i have experienced this issue, but i am being pushed UP onto nearby stairs (quartz)... this issue does not work when next to oak stairs
edit: okay, so ive done some playing around and its pushing me off the path blocks onto the stairs because underneath the stairs is a top half slab. if i remove the top half slab and replace with a full block, i do not get pushed. interestingly if i use leaf blocks, i still get pushed.

Without a doubt due to fix for MC-166718.
The fix for both of these would be to make every mob suffocate so long as their eye level is inside of a block that can be collided with, rather than just declaring soul sand, farmland and grass paths to be full blocks, with full blocks being the only blocks that can suffocate.

I am also having this problem. I just wanted to add that when jumping back onto the soul sand or path block, there is some kind of invisible barrier that I need to jump over.

This will also happen in the Nether, standing on the edge of a Lava Lake is quite treacherous. It's like sliding downhill.

Same problem with mine, only seems to be 2 blocks of farmland that are inline with a water-block. https://youtu.be/d1sBrMyJLjU

I remember this being a bug in the 1.15 snapshots! How weird it is that it returned.

Wow. 47 votes after 5 hours, major bug xD

I had made an issue report about it like a minute ago thinking I would be helpless due to how unreproducible the bug is. but now I see im not alone!

Yea, this is happening to me too

yep can confirm

same here

The same is happening to me, too

Villagers are not affected

This issue only affects players which is why other entities are not affected.

Good night.
When I reviewed this pre-release 5, I just noticed that certain "semi-full" blocks, similar to: soul sand, pushed you for no reason and when I wanted to climb on those blocks that were located on the shore, did not allow you to pass or walk.
I'll add some examples.
Best regards

Tested with only soul sand myself, but i wanted to corroborate that attempting to jump up one level to a soul sand block results in the barrier sensation, or a push backwards if you manage to sprint up there. Also, simply standing on any single block at the edge of elevation will push you off, whereas being even a 2nd block away from the nearest ledge produces no effect.

This is MAJOR BUG.

It's RETURN OF MC-166386.

I hope this gets solved quickly. It's really frustrating.

When it says "RESOLVED," does that mean it will be fixed in the next release?

This ticket still shows as open. I reverted back to pre-4 and I am not seeing the issue. I hope it is fixed soon.

George Weimer When the status is "resolved", the resolution "fixed" and fixed version says "future version 1.16+" or a different unreleased version (in that case 1.16 pre-release 6, then it will be fixed in a future version.

im waiting for pre release 6, that glitch is very annoying

Confimed seen in pre-5

Same thing here. When i'm in water and go onto farmland i cannot get onto it . Very odd.

it's not like a water flow because this not affect item dropped on the farmland block.

This bug is currently being worked on by @unknown, but keep in mind that it's currently the weekend, so you may need to wait a while for the fix to be available in the next pre-release.

Doesn't just have to be a partial block. Any transparent block placed next to a partial-height block appears to exhibit this behavior.
Does not require trying to jump from one height to another.
Reproed with: eight layers of snow placed next to (on the same level as) farmland. Simply try to walk off of the transparent block onto the farmland (path, block, soul sand).
Does not repro with a snow block placed next to farmland.
Does not repro with seven snow layers rather than farmland next to a transparent block.
