ms in my game. I searched tutorials on YT on what causes it. Turning vsync off for 45 minutes is worth it than significant input delay all the time. The vsync delay caught on me like on 1.18.31, others experienced it since the release of renderdragon though. Mojang should really add more people to their technical graphical team. And they should get like an average or below average devices for testing performance issues. My PC is pretty high end 3 years ago so this performance issues did not come to me until my pc is aged. I don't want to waste more money on a new pc cuz why not buy something else other than that if it is still working like a big chungus train.

Ok so I ran a test. I had an older Dell desktop with integrated graphics and a prebuilt top of the line computer with a separate GPU. I ran them both with the help of my friend. For context we would play Murder Mystery on the HIVE. The older computer would consistently get the link glitch after 20 minutes while the high-end computer would get it consistently after an hour. I think it has something to do with integrated graphics. Hope this test helps. If you would like me re-do the test just ask me.

Please take note to this tho.
I saw a fix on yt that prevents the pink glitch from happening altough it works, it is not always the best solution. It just overwrites the old unused textures. It would still leave the RAM full. The thing that devs should do is to code it to properly load required textures and also to properly UNLOAD them too after you leave them behind so you can use your ram more efficiently.

1.19 changelog did not state this bug as fixed. It's probably still there but we need to check it first. Maybe they fixed it.

Definitely not fixed. Playing Murder Mystery on the hive for ~30 min causes this glitch on 1.19.0

Just started noticing this 1.19.2 iPad Pro iOS 15 vsync off. playing on hive it’s super annoying to have to quit out to fix.

Can confirm in 1.19.10 (Windows 10). Also, when I take Minecraft out of fullscreen mode while I am pink glitched, the game crashes.

Guys this will get fixed on 1.19.20 LETS FREAKING GOOOO 🎉🎉🎉https://feedback.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/articles/7814091998989-Minecraft-Beta-Preview-1-19-20-23

AFTER YEARS PINK GLITCH GOT FIXED!!

omg it actually getting fixed!! can't wait for 1.19.20!!

This is great news

These news are greater than the invention of gravity.

The pink glitch is finally going to be fixed soon. In the newest update for the beta they enclosed that they were going to fix it. Now we just have to wait for the full release for those of us who don't want to play on the beta.

Is it crashing for anyone on PlayStation?

Let's don't celebrate to early (read the changelog on beta/preview 1.19.20.24) go to the graphical changes and found it out

1.19.20 changelog:
[media]
Preview 1.19.30.23 states that the fix returned. The description needs to be updated. 😉

Thank you pink glitch for being on bedrock edition for so long but it's time to say goodbye we will miss you

I think this fix caused new problem. The new update, 1.19.30, decreases FPS and chunk loading speed by a LOT! (see MCPE-162424)The game is now laggy even on high end devices. There seems to be memory leak in the game or some errors in the game's memory management. The pink glitch was caused by memory-not cleaning, and it was fixed by changing memory managing method. This change maybe has serious issue and caused the huge performance hit. So I guess that the fix of the pink glitch would cause a huge performance issue. revert the fix of the pink glitch may help solving performance issue which is more important.

So I just experienced this and Idk if this was regular this bug or new patch-related. (I play IOS) I stepped away from my iPad for a few minutes to check something else, (I didn’t leave the world)and when I returned, my world was not rendering. It was just all invisible except the signature glitched pink block in my hand and the blue conduit power particles. After moving around a bit, the world loaded back in to normal. Though for a split second it was pink and black. TL;DR went afk and came back to a glitched world not rendering in until I moved a bit

Check if you are in Minecraft 1.19.30 or higher, this error should no longer happen, you can check the version of the game from the main menu

Still an issue on versions after the "fix", but way less common

(my computer has 16GB ram, windows 10)
RAM values are for the game only.
This happened to me.
This happens extremely quickly on Mineplex right now.
I was trying to get a picture, went into fullscreen and the game was solid pink.
More Testing: Going into full screen it went full pink, Exiting fullscreen fixes it. This happened after the characters go pink.
Later:
9GB ram usage. Player icons on pause screen are pink, characters are pink. Dressing room is super pink. Achievements is a full pink screen, but you can leave.
Now it is at 10.5GB! It is unplayable at types. My available RAM in task manager is below 500MB! The settings screen is mostly fine, just a few icons are pink,
Then ram usage jumped down to 8.5 GB suddenly.
After some gameplay, after /hub I saw steeves for a short second and then they turned pink! Now 10 ram usage. Task manager says ~500M-1G avalible.
Now it dropped to 6.5GB.
The drops happen while in task manager.

This bug happens on the latest version 1.19.60

the textures most likely aren't unloaded from memory properly because mineplex has a bug right now that is constantly sending skin packets, stress testing the "fix" Filling up memory fast

I experienced this bug in 1.20.51 when there was Universal Studios server event. The bug happens when you are rejoining the server many times.
[media]

@Highcrafter Your issue is continued to being tracked in MCPE-167489

It might be back... I was playing on a server that uses a ton of custom textures and after an hour I started to see some textures turned pink.... 1.20.70 really seems broken. But I didn't take a screenshot

This issue isn't "back" it actually never left. It was just partially resolved and made to happen after a much longer time period now rather than completely resolved and made to never happen at all. A new ticket was created for it at MCPE-167489 and this ticket needs to be reopened.

So mine is happening only on one specific world of mine that is in realms. i really worked hard on wat i did, else i'd redo the world i'm working on, but i have tried everything to remove the pink glitch
[media]
The problem still exists (1.21.1), it occurs on the featured server only Except the hive

This glitch is happening on the MCC server.

This is not resolved. And it doesnt only happen after long periods of time. After entering The Hive, everything was pink immediately, and the water is blue with no texture. Latest update.

happening right now on the MCC server

The "Pink Glitch" Still is not resolved its happening to me on MCC Island and i'm too tired of having to restart my game every time it happens...

This issue is still present in release 1.21.2, and has been prominent in the MCC event server. It got to the point where my game ended up crashing when I opened my inventory.

Even with the texture limit removed this persists. Is the game throttling its own memory cause its ridiculous next gen consoles are facing these issues.

I solved this error by clearing these folders:
C:\Users\"user"AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.MinecraftUWP_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\minecraftpe\packcache\resource
C:\Users\"user"\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.MinecraftUWP_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\premium_cache\persona
it helped me on version 1.21.41

Still affects 1.21.51.

Affects 1.21.51 and freeze the OS. The disk & CPU activity its high after loading.

Affects v1.21.73
