Sometimes it can appear to be raining when it is not, or appear to be clear when it is actually raining. Weather may also appear differently to different players in a world (MCPE-138691). This seems to be the result of client-server desync. Using the /weather
command or sleeping in a bed to end a storm may not visually change the weather. The bug often happens after playing in a world for a while and minimizing the app/switching between apps.
Steps to Reproduce:
Download and open
Type
/weather clear
or sleep in a bedNotice that the rain doesn't go away
Spawn a zombie
Notice that it burns
When I did the /weather clear command the rain didn't go away.

This bug may be inconsistent since it hasn’t happened every time I go sleep to reset the weather cycle. I slept 6 times and it kept raining when I woke up because of this bug. The weather cycle never reset and it kept raining until it stopped on it’s own an hour later. However, a few minutes later when it started raining again, I went to sleep and the weather cycle reset like how it was supposed to.

What you are really seeing is just a visual glitch. The sky light stays the same as in rain, and the sky and clouds are the same, but it is not really raining. Zombies will still burn, fires will still burn on blocks other than netherrack, soul soil and soul sand. Riptide won't work either. If you do /weather clear the rain does go away, except you can still see it. Reloading the world will correct the weather. The attachment "sun at night.jpg" is in a desert where there is a "thunderstorm" but it is still day.

I have also encountered this glitch. If you re-log after sleeping it will usually clear the weather. I've noticed that farmer villagers and bees do their thing as if there's no rain. However, fishing seems to still be sped up as though it's raining.
I also encountered an instance when a thunder storm started but there was no visual or audio cue until mobs started swarming me.
I am playing in Android in a world created in 1.17.10 with caves and cliffs enabled.

The opposite of this happened to me for the first time just two days ago, in 1.17.11. I was in an automated crop farm in a plains biome. The light was dimming and my farmer stopped harvesting, so I thought night must be coming. But when I checked the clock, it was actually morning, so I went outside and the sky was full of dark clouds but there was no rain. I did /weather clear
which fixed it. If Leo28456's explanation about rain rendering being out of sync with actual game state is accurate, it would explain my experience as well.

This has now happened to me several times in a world downloaded from MCPE-142285. Not only did I not have to play the world for a while before it happened, it was already raining when I opened the world (for about the 5th time; I was testing the other bug) and my /weather clear
command had no visible effect. I have attached a video.

Maybe I'm wrong but the thunder sound is also playing underground (y=5), and is really loud, (maybe this was in bedrock always the case, or never noticed it.) and its definitely thundering more than normal (every ~15 seconds).
Version: 1.17.41, Windows 10 Edition
Reply from @unknown: hearing thunder underground is intended: see MC-19263.
Reply from @unknown: You can lower the volume using the Settings > Audio > Weather slider. (It also controls the rain volume.)

This is happening for me as well. Minecraft 1.18.2.

In case this does actually duplicate the bug I reported (I am not so sure it does): for me the key seemed to be that the weather mode which was naturally started doesn't respond to commands, but any player-initiated change in weather DOES respond to commands.
In any case where a player set for example "/weather rain", subsequent commands like "clear" would work properly as expected. In my testing, it only seems to be naturally-started weather that acts up.

Riptide causes a lot of problems with this bug. For example, fire can actually exist under rain, because is not actually raining, however riptide can still be used for some reason, causing a lot of desync issues when using it, affecting gameplay a lot too. I haven't tested if other things desync too, only fall damage at the moment.
This video kinda describes this desync, especially at the end where i just died way before touching the ground:

I believe this happens to me and another on my realm. The weather is different and even day and night is different for each person. It will rain and rain and rain even after sleeping for the other player. Hostiles will remain on fire even though it looks like it's raining on their end. Mobs will spawn at the wrong times of day on their end. My side seems alright. Though I've experienced crashing. Both on the realm and on singleplayer worlds. Don't know if that is linked.

I have only ever seen this in a realm, it may be that this is a bug that should be associated with the realms project rather than bedrock game code project. It may be helpful to list how you can know it if the rain your have on your device is not accuring on the realm. The main ones I have found useful are below.
Villagers go about there normal buisness during the day in the rain- that is they are not running around like the sky is fallin down.
Zombies burn in the rain during the day.
If you ask other people on the realm it is not raining for them.
Sleeping does not stop the rain.
Logging out and immediatly reloggin into the realm stops the rain - no need to restart the entire mincraft app or wait for the realm to stop/restart. Ok so this last one is also a work around... 🙂

To shed additional light on the issue, I see this quite often in non-Realms single player mode where the server is running alongside the client. Sometimes the world loads with rain starting even though I swore the weather was clear when I last exited. Sleeping doesn't stop it. The only way to stop it is to exit the world and re-load it. On rarer occasions, it will happen mid-game which also requires a world reload. So the issue is not limited to games connected to remote servers.

This bug is also apparent in 1.19.20.20

Affects 1.19.22 - 1.19.40.20

Affects 1.19.22 in a single-player survival world.
Reply from @unknown:
As you can see in the Affected Versions list (not to mention the comment immediately above), it has already been reported in 1.19.22. Please don't duplicate reporting, it causes us unnecessary work.

Happening in multiplayer. Version 1.19.51 both players on androids. Host is usually unaffected. Joining players experience bees coming out during rainstorms. This is how we know the host is fine. Rejoining sometimes fixes it but the storms shows up a few moments afterwards on the host as well. The weather is synced then.

Happened in our world on PS4 which is about 2 years old. Playing split screen, it's always raining for player 1 (except when in a mesa biome) but for anyone else, the weather is normal. Riptide works everywhere for player 1 but of course not for player 2 where its not raining.
Transferred the world to PS5 and problem still exists there. Sleeping in different beds, reloading etc. doesnt work. Havent activated cheats as wanted to keep it as true survival. Im guessing if its not fixed after 18 months, it never will be?
Edit - wow just fixed it. Went to a mesa biome and placed a new bed. Slept when night time and when we woke, the rain had stopped. Note, that I think it was actually raining when we did this as using flint and steel to create a fire (just player 1 was active) would not start a fire due to the 'rain'.

I get this sometimes, it's best described as 'Client-sided rain", I can use still use riptide, but others don't see the rain, I don't get my normal conduit power and can still burn enemies.
Just had this happen for 10 in-game days straight in 1.19.51

Hey,
I play on XBOX SERIES X only and I don't play on realms or multiplayer servers at all. I'm a singleplayer survival player. All of the screenshots I've attached to this bug were taken 27-01-23 19:00-21:00pm.
Vesion 1.19.51 no experiments active or cheats turned on.
I've noticed this bug occur so many times during my year in my world so far. It's been a constant I can say that for sure. After reading this bug tracker and playing with all the different things myself over the past few months heres my findings.
Logging out and back into your world. This doesn't have to be done in quick sucession just the action of logging out can cause the rain to turn on as soon as you log back in.
To solve: Sleeping can very rarely fix the issue. Logging out and back in can sometimes work, tends to be more successful than sleeping. Shutting down Minecraft and loading back up entirely has a tendancy to fix it on most occassions.
If you have cheats TURNED ON then the only way I've found fixes this is if you use the command to change the weather to Thunderstorm.. and then back to Clear and that has a very very high fix rate.
(Please Note: All my attachements begin with RainBug)
Mobs will still burn during the day - I've attached a zombie in a boat to showcase this.
Bee's will still continue to go about their buisness - Attached a pic again to showcase this.
Clouds are VERY DARK which suggests 'Thunder' is turned on.
Copper Rods will occasionally do their little white sparkle to say that THUNDER is infact turned on. (I had to take 100+ screenshots to get the few I've attached with the sparkles!)
Riptide will work outside of water
Channeling Trident DOES NOT work on mobs even though Copper Rod indicates Thunder state is on.
The bait time reduction during fishing in the rain IS applied while the bug is active.
I'm no developer or coder so I know nothing when it comes fixing bugs but for me something suggests that the issue could be Thunder weather related perhaps? Perhaps when Thunder is turned on but the weather is clear and you logout it's forcing a rainy game state when you log back in? This is just my uneducated theory. I find Bedrock edition is very very difficult to get Thunder to happen correctly.
I really hope this helps and if you need any further info, pics or research I'll gladly assist!
EDIT: 10:54am 28-01-23 - Oh I should also add that I have experienced this issue when playing in another world that's just me and my girlfriend. Xbox Series X & S this time. This world isn't on realms either.. I just invite her manually (we like good render distance).
When it happened to us, I could see the rain and she couldn't see any rain at all the weather was clear. All of the above still applied like the copper rod situation, bee's and mobs burning. I was able to get the fishing bait time reduction but she wasn't.

Still happening in 1.19.83 on Xbox Series X on a realm. Relogging resolves the issue.

Still Affect in 1.20.20.23

1.20.30 Switch OLED, Game Card
I believe this bug might have something to do with this older bug MCPE-11867 as I did in fact exited a solo world while this glitch snow was going on.
Had some backups with the snow layers intact in the file thumbnail, but the world itself is a mess of tattered, randomized snow layers, as if it snowed for the very 1st time in the area.
Didn't want to keep playing in that world for fear of potential corruption, so I opt for the backup from a previous session.

I am experiencing the same issue in my Windows 10 bedrock survival world. World was started and issue first experienced in Bedrock release 1.20.32. The issue continues in 1.20.40. With the first occurence, two players were in the world. Only the host continued to see rain after sleeping. The second player had clear skies at the same time. The rain has cleared each time after reloading the world so far. This is a survival only world, so no cheats have been attempted or enabled. The only default game setting changed is 'firespread' off.

I'm having this issue in my world. It seems to be raining and Riptide does work, but my Channelling Trident isn't working on lighting rods. If I sleep while it's raining at night, ten minutes later it starts raining again.
This also happens with thunderstorms: I got 3 different thunderstorms in 30 minutes, but none actually spawned lightning.
Sleeping (during thunderstorms or rain at night) or re-logging seem to work sometimes, but not always.

This bug is much more deadly than it seems: Riptide tridents are affected, causing a client-server desync where you can use Riptide, but you take "unfair" fall damage because the server does not believe you should be allowed to use Riptide.
I attached two videos to demonstrate this: riptide_desync_over_water_splash_sounds and riptide_desync_over_land_fall_damage. Using Riptide during client-side rain causes fall damage when the player shouldn't be taking any. Over water, the bubbles bar appears and splash sounds are played without ever entering the water.
This should be considered a critical fix with Hardcore on the way.

This bug (or a related one) still exists in Bedrock V1.21.31 - weather for two players in the same location is different, for one it is raining and the sky is grey, for the other the sky is blue and not raining.
[media][media]
Affects 1.21.50.24 Preview.

Examining an affected save, it can go like this.
If rainLevel (float) is 0 andlightningLevel (float) is 1, this will trigger a fake rain bug

Affects 1.21.41.
It's an annoying bug, please fix this.

Can confirm in 1.21.41 on Xbox. Rain darkens the entire sky and you cannot sleep. Unfortunately, this also makes it harder to discern night and day. Since this appears to be due to client-server desync, I assume that this could be fixed via weather becoming server-side, with constant exchange between the client computer and the server holding important real-time data.

This has finally been fixed in the 1.21.50.28 Beta & Preview. One step closer to a bug free Bedrock!

This bug is still not quite fixed in 1.21.50.28. However, the remaining issues have moved to MCPE-188213 to separate them from the more deadly (riptide-related) issues from this report, which were fixed.

still the same on 1.21.71 on PS4
