Block Lag and Sound Lag

*General Lag Issues*

This ticket was reported fixed in the 1.16.210 changelog.

Original Description:

Ever since 1.16.100 released, I have been having several issues with blocks being placed. The game registers that I have placed blocks however visually I cannot see them. The game eventually corrects this and places them all at once after about 15 seconds or so (on average, sometimes shorter sometimes longer).

Whenever this occurs there is also an issue with the sound. Other blocks can be broke and placed and visually show even when the above issue is occuring. So I'll place a string of 20 Birch Wood Planks and visually they will not show however I can mine and break torches and place torches and these will visually appear as they should even while the Birch Planks are still trying to render (not sure if thats the right word). During the time the blocks are trying to render/load sound cuts away except footsteps. So no sound for breaking, placing, taking damage, from MOBs, etc. except for footsteps when walking. Sound returns once the blocks render/load.

Not sure why this occurs.

Ive tried everything to reduce lag but nothing has worked

I also have it on a Windows 10 device. Noticed with beacon effects timing out and flowing entities bouncing back.

My Friends and I run a bedrock dedicated server and I've heard from most of them that they encounter it as well, on and off the server. Disabling server-authoritative-movement helped the lag issue but did not eliminate it.

I am having serious lag and performance issues on my PS4 too. It takes my PS4 around 10 minutes to open Minecraft while on the iPhone it opens in 30 seconds. By the time I get to the main menu, the game freezes up a lot and doesn’t even load my skin. With servers, it sometimes just keeps me on the loading screen forever and if I try to press leave it just freezes and doesn’t do anything. As a result, I have to boot Minecraft back up again and hope to not get stuck on the Mojang Logo screen. This game has serious issues with performance and is practically unplayable until they are fixed. What is disappointing is that I bought the new Star Wars pack but I can’t play it. I am looking forward to the Caves & Cliffs update, I love mining, and I hope this issues are fully fixed by then.

My phone: Xiaomi Redmi 4X

I'm experiencing A LOT of lag spikes too I had around 40 - 60 fps, I'm using resource pack (Bedrock tweaks - never had any lag problems with it) and I'm also using a shader (which removes the selection circle - never had any problems with it too) and after this update I'm still using the same resource packs and have around 15 - 35 FPS, it takes long for game to respond like clicking a button and opening a door with it, or the sounds are delayed too or opening inventory takes like around 1 - 3 seconds. I hope this issue gets resolved quickly.

Edit: I deactivated all my resource packs put the video settings to lowest as possible and it still lagged (I had around 25 fps) I also discovered that if I load new chunks really quickly, they don't actually load and even the already-generated terrain is on some blocks unloading and loading quickly (like flickering between it).

Edit 2: Inventory is really laggy too, it takes too much time to move item from one slot to another slot and sometimes (after you open inventory and its lagging) there's a glitch that when you click for example the open inventory button, you need to click little below it and basically what that is, is that Minecraft thinks you are clicking higher, than you are actually clicking (and this bug was in lower versions too).

Edit 3: I also think that this is a rendering issue because it takes long to play the sounds and probably the game plays the sound when what did you do, is rendered, same thing with opening world and loading chunks... etc.

I am playing on Windows 10 edition (GTX 1650 - i5-9900k) - I am having pretty large performance issues- it is not at all relating to particles etc. Just commands, entities and blocks. Commands are running REALLY slow - my always active command is only running like 4 times a second - 5x slower than usual. An enderman in the world was also stuck mid air, it's collision box was moving like normal, but it's body and it's animations were in a completely different place. Eating seems at least 2x slower - I assume with lag. I have tried removing the pending tick data to see if it's a world issue - nope.

Thank for your help Jay! 🙂

I'm playing on the original Xbox One so I was already having some lag at times, but things like the block placement being invisible listed above, the environment taking much longer than normal to load in, as well as a significant increase in lag while moving around has occurred since the update. I don't currently have any packs in the world I'm using. I have also noticed that similar to the issue with the ender dragon listed above, ghasts seem to be much more jittery in their movement and they are much more difficult to hit with arrows with some passing straight through them.

Nintendo Switch.

I will add that I was trying to take a long minecart ride after updating to 1.16.100 and the lagginess/jitteriness of it made it such that it was seemingly faster to just run along the tracks.

Also encountered invisible mobs in a cave. I was taking damage from nowhere. Didn't know what was going on so I just ran ahead and encountered two zombie standing frozen in place. I attacked them but did not die without a long pause.

@unknown I have removed all my resources pack from Global Resources and I removed my world's resources as well as my behavior packs. But after doing that, for me the lag start only when I enter my spawn chunks (that is the area where my base, farms, and most animals stay). The lag soon go away after when I unload the chunks. In my world, I'm currently standing below my iron farm (FYI, my iron farm is far from my spawn chunk) and I have no lag, everything is smooth. But after when I go back to my base, the lag appears drastically. This is how I started getting lag, for everyone else will hve different experiences. And my device is Huawei Y5 2019.

migrated

On the Vivo y11 device, you notice a long loading of the world, lay blocks (When you put blocks, spill liquid and set something on fire, all this happens a couple of seconds after you hit the screen, but the block hitbox is already shown)
There is also a bug with sound (or rather, its delay when you place a block, break a block, set it on fire, etc.)

Rayth

@GinePik that issue you're describing sounds like entity lag in your spawn area (too many animals?). The fact it goes away when you unload that area signals there's an issue in that area somewhere.

Regarding the block placing, Can't seem to reproduce. This may be down to your individual pc performance, or if you're on a server it could be server side lag.

migrated

The mobs do not appear in the areas where there is no darkness even increasing the distance by default there are no mobs as before and there is more lag and before that did not happen there are even mobs floating like the villagers and that did not happen before.

migrated

Playing on the Switch.

I have noticed some lag issues too. Namely what appears to be frozen mobs. I can’t hit them but if I go near them they try to kill me in their normal way, but all I see is the mob frozen some distance away. For creepers, I see the flashing animation on the frozen mob before it blows up right next to me. On screen the mob is still some blocks away.

I am seeing stuck minecart hoppers too. These stop at 3-4 times an hour when I am afk nearby. No chunks are unloaded etc as I don’t move. I have to break them, which seems harder than normal as they don’t respond immediately. This could be lag induced ? Maybe?

I play on a s7 edge my most serious problems are the server-type lag in a world of my own as if I were on an external server with bad internet but none of the 2, on the other hand the villagers when they go to sleep they become invisible or find themselves lying out of bed and finally the chunk load is pretty bad compared to 1.16.40

The frames are almost the same, but my problem is with th chunk loading. My device has 4gb of ram so 30-33 is always my fps and my device Vivo v7.

migrated

The frames are the same as the 1.16.40 version but when I updated it to 1.16.100 the chunk loading became slow and there are latency on sounds and block placements, the device I am using is Oppo A3s, I know it's not the best device but it wasn't like this before the update.

migrated

Same on Xbox realms

Also hard lag with villagers laying on the floor and thru doors.

Also horses frozen in place and sunk into the ground.

Bees frozen in place.

migrated

Noticeable on PS4 since updating to 1.16.100. Even when clicking out of my inventory, I watch the world redraw in front of me whereas it used to be instantaneous. Other than this issue tho it's a great update.

sjbutts2000

@Mega_Spud, I did what you recommended, I removed all texture and resource packs from my client. I'm still having the lag issues. It is random, I can be working in one aera and suddenly i get a huge lag spike, Leaving and returning to the aera, save and reload, does not solve the problem. The only thing that resolves it is time spent in an aera, after which it returns to normal for a brief time before the lag issues start up again.

My world size is only 280 mb so it's not caused by bloat.

CPU Usage hovers around 10-20% utilization for the for the Bedrock_server.exe, 30% for the Minecraft.Windows.exe client

Ram usage 580mb for the Server, 890mb for the Client

There's no resource hogging that I can see for either app.

The resource usage doesn't change much when it's lagging.

Playing on the BDS server with Xbox.

Before the update had no problems. Those playing on mobile devices would lag.

After update it was crippling lag. Not sure think it's tps.

Had huge sorting system. Had old and new one before update no problem. Just down to one.

Zombie spawned xp farm, raid farm, iron farm, bamboo farm, honey farm, turtle farm, wool farm are in this area. It was well stress tested.

Lag was mostly around storage, xp and raid farm, bee farm and water.

Nothing was new after update. Nothing that had not happened before.

Had over 100 drowned in water all with armor, swords, pilligar banners. They seemed like turned zombies or husk. After they were killed lag better at water.

Killed off half bees. No change at bee farm. Another smp player said no lag at his bee farm.

Lag seems concentrated near, scaffolding, chests, red stone and hoppers. I also have large area dug out under area to y5. To improve spawns. Floor lit up. But possible lag from light changes after update.

Large sorting. Easily 200 hoppers or more in large area. Capped most if not all open hoppers with glass or full block. That used to reduce lag. Also glass is next to water for start of future aquarium maybe.

Seemsd to have surrounded the lag. Does not seem it's unloaded from active chunks to exit lag field.not noticing the sound issues. But usually have sound down near raid farm.

Other redstone builds not seeming to have the lag. Also seeking large number of fish in area. Used command /w @a @e it showed a massive amounts of cows, chickens, xp orbs and massive drowned loaded.

migrated

One player thinks it might be pending ticks? Not sure. But we were able to surround the lag. Can anyone else having this as of 1.16.100 on their lag field?

migrated

block placement used to be so good in 1.12. It is garbage now. Please fix

migrated

I have mi redmi 8 before the update the game ran pretty well

But now there is no frame lag Or frame drop. The following problems are present:-

1.sound lag(when breaking a block for eg. Dirt sound comes out after some time approx. 5 seconds)

2.block lag(when breaking a block the block does not disappear it is not present but visually it is for 5 to 10 seconds)

3.world loading time(before the update it took max 30 seconds to join a world but now it took me more than 5 minutes to join a world)

4. Nether Portal problem(the nether portal is slow and when you go inside it takes another 5 minutes to generate the nether)

Overall I for one think that this update messed with the game ticking and has made it slow

Please fix this bug because this reduces the smoothness and the flow of game.

This problem also switches to the vivo device, I am using the vivo 91C
Most likely high spec windows devices will not be affected

the problem is for 2gb / 1.5gb ram

Effects me terribly on Xbox One.

BTW, just added another report to the 'duplicated by' list and I did search.  Your search engine needs some serious TLC.  Should list latest reports first.

migrated

I am running no packs, just vanilla bedrock.  I just finished a build in the nether that requires a hopper car to run some distance back and forth in a grid pattern.  During testing the cart didn't return to its station.  I went looking for it and found it stalled near the far end of the grid.  I went to troubleshoot this but found that I could not interact with it in any way.  I couldn't check its inventory nor could I break it.  When I tried to push it I walked right through it.  I saved and reloaded and the car was back at its station and I could interact with it normally.

I will confirm the comments above and the original report.  Blocks are breaking seconds after I hit them with the sound following later.  Even opening a chest takes a second or so.  Finally, the ghasts are now teleporting.  The freeze for several seconds then zip, warp speed.

migrated

Something similar happened to me. I was in my iron farm replacing the working stations because my villagers unlinked (other bug that I hope is gonna be fixed). The villagers were in water sources and I accidentally broke all the blocks that were keeping them in place. In theory they should have started running out of that “cage” (there were like 8 villagers in the same block) but they stayed there, even if the water was already flowing out. I tried then to replace the blocks so they couldn’t escape, but even if the block were disappearing from my hot bar, no blocks were placed. Also, some villagers started to burn while they were still there in water. So tried relogging in and now all the villager were out of place, so basically also before I relogged in, the game considered the villagers already out and some of them fell into the lava for the golems, but I couldn’t visually see it.

Switch plain Bedrock. Same Problems as some already mentioned:

-Buildling and Breaking blocks visual lags

-Graphic buildup of the landscape lags

-Mob movement gets stuck or speed up

-Arrows don't hit tragets (flies through mob)

-Getting damage "from nowhere".

-Opening the trade menu results in extreme loading time out or crash

-Cart movement slow or just gets stuck

-Split screen 2 Player: Landing in lava for no reason when entering the Nether Portal, just to end up in front of the Portal as usual with lava damage taken (!!??)

@unknown In my experience, i usually don't have any entity lag with animals or mobs (i don't have 100 or more animals. Just 7 animals). I only get entity lag if items from 2/half double chest got exposed. And there is no issue in my spawn chunk, if there was, i should then experience that in the version 1.16.40 Hotfix. And i'm not playing on a server. It's my singleplayer world. And also my device was good/ok enough to run bedrock in 1.16.40 Hotfix. But after 1.16.100, lag completely.

Everything is laggy. Everything. Loading, moving, block placement, sound. Game’s unplayable. Much sadness. Was gonna explore the elder city this weekend. Impossible to do this. My Power IV villager has disappeared as well. How this has come about from such a reputable company is baffling.

migrated

Switch no resource packs or add-ons.

Same Problems as some already mentioned, block use has visual lags, severe rendering and lag issues upon opening world, not huge only 135mb.

Inventory hot bar and trading menu takes forever to load.

Redstone light lag issues are the worst, if I turn on my flashing Xmas tree game is unplayable.

I hope these issues gets high priority as overall in-game experience has been severely affected by this update.

migrated

Also affecting the Xbox Bedrock version, most noticeable when breaking blocks in the nether, other obvious lag can happen when fighting blaze mobs. random fire will come from thin air and blaze will look stationary.

I was using the the Natural resource pack but game size is only 38mb.

By far the worst update yet, created several other issues.

migrated

Every time i open minecraft on amazan fire 7th gen tablet it takes along time to load and it is laggy and it crashes 1 minute later.

I have also noticed, Nintendo Switch, that Running, Walking, or Flying, s small number of blocks (30-50) in front of me will render, and when I reach the unrendered location, it will take 15-45 seconds to begin to render further.  This happens in new locations, and old locations.  Around my "house" when I first start up the game, when I respawn, or just out exploring.

I have had issues with villagers/villages after the update and it causes lag spikes when ringing the bell. They have also been moving whilst sleeping. I am also experiencing elytra issues that caused me to die just from falling 2 blocks at full health.

I have also noticed significant lag when breaking blocks as well as when placing them. At times,  up to three or four seconds would pass between the block animation finishing client-side and the block item actually appearing. I also noticed lag in picking up items, and I would sometimes have to stand next to/on top of items for two or three seconds before they would be picked up.

I am playing on a Windows 10 client connected to a BDS server on my LAN. The CPU load on the server was around 60% of only a single core, with negligible CPU load on the client and an average ping of 5 ms.

If you have a copy of the world available, you might like to upload a copy of it for investigation.

  • On Windows 10 you can use the Export world feature.

  • On Android or iOS you need to use a file explorer to navigate to Device storage > games > com.mojang > minecraftWorlds

  • On Xbox or Switch the only way is to upload it to a Realm, and then download the world on Windows 10 or Android/iOS.

If the world is larger than 10MB you can upload the world to OneDrive or a similar file sharing site, and then share the link.

I play on Xbox one s, and I notice some things not mentioned in comments:
1. Beacon effect acts weirdly, it should renew at 11 sec, but it renews randomly sometimes at 8, sometimes at 2, sometimes the effect wears off completely and renews after a few seconds although I am standing on the beacon.
2. After breaking blocks the item falling animation keeps repeating and you will notice it if you break a block in the air it or break block and let the item fall in flowing water.

Edit1: I have also other issues mentioned above but all of that affects me in my base area where everything is (my base, farms) but out of these chunks everything is smooth.

migrated

I noticed this issue on my Samsung galaxy J5 (2018) and wile running the game on my laptop

migrated

And I also noticed that if I'm rendering a file in blender and have Minecraft on my other screen. All the locally connected devices that play in that world that I'm hosting on my laptop expirance severe lag wile eating (it takes 20sec to eat) and seeing a stuttery block breaking animation. But on my Laptop while it lags because of the rendering it doesn't have a stuttery block breaking animation nor have I problems eating food.
This could obviously just be because the host laptop is overloaded but it still seams wired.

migrated

This is also happening to me, only its more smooth and rather unnoticeble

migrated

On the XBox One, I've had significant lag problems with harvesting crops, fighting mobs, placing and mining blocks, and collecting objects, including XP orbs. It's most noticeable when near my trading hall of about 20 villagers. Before the 1.16.100 update I had no lag issues and the village in question hasn't changed recently. Now fighting mobs in a raid is basically a slideshow.

migrated

XBox One S , harvesting, chopping trees, fishing...same stutter and lag

migrated

Can confirm that the game is absolutely unplayable in any capacity in a multiplayer setting, issue is still occurring even in single player. I can confirm this is happening via windows 10, Android Devices (LG Stylo 6), iPhone XR, and Nintendo Switch. Entities move like a slideshow, when you hit them, the slowly fly back into the air after a few seconds. Loading chunks is next to impossible. Often, invisible blocks will appear or the void will consume the entire chunk in question.

migrated

Can confirm, Game is pretty much laggy and unplayable for me (Redmi 7)

migrated

This sounds somewhat similar to what I've been experiencing on my realm. A certain chunk is experiencing these issues, it was the chunk I was working in before the update to 1.16.100. It's just part of my small house and a mineshaft down to bedrock I am digging out so I doubt it's anything that is straining the realm server. I am experiencing the issues with the blocks not breaking and stuttering, minecarts skipping down the tracks, and not being able to eat. There have been issues in other parts of the world, as well as the nether, but this chunk is the worst, it's borderline unplayable. I have also downloaded the world to try on singleplayer but I did not experience any issues (short test). I have also tried reuploading the world to the realm but nothing changed. Hopefully this gets fixed soon 🙂

EDIT: I'm on PC, and a friend on xbox is also experiencing the exact same issues I have described

migrated

Not sure if there is a separate bug for this (if so, happy to be directed to it) but I’ve also noticed since this latest update my game is completely crashing out sometimes when laggy.

Nintendo Switch...

While in the middle of building something there was a bit of lag and then the game unexpectedly terminated. Taken back to a Switch screen reporting the software unexpectedly closed. On returning into the game found that I had lost changes since last auto save. While moving around the structure to work out what needed rebuilding, the game kicked me out again back into the Mojang menu which said do not close while game is saving.

migrated

Can also confirm that I am now having crashing issues with the game. Game crashes randomly even when not experiencing the worst of the lag but still being hit heavily. Sometimes there is hours between crashes. Sometimes minutes. Always on boot up afterwards I get a message saying the Global Resources failed to load.

Lag spikes also become more frequent to the point of the game being near impossible to play in multiplayer, both split-screen and online. When this happens the host is usually fine, getting only minor lag and it's those that joined that are experiencing the lag.  However the game will randomly boot all other players from the world and will freeze for the host.

Also, by near impossible I mean some Mobs become jittery when falling from blocks, even 1 high, moving back and forth or up and down really fast. Blocks/Items dropped during strong lag periods will do the same. Looking around stops altogether and it more teleports the camera from one spot to the next. Blocks take longer to render (upwards of a minute) when placing or breaking. Damage becomes delayed, taking all damage at once at a later time, sometimes when the mobs that inflicted the unregistered damage are no longer around. Sound cuts away during these spikes and when it returns a loud slosh of noise comes through the speaker (presumably as the game catches up). Eating food sometimes takes multiple tries to fill hunger. Animation will play however hunger will not go up nor is the food consumed. Mobs taking damage will fly into the air very slowly and fall very slowly from the knockback, regardless of weapon/tool/fist used. Player speed unaffected when this occurs. If playing with others in multiplayer, it will randomly boot those that joined through online and when it does the game freezes. Sometimes play can resume after freezing but more often then not the game crashes. Not all issues happen simultaneously and not all issues listed occur before the game crashes. Can only confirm the multiplayer bits for online and split-screen.

Issues with the food and block placement still occur in Single Player but the issues with Mobs seems to be fine in single player, for me at least. Camera speed does slow down when the lag spikes hit but not to the same extent as when playing multiplayer.

This is all on Nintendo Switch, not sure if this is happening on other platforms though however the crashing never happens unless the game is lagging heavily.

migrated

i can confirm that problem. massiv lag sun is jumping back after a few secons, drop while harvesting is lagging glinch, villager are not moving right always with a stop. no fun at all.

I've been having problems with constant lag since the 1.16.100 release. Even lowering the render distance doesn't help. This is very frustrating because now my eyes are starting to hurt when I play.

I used to have a problem with the game crashing EVERY time I opened the app offline, unless I signed out of my account. Thankfully, that's no longer a problem thanks to the new update. But the new edition of lag is awful! Please fix soon.

I play on Amazon Fire 10 HD, and download Minecraft from the Google Play Store.

Think the best option now, and I think I speak for most Bedrock players, is reversing the update. The "improvements" don't weight up to the problems in gameplay.

btw: cutting off the internet-connection improves performance a bit.

migrated

Hello, I didn't want to create a new bug report as I figured other people are having the same problem as me so I am C&P my comment I left on another report about this issue with the new update.

I just want to confirm that I am having the exact same issues since the last update 1.16.100. I play on a Fire HD 10 tablet and the new update has made the game just about unplayable. Chunks are taking FOREVER to load, in some cases they literally don't load at all, I stand in what looks like the void but I'm standing on blocks but can't tell what they are or if there could be a ravine in front of me or not.

There is also a lot of lag with actions such as mobs moving around. I will see a mob in a spot but when I go to attack it, it's not there. I had this happen with a blaze where it was still attacking me and shooting me with fire but I could not attack where it was because it was showing up in a different spot. I have died multiple times while loading the game up because it's been taking between 1-5 minutes and I have either died due to mobs (where I should have been safe) or one time it looked like I clipped into the ground and suffocated I'm not sure.

Before this update, my game ran relatively smoothly. The Fire HD 10 is not super fast compared to playing on a desktop PC but I kept my chunk loading to around 9 and rarely experienced any lag and if I did it was just for a few seconds or when a lot of items were on the ground etc. Now it doesn't matter what I'm doing, it's just non-stop lag. I have been trying to gear up for the ender dragon fight and I fear I'm going to die due to lag or try to hit the dragon where I think it is and it end up being somewhere else and killing me. Please fix this update for Fire OS users. I know there's probably a small amount of us compared to the rest of the Bedrock community but I really like playing this game and can't afford the desktop version at this time.

Pleas fix this. I have a decent device which is Huawei Mate 9 and can run minecraft at 60 fps before I join the beta. Once I joined the beta the chunk loading is very slow even I had to use a resource pack  that decrease the render distance to 2 chunks and still at 40-50 fps. please fix because it is kinda demotivating to play if you had very low fps. I also need to instamine in my world.

hi im ihsan when i wasplaying this game on the previous version like 1.16.40 i was having a good fps and when im updating to 1.16.100 i see the changelog i see "improvement on rendering chunks" i think and i thought it was improving the fps to renedering a chunk but my fps getting a bit lower from 60 to 40 - 30 fps and i thought it was just my minecraft world that too big but its actually not i try create new a world and its just the same fps and im thinking too maybe its just my storage or phone versions sorry for the bad english because im not speaking english ;-; oh yeah the current device that im using is : Oppo A5 2020, Android 10, RAM : 3 GB thank you! and my issue is on MCPE-107151

When ever i play my world in Windows 10, the lag is not presented, but in mobile it is there, and it's alot. Answer to these question will be really helpful. Thank You.

migrated

The lastest hotfix actually (1.16.101) helped with lag! I normally would play with my render distance at 10 but now I can actually play at my max (which is 12).

I'm glad Mojang listens to players and tries to fix the problems as soon as possible. I still have annoying bugs that still need attention (for example I still won't get invites and achievement notifications) but at least now I can play the game without having to deal with horrible lag.

Thanks Mojang!

Now go fix my other bugs.

Hallo!!

The game is still lagy in 1.16.101. The inventories load much faster but bad chunkloading is still there.

I hope to see it working before this weekend. That shuldnt be a deal because in 1.16.40 everything was just fine.

My divace: Samsung Galaxy A3 2017 (Android 8).

I attach an example of blacklag (It isn't about the texture packs, I tried it out without. chunkborders are from slient and cursor I made my self.), I also have an mp4 for chunkloading but it's 50MB.

Any idea on a patch of hot fix  for this?

migrated

I got the hotfix 1.16.101 and the block lag is still terrible on android, and villagers are super slow, and mobs are teleporting from where I last saw them. Hoppers and redstone and rails are also super slow now. And it is taking close to a full minute to smelt one potato, and it takes a full bucket of lava to smelt 10 now. Blocks will often re-appear after being broken, and the items will float and bounce down for five seconds before being picked up into my inventory. What is going on? The game is thankfully somewhat playable now thanks to the hotfix, but it is still terrible on the lag with animal, villager, redstone, hoppers, furnaces, rails, and minecarts. Please figure out a way to fix this or reverse the update. I would rather have the smooth playing than any new features added to the game.

P.S.

If there is some way where I could share the world so you guys could run tests, I would be more than happy to help out. I want this to be a better experience for everyone, so if I can help in any way, let me know, that k you for taking the time to read each of these, and to truly do everything in your power to make it better!

I also encountered an issue that happens around the same time when the same issues you desribed happen which is mob ai freezing and not moving at all. Relogging does seem to fix these types of bugs but they later apear after some time of playing in the world. My affected platform is the ps4.

migrated

Same issues on xbox. Game has been unplayable since 1.16.100. Invisible mobs killing you is literally game breaking and I have no idea how it’s been this long without a hot fix. This would never happen with a release on Java.

migrated

all my items on skyblock are off this might be because of this

migrated

also 1.16.101 came out this week I belive

migrated

My world is super slow to load - chunks take forever to completely render. Flying with an elytra or in creative is just impossible due to the super slow loading. Often noticeable delays when loading the inventory screen or opening chests. Blocks breaking animation definitely appears out of synch. Running does not appear smooth anymore, as if the game is struggling to keep up. Mobs now seems to fly across the screen as they come into view, and ghasts are actually choppy in their flight which makes them incredibly difficult to hit with arrows. Even while stationary, arrows occasionally pass right through them if they’re far enough away. This was never a problem before 1.16.100.

migrated

This bug can be worked around by:

  •  Lowering your render distance.

  • Lowering your simulation distance.

  • Turning "Fancy Graphics" off in your video settings.

Do I need to mention the sign-Bug removing each block and even bedrock??

PS. 1.16.200 (beta) is still lagy! I didnt find any changes about the lag.

migrated

The sign-removing bug is MCPE-102371
The no fast-craft issue is MCPE-28689
Because these are different bugs you need to search (very important) for each bug and vote for each bug. No need to comment on these bugs unless (important) you have new information for a bug that is not fixed in an upcoming version yet.

migrated

I also been playing on Beta Version 1.16.200.57 on Google Pixel 4. I have been experiencing these bugs, but also framerate drops to less than 1 frames. It would fix itself most of the time, but uncommonly, the phone would freeze up to a point where it could not turn off with button or return to home screen. It usually takes 5-15 mins to fix itself.

Add issue: damage sound delay (& possibly inability to "MLG bucket" or place hay bale to prevent/reduce fall damage)

Be patient.

migrated

I am not experiencing large amounts of lag, but when I break a large number of blocks, one after the other, my game gets really laggy.

migrated

Just add more graphics settings, by type: setting the spawn of mobs, their number; turning off some particles; automatic unloading of the processor from unused chunks (something like that)

migrated

It looks like all LAG issues have been combined into here, however, having searched for issues, checked BETA release notes, not all issues have been resolved (it seems that SO many things caused lag, that not all are tracked separately, and therefore might not be included in the next release, as it does NOT appear to be fixed in the latest beta.

Villagers are causing a lot of lag in the latest actual and beta releases.

Steps to re-create

  1. Start new world

  2. Launch a rocket (for comparison)

  3. Place 40 beds

  4. Place 40 workstations

  5. Spawn 40 villagers

  6. Launch a rocket (Laggy)

This is making the game unplayable, while I appreciate the comment of "Be patient" this should be addressed by a critical hotfix, as it has made the game unplayable for many people, and IS NOT resolved in the current beta.

will chunk loading be fixed?

migrated

Fixed for me I think since 1.16.210.50.

migrated

I play on my Samsung galaxy note 10 lite with 8gb ram yet it still lags and sometimes mobs freeze. The world is loading and rendering too slowly making the game totally unplayable...

migrated

Update 1.16.100 broke the game for me and it looks like thousands of other players yet nothing has been done to fix it. 1.16.40 ran fine on my Fire HD 10, I don't understand why the update wasn't rolled back to that one instead of forcing us to wait weeks for a fix that may not even work. I already made a comment on this bug report, but I really can not emphasize enough that Minecraft as it is currently released is UNPLAYABLE for me. I have died so many times due to lag and mobs killing me that I can not see or walking into a chunk that won't load and falling down a ravine or into lava. This is so very frustrating and I'm tired of being patient.

So many problems to list, I'm trying to remember them all:

Chunks don't load or take extremely long time to load. I have my chunk rendering set to 9, setting it lower makes no difference. I have been trying to explore an ocean monument but it's impossible when I can't see what's around me.

Mobs are invisible or appearing where they are not actually there. Either a mob will be hitting me and I can't see them or a mob will appear frozen in place and I can't hit it or interact with it in any way but still hear sounds in a different direction.

Opening up the inventory or chests will cause the loading bars to pop up and my game will freeze and crash or I have to force close it from the app menu.

Picking up experience orbs: Most mobs drop 3 orbs and I'm only picking up 1 or 2 (usually 2) leaving the other one to follow me around. If I am in water, it gets even worse. I have had 4-6 orbs following me around obstructing my vision. This has led to unnecessary deaths more than once.

Sounds being delayed. I will hit a mob or open a chest and not hear the sound til a couple seconds later.

Block updates, especially with gravity blocks, take a long time to update, with a black cube taking the place of sand and gravel I mined until it finishes updating. Sometimes just half a second, but sometimes taking 1-2 seconds to update. When breaking a lot of blocks with an Efficiency shovel, this creates a ton of lag. Also, sometimes I will break blocks and I hear the sound of the block breaking and am picking up the item but it still shows as being on my screen. I can walk into where the block was and it looks like I'm standing inside of a block but it's not really there.

I play just regular Vanilla Minecraft with no texture packs, no mods, nothing other than what I downloaded from Amazon Store. When this lag started with 1.16.100, I figured it would be fixed within a few days since 1.16.40 worked so well, but it's been going on 3 weeks now and I am getting burned out and no longer enjoying playing Minecraft. I can't download beta updates on Fire HD 10. Please push the fix out as soon as possible or rollback to 1.16.40 so I and others can enjoy the game again. Thank you.

migrated

Matthew Little, I ran your test because I was curious, and I definitely agree that villagers are a huge source of lag, I also did some tinkering after the villagers were in that world, and it seemed as if my tick speed had become almost 10 times slower, especially with redstone. Buttons would stay clicked for up to 30 seconds, and it took 4 minutes to smelt ten potatoes, and used a full bucket of lava. I don't know if the villagers are the reason for this, but it also seems to affect rails, minecarts, portals, trading, and iron golem spawning.

migrated

This problem also occurs in my world on Xbox One.
Especially this one:

  • falling block (eg gravel) animation is slow and buggy

The delay also occurs when opening my inventory, which takes about 03 seconds to open.

This is still an issue on 1.16.200. The block lag has gotten better but the game still freezes momentarily and sound lag is still a thing

migrated

I also got this issue on my Samsung A11 device. I got a good gameplay performance on the first release of nether update patch 1.16.0 full release, but after several minor hotfix patches it affects the game performance very badly. This issue is still present in 1.16.200. I hope this issue will soon be fixed because I haven't play Minecraft for almost a month now.

This is also happening on Windows 10 PC, a Xiaomi Mi9T Pro and Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro.

all are on 1.16.200 Release.

migrated

It still happens in 1.16.200.02 but not as ridiculous as before. There were few improvements but still the block lag (when pushing with pistons) and some sound lag whem placing blocks where there. Also The chunk loading isnt good as it was before...

migrated

Nothing is changed still lagging

migrated

I am definitely still seeing this happen in 1.16.200

migrated

I'm no longer having any issues after the latest update with rtx, It's running perfectly fine now!

migrated

Still seeing the lag issues with 1.16.200.02 but it's not quite as bad.   Windows 10 bedrock also using the linux bedrock server 1.16.200.2  locally on a dedicated server/lan at home.

Have not seen any villagers fly off of beds and the lag has gone from whole segments of time and villagers freezing / disappearing with chunk load delays to more or less a studder in movement at times so there was improvement.  chunk loads are better but not 1.16.40.02 good.

I don't have any RTX gear so I can't speak to any benefit there.

Hope that helps.

Auldrick

@unknown: That is an entirely different bug, perhaps something related to RTX, your graphics drivers, and your video settings. Please search for a more appropriate ticket, or create one if you can't find one.

migrated

It's vastly improved in 1.16.200.   Block and sound lag is gone, our server doesn't crash every 2 hours and RTX is working in multiplayer.

migrated

The lags were not fixed in the new release and the beta version was not fixed, 1.16.40.02 is still the most optimized.

Auldrick

We've been informed that the developers have made some changes that might improve these block lag and sound lag issues. From the recent comments, it sounds like they have for some people, perhaps not for others.

If you're still having lag around block placing/breaking and/or sound, please comment giving your platform, whether you're playing on a server (Realms or dedicated), and what version you're playing.

If you're having more general lag, such as opening and saving worlds or opening UI screens for inventory or trading, we are getting quite a few reports and are currently trying to combine them into a single report. I will update this comment with a link when we have one.

migrated

I am still having block lag, but my case may be extreme. I am attempting to fight the wither with the underground channel method and when it destroys a large amount of blocks, the game is so laggy that it becomes unplayable.

I am playing on a docked Nintendo Switch, version 1.16.200, not on a realm.

migrated

In my case the chunks were not loading as fast as it should be (Also when flying with elytra the chunks were loading super slowly even with low render distance) and causing lag. Also there is block lag when a block is moved by a piston. I have already sent a video regarding this block lag.

I am playing on Android (Samsung galaxy note 10 lite), Version 1.16.200.02, in my single player world (not on a realm or server).

Auldrick

@unknown: Thanks, that's good feedback! To clarify, does the lag seem related to the simultaneous destruction of a large number of blocks, or to having a lot of block entities floating in one place? (The first case would be block lag, the second one entity lag.) And outside the wither fight, how bad is block lag if you still have any?

Auldrick

@unknown: I believe the piston problem is being handled separately and has not been fixed yet. The chunk loading issue is noted. Do you still have block lag? (Block lag is a delay between placing or mining a block and its appearance or disappearance on the screen.)

migrated

It's hard to say, it all happens so fast. So many blocks are destroyed at once that it's difficult to tell.

Outside of that fight, it seemed much better. One person did comment on the use of the elytra, and I will agree with them. Using the elytra is certainly better than it was, but still not great.

migrated

I do get occasional block lag when i have played the game a while (like an hour or so) or when i insta mine or when i fly and go to area to mine some blocks where the nearby chunks are still rendering.

migrated

Also the illagers are in slow motion while during a raid, when we hit them, they just jump and float for a few seconds. I can´t throw the trident, I have wait a few seconds , because they also affect other entity, but players can run normaly (can this be considered information for this issue?)

Auldrick

@unknown: What you're describing sounds more like entity lag than block lag, but that's fine because we're now using this ticket to track general lag issues. Thanks for asking!

osfanbuff63

I have an Android tablet (Samsung Galaxy Tab A 2017) in 1.16.200 and everything is still laggy especially when flying with elytra

MandalorianFenn

I've noticed lag in several types of situations. I play on PS4 on 1.16.200 and it is ongoing but it has been happening for some time before that. It was definitely present before I updated to 1.16.100. I've seen it while building bridges where sometimes I've placed several blocks without being able to see them and am apparently floating in the air (particularly unnerving when building over the void in the End). I see it while mining where sometimes the block I mine is actually mined but is still present graphically and sometimes it disappears graphically only to reappear a few seconds later. I sometimes convert gravel to flint by building a column of it and digging down through it and a couple of times I've been pushed out of the column by reappearing blocks so that I fall thirty blocks or so. I also see it when riding in mine carts. The cart will stop every few seconds, sometimes for and extended time. During these pauses the rest of the world goes on normally. There was also quite a bit of lag when my son and I were fighting the Wither while playing splitscreen. I don't know if any of this helps.

Samsung J6 (Android 9) Never had lag on 1.16.40 and the block lag issue started on 1.16.100

migrated

I run a BDS server. Prior to the 1.16.100 update, it took about 6-8 people on at one time to lag out our world, and that was with a lot of redstone builds in it. Prior to the update our server would run around 30% of CPU power with one player on and increase as the number of players joining increased, but rarely went over 100% unless there were 6-8 players on.

We started a new world when the update came out and now the server CPU pegs out at 100% with one player on and the block lag is nearly unbearable. There's a ton of other general lag issues as well, IE. smelting takes forever even in blast furnaces and smokers, grass takes forever to grow, sheep take forever to get their wool back, fishing is noticeably laggy when reeling in a catch, etc.

I've been monitoring the CPU's activity during certain instances and I've noticed a couple of things since the update:

1. Going through a portal will force the CPU to use 1000% plus of it's power.
2.Flying with Elytra causes undulating "waves" of lag spikes well over 200% of CPU power.
3. With zero players on the server runs at 2-3% CPU.
4. Running through the Nether causes undulating spikes in the CPU.
5. Sometimes mining with UB3 pickaxe causes undulating spikes in the CPU.

We are on a server set up by a small provider. We do not share the hardware with others. Our hardware specs:

Intel Core i9 9900K up to 5.0 Ghz
Unlimited NVMe SSD
DDR4 ECC Ram 2133/2400mhz

I didn't have issues with Minecraft's performance pre-1.16.200 , but now after updating into 1.16.200, fps have significantly dropped from a steady to almost constant 60 fps to now to a constant 30 to 20 fps. Keep in mind that even turning all of the graphic settings to low doesn't help with the performance. I use a HP Pavilion 23-b017c on Windows 10 64-bit operating system. I know that it's low end system and at this point it's an 8 year old computer, but it ran Minecraft Bedrock Edition with no sweat at default graphic settings pre-1.16.200 update. I believe it just the quirks that always occurs when integrating a new graphics engine (RenderDragon) as well as the "RTX" feature into the game that can cause issues with stability and performance. Even when not using RTX at all. Although, I really do hope that these issues can be fixed, if possible.

Bedrock server 1.16.201 has definitely improved the lag issues.  My family is testing now but so far we're not seeing screen draw delays or block manipulation lags.   And that was on the 1.16.200 client.  I just updated the client and I'll report back how it goes.

Summary:  Minecraft Bedrock Server (Ubuntu)  1.16.201 is working well so far with 1.16.200 Windows 10 clients.

With the Windows 10 1.16.201 it's still working well.  I sensed some slight lag at times but nothing like 1.16.100-200.

So far so good!

I can confirm, after disabling Wallpaper Engine and rebooting (I couldn't recall if I rebooted after installing latest NVIDIA drivers), playing on latest server and client on fullscreen the framerate remains high with no framerate drops. When playing in windowed mode however, the frames still drop by quite a lot.

Starting the game is painfully slow, the loading screen takes forever. When having a YouTube video playing on my second monitor, the load screen would cause frames to drop on the YouTube video.

Edit: Nevermind, frames have started dropping again after playing for a while. Doesn't matter if I restart the game, it plays fine for a while and then framedrops ensue.

The issue is there on my desktop too.In 1.16.100 there was no problem but now it stutters like hell when I open a world, break a block.Opening entities like chests, crafting tables is painfully slow and laggy. When I go to the main menu(pause I mean) I have to wait for nearly 6-7 second for the main menu to pop up and at thena freeze for 5-6 Seconds occurs. There are sudden freezes here and there while playing.Blocks do not update that is blocks take 10-20seconds to show up.Before that they appear invisible and transperent.Loadings are painfully slow.At start  after passing the red mojang screen I have to wait for many minutes for the game to load and then another twenty minutes for my avatar to just show up.

Many times the game just freezes when I press pause

and doens't respond to any of my commands and when I minimise and load the game again it's a near 30 minute waiting time.I am exceptionally sad as I used to LOVE THIS GAME MORE THAN ANY GAME I OWN and now it's getting hard for me to play it.

Hello,

since the update 1.16.200 (Render Dragon), minecraft is stuttering and have heavy framedrops (and Textures/Menus loading slowly). I play on windows 10 without any ressrouce packs (vanilla). Before the update, ive got about 144 fps in every situation (48 chunks loaded). After the update, in some areas with many buildings, the fps drops at 40 and lower. And yes, i mean without raytracing!

The best thing is: If i enable raytracing, my frames are higher and stable at the same place. About 60-80 fps and no stuttering...
But i don't want to use raytracing!

My wifes Laptop and all of my friends don't have this problem.

My PC:

  • i7 4790K (iGPU deactivated)

  • RTX 2080

  • 16 GB Ram

  • SSD

  • Windows 10 x64

All drivers are up to date and windows 10 is also up to date.

So this pc should run minecraft very well and if i enable raytracing, it does. But not without it. My settings are currently at the lowest render distance for my pc (8) and it stuttering like .... . The CPU and GPU usage is realy low, there is no bottleneck.

It is stuttering, textures loading slow, and so on...  -> More details in Task MCPE-111765

Hi,

I started seeing this problem since 1.16.101 was added to the game.

The game become very lagy and basic jobs like eating and drinking potions takes many seconds and mobs become very slow like they are in in space and furnaces takes to long to cook and smelt thing ( and yes i checked my random tickspeed it 1 the default nothing is wrong with it) blocks textures are louding and disappearing in the wrong time (one time I found a a spider spawner and a buried treasure because I can see throw blocks) plus all the problems you have mention before.

My device is :Samsung j4 core

1gb ram

Android 8.1.0

I know my phone is a low end device but minecraft was running just fine in 1.16.40 (that doesn't mean that 1.16.40 was perfect )

yes, i'm also starting to have performance issues and indescribable mouse and keyboard lag! Problems with performance, I began to notice since version 1.16.100 in the form of a long render of chunks or a long render of blocks that I set. And problems with indescribable lag of the keyboard and mouse have appeared since version 1.16.200. Everything was perfect until version 1.16.100+. My device is a laptop with windows 10 with

summary of performance issues:

1.16.201 hotfix.

Android 8.1.0  Device:Oppo A5s 3gb

Been having severe lag problems since 1.16.100 and have previously made a comment here. However, I'd like to update on the current version.

As of now, general lag issues have slightly got better. Most noticeable improvement is anything involving UI, chests, villagers etc. Now it rarely lags when opening the UI

Not as many lag spikes.

World loading speed is still moderately slow as before.

Chunk loading speed is still pathetically slow as before. After spending about an hour on a world, chunks just upright refuse to load, I have to exit and re-enter the world. On the upside, I've found 3 spawners around my base because the chest entities load before the terrain.

Noticeable lag increase when around many entities, but is to be expected.

In summary: a little improvement, not much.

Can't wait for this hell to be over.

Performance issues has returned after the graphics driver update initially smoothed out the FPS. Now it renders at or below 21FPS.

Toggeling fullscreen on and off helps, but then frames start dropping again. No other settings can resolve the issue. Only solution would be a fix from the devs.

The dangers16

Ever since I updated to version 1.16.200 on windows 10 the game performance degraded significally. Chunks are taking longer to load than what it used to be in 1.16.40 (I didn't try on 1.16.100). Other problem include:

-Unhabitual frame drops even at 16 chunks of render distance compared to steady 60 fps on 32 chunks of render distance on 1.16.40 . (Laptop specs: 8GB DDR4 2400, i7-8565U, Nvidia geforce MX130 2GB with latest driver from Nvidia)

-Weird white lines with anti aliasing enabled.

-Some repeating command blocks are stalling when I load the world, some working faster than they should and others not working at all until I "restart" them. I don't know if this issue of the command blocks is related to render dragon or not, so I am hesitating to open a ticket for it

On my phone (galaxy A50,android 10) the game is still as good as it was pre 1.16.200.

I get that bug all of the time - it happens with breaking blocks too: you break a block, and that block's hitbox goes away, and you can walk through it, but it still appears visually in game - another thing that happens with this bug is that if you walk into one of those blocks, at head hight, you can be in an equivalent of spectator mode, but in survival - it's sometimes quite helpful actually!

migrated

On PS4 I'm getting this same issue as well as all mob types freezing briefly every few seconds.

migrated

Everything is laggy! For example: chucks don't load, menus not loading, sound being delayed or not play at all, mobs freezing for a couple seconds, and blocks reappearing. This is all in the 1.16.201 hot fix version

migrated

From versions 1.16.100, 1.16.101, 1.16.200 and 1.16.201 (even beta versions) I encountered a lot of delays (even with fancy graphics, render clouds and beautiful sky turned off).
While running the game lags a lot, even with the render distance at 8 (the default of my phone or the Samsung A10)
Please resolve it as soon as possible
Thanks

This is my third comment here... Just some more notes.

Aside from chunk loading speeds, I have found that mobs are what is causing lag. When loading in a new world, it's fresh and new, but as some time passes, more mobs spawn and the game lags more and more. I set up a command block to /kill @e every few seconds and boom! Lag was totally fixed.

I hope Mojang optimises the game soon. I just wanna use my trading hall with 40 villagers without lagging like hell...

migrated

With me, killing all the mobs doesn't resolve, it helps, but doesn't resolve. When I clear my inventory the game runs perfectly.

gamerpower2655

Nat Bong is correct.
Mobs also can cause MCPE-98861 on multiplayer worlds (haven't played on many single-player worlds, so I'm not sure about those.)

i just want to clarify, that my bug report (marked as duplicate) regarding lag on nintendo-switch/1.16.201 affects the menus as well. the game is almost unplayable. you try to enter a realm: 7+ trys; you leave the realm: you can‘t reenter unless you restart the game due to vonnection issues. i just want to play the game and 15+ minutes with multiple restarts of the game/the console is just unacceptable.

I'm experiencing this too, noticing the following:

Connecting to a BDS Server, after a while chunks can take upto a minute to fully load if flying through the world.  CPU usage of the bedrock_server process shows high utilisation, however, IO throughput and wait times remain low.  I'm running BDS with the world data stored on a remote NFS share.  Moving this to local storage (SSD) makes zero difference in chunk load times.  Restarting the bds server process does sometimes resolve this and help to improve response times.

When playing on Switch (either on a local world or a remotely connected bds server), the players movement will be blocked as if they are hitting a wall when flying too far outside of rendered chunk areas.  The player can turn around and fly/move back, however until further chunks load the player is in essence 'blocked' from moving further.  This is not due to something blocking the player physically, as I've seen this when flying above the build height limit.  When the chunks finally load, the player can continue to travel in that direction.  I've not yet observed this on PS4, however I've not tested this much on that platform yet.

So far, in one world, I've had 2 chunks completely disappear which I'm not sure is related or not, but this did follow a slow loading period in the surrounding area.  The chunks were replaced with world holes, and needed to be manually filled in.  I've only seen this against 2 chunks so far, and it was on a remote BDS instance connected to via PS4 and Switch.

[Mod] LateLag

1.16.210.55 Beta makes it much better.

I can confirm what Paul is saying. I had the same experience on switch as of 1.12. when I bought the game on switch. I thought it was normal and not a bug or an issue due to the switch's hardware capabilities/limitations. it feels like some kind of "buffer" stacking up until you reach some sort of "invisible wall", if the chunks aren't loaded yet.

regarding the lag-problem (I'm not even sure if 'lag' is the correct phrase for this problem):

yesterday I was playing on a realm and after about 15 minutes, I got the loading animation (mentioned in my comment above and seen in many of the attached pictures). the game itself didn't freeze, but I was unable to move/the game did'nt respond to any input at all, so I had to force-quit the game (home+close app). this was new to me. is this a lag-issue aswell?

also my portal-based guardian-farm doesn't work anymore. im using water streams to flush guardians into nether portals (classic bedrock-style guardian farm). I'm using piston-doors infront of the nether portals to start/stop the farm.

when I was entering the chunks the farm (seamonument) is in, i made the following observation (in chronological order):

  1. guardians spawn in

  2. waterstreams load in

  3. blocks are rendering (piston-doors; obsidian frames of the nether-portals etc.)

  4. portal-blocks inside the obsidian frames are rendering.

between steps 2 und 3, the guardians are already pushed into the nether portals by the water, before the portal blocks appear. thus resulting in the guardians jumping around inside the (then active) nether portals without ever getting teleported to the nether.

I'm not sure if this relates to the same lag-bug. i'm experiencing this as of the same time as the 'block-lag' started. so I decided to write a comment here.

friends on other platforms (xbox and win 10) have the same issues with the farm. so it seems to be related to this bug here ( ? )

kind regards

Not that I want to jump into the massive pile of reports but I will confirm that Xbox Series X is no stranger to these performance issues. Like I stated in my original post, it could be caused be the change in api. That being from DX12 to DX11. I could get a recording of the issue if necessary. The lowest frame rates (25fps is the lowest) are in forests or other biomes with heavy foliage.

migrated

So to summarize the issue here, is the problems. In this report i made it has 2 issues that are being cause by the same thing. The problem is when you have a group of addons added to your Minecraft account the game will freeze up around every 20 seconds and it will stay froze for around 5-3 seconds. My other issue is connection issues being caused by addons/marketplace content. I ran a bunch of test and i wrote about them in the big text below. To summarize my test i had 3 accounts 1 being my main. I found this was being caused by addons by accident, I made a new account because i wanted to get rid of the issues i was having which are the Micro Lag and the Connection Issues. I will show examples of both below.  On my alt account i didn't install any marketplace content and played with it for around a week and a half. i noticed that i was able to join all games, realms, and servers almost 100% of the time. But the game was telling me that it was a "connection issue" so that's what i thought it was, but i found out it wasn't my connection at all. So i ran a few test, long story short once i installed some skin packs, global resource packs, and addons my alt accounts game began to do the same thing as my main. Both of the issues got worse with the more connect installed. I will now post the pictures and videos of the issues below.

I have this problem when playing games where I am using the elytra. For example, in terra swoop force, when I am flying with the elytra, the blocks can have trouble rendering and I end up crashing I to an invisible wall. Then when I respawn, I have to wait a while for the blocks to load in EVERY TIME I DIE. also blocks behind leaves don’t load in, and I can see the void through the leaves because the blocks behind the leaves don’t load in.

workaround: turn render distance to the minimum and rendering blocks becomes quicker.

a Workaround to improve performance a lot is to delete worlds you don’t need or never use. I recommend keeping your world amount to 10 or less. I once had over 50 worlds and my game started stuttering a lot and crashed a lot too. After deleting half, my game ran ALOT BETTER!!!!

Auldrick

@unknown: Performance problems are particularly difficult to quantify and to attribute to a specific cause, and they're often caused by a combination of factors that could be different from one device to another. I think it's unlikely that deleting unused worlds would have a significant effect on performance for most people, but I will leave that suggestion here because it almost certainly won't do any harm and might actually help a few people. However, I'm editing out the unnecessary emphasis.

Also, I have removed your comment addressed to another user. Comments are to be used for providing information to the developers only. We also allow sharing of workarounds, because those often provide clues that can help the developers. But we don't allow open discussion among users because that scatters the important information needed to find and fix the bug. Discussion should be conducted on sites designed for that purpose, such as the Minecraft Discord.

I feel like people havent pointed out the severe lag issues with UI loading. Buttons take forever to load, marketplace takes forever to load. Clicking the play button sometimes takes several seconds to load, servers take upwards of 15 seconds to establish a connection (if at all, and if none of the featured servers connect, I literally have to restart my game, not present in old versions). Its just lag everywhere even in the menus. clicking the pause button has noticeable delay. I am on a desktop with a wired connection. even the UI in 1.14 was much, much better.

Looking at the UI code, ive been told that having a #ignored feature in UI will vastly improve performance. Not really sure how that may be implemented, but in any case, the UI performance irks me almost just as much as the severe performance drop with the render dragon engine (many people still prefer the old engine due to the problems currently, among other things such as being able to make shaders).

i can confirm what ambient said for switch aswell. in addition to that, the overall lag in the menus and in the game is present without a connection to the internet, too. (i‘m on switch, though).

over the last few days i made another observation:

if i stay on the totlescreen for a littlebit too long (4-5 minutes) i get stuck in the loading animation once i click on „play“ and the game will stop responding. same happens when i leave a realm. once i want to reenter the realm: loadinganimation pops up and the game freezes in it.

migrated

I can also confirm ambient's finding in Windows 10.  I'm also having chunk loading lag as well (jonathan hale's issue).  Mojang believes this issue is fixed (see Issue 85614). It is not fixed in my case.

IMHO, the problem has become more pronounced, as most times those unloaded chunks will refuse to load for multiple minutes of standing in-game and looking at them.  I play mostly on a self-hosted server running the bedrock server software, version 1.16.201.02.  The problem is much, MUCH more pronounced when loading ocean chunks, to the point I can tool around in a boat pretty much anywhere in my worlds and chunks 2 and 3 chunks in front of me struggle to load.

In attempting to work around it when playing on the server, I've closed out of the game and attempted to rejoin the server, in which case I get the "locating server" message for multiple minutes followed by loading into the world and have a sudden time jump (like I'd somewhat loaded in, enough for my game to think it was day, but then in the waiting it has become night).

It's definitely worse in local multiplayer and on servers, although I have noticed chunk load lag in single player worlds as well.

Fully stopping the server and restarting it fixes the problem for a time (maybe for an hour or so of gameplay).

Elytra flight over oceans is impossible due to hitting unloaded chunks, in both single-player and multiplayer of any kind.

Server is a dedicated VM with 4GB of RAM and 2vCPUs (Core i7).  Client is running on a core i7 10 series with 16 GB of RAM and a 1650 Ti (latest game-ready drivers).

It also seems to be worse generating new chunks than reloading previously-visited chunks.  I can sail my boat into new chunks, wait a minute or 2 for chunks to load only to advance ahead another 3 chunks and have to wait again.

Edit: Added another screenshot of the game not loading chunks and a shot of "top" on the server.  Each bout of chunks not loading corresponds to the CPU usage spiking over 100% and staying there.  Since the bulk of the BDS binary is single-threaded, I think it won't consume all available resources (i.e. I have 2 cores, so it could use 200%).  When the game is functioning properly, the usage is between 25% and 40%.  This is an i7 running at 3.4 Ghz.

During the flight in creative, or just playing on the world, I notice a drop in frames and poor loading of chunks, earlier at 1.16.40 this was not, such problems are not with me alone.

TheRoyalBlock

While I can't speak for mobile, I know a related issue is MCPE-97408. It seems that render dragon abandoned the distribution of rendering between CPU and GPU and just went "if your GPU can do it, it will, and if your GPU can't, then your CPU will", but those metrics are useless because some GPUs are good but not that good, and no CPUs are even close to that good. Because of this, I get lag on even just the title screen on my laptop with an Ryzen 3500U (+Vega 8 Graphics, which can run 48 chunks-pre-RD with 80% GPU and now runs at 100% GPU regardless of render)

migrated

As for FPS slowing down, I got a good solution:

Go to your Settings -> System -> Power & Sleep -> Other Power Settings, then choose High Performance. If that doesn't work, then: Change the Plan -> Change Advanced Plan Settings -> Changable Dynamic Graphic Card -> Global Settings -> Charging -> Best Performance(Do not change this to Maximized Performance if yours are AMD GPUs, but I don't learn if Nvidia will be affected)

Hope this can be helpful to those who get lag of FPS slowing down. 🙂

In the main menu there are delays for loading skins and most of the time a loading bar appears (even if you go into settings). In creative mode and in survival if you run while you turn the camera the game lags a lot. The same thing also happens in servers, in worlds with addons and in multiplayer worlds (when there are buildings nearby such as villages)
The loading of the world is quite slow along with the generation of chunks
All this happens since 1.16.100
On servers loading of chunks is slow. Even if the graphics settings are disabled
In skywars / bedwars or pvp due to too much lag you can't even turn the camera to attack
Anyway when you play 1vs1 the game lags too much. Preventing me from attacking despite having everything deactivated. (For the opening of the inventory I have only one thing to say: that is that the first time when you enter a world it takes about 3 or 4 seconds to open). The delay occurs especially when playing with addons. Hopefully a new Hotfix version will arrive soon ...

When windowed, my minecraft windows 10 starts getting pretty bad frame drops. In fullscreen I have perfect performance, extremely high fps, no complaints there. But when playing in multiplayer fullscreen, the moment you switch to anything else you are disconnected, or everyone that was in the world you are hosting is disconnected. So I really wish I could play in windowed without having such poor performance. There could be anywhere in-between 10 seconds and 1 minute in-between the frame drops, but when they do, it is very noticeable due to the high fps that it is normally at. For some reason when I do get these drops It helps to open up another application for a second and go back to minecraft because this seems to stop the frame drop. Also I don't think it is a problem with my specs, here they are:

My specs:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3800X 8-Core Processor 3.89 GHz
RAM: 16 GB
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER

This problem does seem to be very minimally affected by turning every graphics setting in game to the lowest possible, but the frame drops definitely persist.

i play the switch lite. and i’m in 1.16.201. and it lags BAD. and crashes about every 5 minutes. blocks will glitch and disappear, or stay there but i can walk through them., i lose items sometimes. or it lags out and just won’t place my items. i can’t play online because it messes up so bad. it will take a really long time just to open the game, it won’t load in for a long time and i have perfect wifi. i also can’t go into the shops without it lagging out and /or crashing almost immediately. i have lost loads of progress due to the game crashing at random times, which brings me to, let us have us have the choice  to have auto save or save it ourselves when we want to . please.

Legomasterer21

I experience fps lag in my worlds with high CPU usage(around 87%) and low GPU usage(36%), and I am limited to 48 chunks. However, in other peoples worlds, I can go to max 72 chunks with low CPU(8% usage) & GPU(36%) usage, but the gameplay would get laggy. With RTX on my GPU usage is 100% regardless, but gets laggy in my worlds, not as much in other peoples worlds.

My CPU is an Intel Core i9-10850k at an overclock of 4.8 GHz

My GPU is an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 at an overclock of 1.4 GHz

Fps drop has been annoying lately after the 1.16.100 was released, ever since now, I am still experiencing low fps than normal.

Note: People that I know are experiencing this as well, which are using platforms such as realme and other android devices.

This issue is reported fixed in the 1.16.210 changelog based on the original report about the Ender Dragon being jittery.

For issues with block placement, see the following:

For other ongoing lag issues, please search for an existing ticket or create a new one.

Fixed an issue that was causing the Ender Dragon animation to appear jittery (MCPE-105892)

I think there was some mistake. This fix reported in Minecraft Feedback does not appear to be related to this ticket.

migrated

The issue definitely isn't fixed in 1.16.210. If anything, it's worse, at least when playing on a Realm. Playing last night on an Xbox Series X, over a clean 300/30 Mbps Internet connection with open NAT, there was substantial lag of all the types previously reported. The game was far less playable than it was with 1.16.200 lately, and that's saying something.

migrated

i can confirm that the bug is not fixed on nintendo switch - 1.16.210, too.

the wave constantly appears on realms / local worlds. see attached images.

Issue fixed on Windows 10. Performing better than pre-RenderDragon Minecraft. Can play in Windowed mode again, frames don't dip below my 75hz refresh rate, except for in menus when loading things, which is understandable. New animations are smooth as butter.

migrated

I can confirm the game is still a bit laggy, but it got much better. Villagers aren't in "slow motion" anymore, but I can confirm they make the game a bit laggy. I play on Android.

migrated

On the switch the basic movements like the menu and in-game have definitely been improved but the actual gameplay is still laggy. The worlds failing to render and the occasional infinite loading bar still coming up when trading, standing still, or even pressing the home button.

Actually, I have gotten more lag after the latest beta

New ticket, block lags again in 1.16.210 but it loads a bit faster

migrated

This is the fourth time I've committed, and I wish it was with better news. The 1.16.210 update made the game noticeably smoother but, it did not fix the lag (although it did improve slightly). I have previously experienced lag on my iPhone SE (2016) so I decided to see if it was still there, and I was happily surprised to see that it was running nice and smooth. Now I have a device that I can play Minecraft on without lag, but I would like the lag to be resolved on the Amazon Fire because that's what I mostly use daily. Also, the chunk loading on my Amazon Fire is extremely slow, I might even go as far as to say it's gotten worse.

SlimySpeck

I've created a new ticket MCPE-120971 because the block generations might have lagged again, because when i fly so fast, the generations have delayed and there's big tiles that causes X-ray, as the sound lags are now fixed but the frozen generations are now fixed, as we know that the block generations are now slightly faster

migrated

An example of infinite loading screens (occurs on Switch and Mobile, probably a CPU/IO problem). which occurs after leaving the game on the title screen for a few minutes.

The loading screen stops after a few minutes, but may start again when a world is loaded.

 Block Sound Lag.mp4

Especially in large worlds, block sounds can have a huge delay and all play at once a few seconds later. In smaller worlds sounds could play shortly after they are suppose to. This only applies to new sounds (sounds that haven't been played upon load on the world).

Eg: A dirt block is broken and a few seconds later, the grass sound plays, if it is broken again the sound plays instantly, but if you go to break a stone block, that sound would have a delay, and then play instantly next time it is broken.

migrated

Mobs far away from the player look really jittery and laggy. This has only started happening after 1.16.210 came out

SlimySpeck

The issue is cloned by MCPE-120971 because it's generations are frozen and mobs far away are frozen and doesn't move in old worlds

migrated

I can absolutely confirm the fact that there is still a lot of lag, but above all still delays (in my case in the Nether). The problems I encountered in my device are:
1) In my world, it takes about 2-3 seconds to open the inventory for the first time.
2) While running there is a lot of lag (even in the non-built areas and in the villages)
3) Shrouded delays of block destruction in the Nether
4) When in multiplayer there is lag
5) When you pause for the first time, it takes 2-3 seconds to open
6) Whenever you go into the settings a loading bar often appears
7) When entering a world, loading is slow
8) Sometimes the loading of skins is slow
9) When playing with 2 or more addons the game lags a lot (especially in villages and when running).

Here is everything I found in 1.16.220.02
Hope you solve it soon 🙂
My device: Samsung A10 with android 10

@unknown: Thank you! Detailed, quantified data like this is the best kind of help for the devs. But to make the best use of it, could you edit your comment to add information about your device and OS? Knowing how much capacity your device provides would let them gauge how far short of expectations these facts are.

migrated

For lower end devices like nintendo switch, IOS, and andriod it still applies in version 1.16.220

  1. In single player worlds when the chunks around you aren't loaded and you try to open your inventory or menu. The game will struggle to load and a loading bar appears for several minutes.

  2. Opening up minecraft is nearly double the time to load after the render dragon engine has been implemented.

  3. When you run or fly in a straight direction the chunks will not load efficiently around you therefore, you appear over a void.

  4. When you first open a world up and you interact with things that make sounds. The audio is delayed by at minimum 5 seconds.

  5. Every minute or so the game will freeze all the entities and blocks around you for several seconds but you are still able to move around.

  6. The first time a sound is played it'll be delayed for several seconds but all other time it won't.

  7. Block lag occurs randomly and does occur everytime the game freezes.

Auldrick

@unknown: Thank you as well! I'm going to suggest forwarding these comments to Mojang.

If it's convenient, please try to preview before updating your comment, so the system doesn't send out a separate email to all the watchers each time you update it.
